Wow, I woke up this morning and realised it was August. Now by rights I should be laying in the sun, but I’m still running around like a crazy thing. Firstly we had my daughter’s theatre school shows last weekend which were hard work but so rewarding. I did think I was getting a little old for all those technical rehearsals and quick changes, but there is something fantastic about being backstage in the theatre. Once that curtain goes up and the show is up and running, the adrenaline kicks in and you get such a buzz.
It really does take me back to my theatrical roots, and suddenly I’m 16 again. Then I try and get out of bed the next morning, with my back in bits and I realise that I’m definitely not!
The standard of the shows was extraordinary and everyone said it was the best show the school had produced so far, which is amazing considering the school is run by the same two teachers that taught me! I don’t know how they do it after all these years.
After the excitement of the shows we’re straight into rehearsals, as next week is the finals of All England. The finals are held in Central London every two years. After two years of various competitions, heats and semi-finals running all over the country, my daughter has made it through to the finals for the third time in her thirteen years, which is pretty good going. It will be nail-biting stuff, as every time the standard just gets better and better – so fingers crossed for the finals!
However, fingers can now be uncrossed… the music exam results which I mentioned a couple of blogs ago are in!
You may remember that both the children ended up with their exams at the same music centre, on the same day. I had my daughter’s grade eight singing exam at 9am, followed by my son’s jazz saxophone performance diploma at 2pm, and I spent the whole day driving them backwards and forwards to school. There had certainly been a lot of sibling rivalry in the run-up to the exams and it was quite bizarre that out of all the examiners that were at the centre that day, they both ended up with the same one!
When the results came in, I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only had they both passed and received the highest award of distinction, but they had both got exactly the same mark of 89%! Thank goodness for that equal mark, it certainly made my life a lot easier at home as there were absolutely no grounds for squabbles of any kind and made for a great result all round.
Now before I go, I must tell you about a stunning Kim & Co Today’s Special Value offer launching with me tonight (Monday 31st July), and running all day Tuesday (1st August). It’s the perfect twinset.
A really useful long-sleeved top, coupled with a stunning textured cardigan – it’s just the thing to add to your wardrobe and take you into the coming months. Fashion designer Kim Mendelson founded Kim & Co in 1988 and QVC is the only place in the UK that you can find these fashionable designs. She always says that she leads a team of women designing for women, taking into consideration all our wants and needs, and the outcome is seriously flattering to all shapes and sizes. This TSV twinset is sure to put a smile on your face…
Talking of smiles, take a look back at my January blog featuring the LAB Pro white tooth whitening system, which is incredible. I have it on good authority it’s back as a Today’s Special Value offer on Saturday the 5th of August. I can’t wait, but just hope we have enough to go around this time. It’s one of my top tips for showing off your suntan – just whiten your teeth! Ha!
