Have you ever been in the situation where an elderly member of the family fascinates you with a story of what happened to them in the war or about their travels around the world, and thought 'someone should write this down!' Perhaps, sadly, when someone dies, all their wonderful stories die with them.
Well now all that has changed as QVC have a great new idea, which I am hoping to tell you all about on Monday next week! It’s a really clever and easy way of guiding you through writing an autobiography or indeed you could write about a member of your family, and tell their story.
I met the creator of this fabulous idea the other week. Bryher Scudamore is a journalist and ex-producer of "That’s Life" who thought about utilising her years of experience as a journo by becoming a ‘ghost writer’. She realised that she would only be able to write three or four biographies a year and have to charge thousands of pounds for each of them. So, for the past 13 years she has developed a system to harness your computers power to help you use your memories and her skill as a journalist and writer, to create your own life story!
I have been exploring the website, on which you create your story (www.autodotbiography.com ) and it truly is a very intuitive and easy guide which jogs your memory and gives you a great structure to create a really amazing book of the quality you might expect to see in the library. You can put in photos, birth certificates, diagrams, first paintings, school reports or whatever you like, and it can be as long or as short as you see fit. Bryher told me that somebody commented "it was like WD40 for the brain" and they were right!
I’ll be with Bryher on Monday 28th at 3pm , so she can tell us all about it and we will have a very special guest star who is coming in to tell us what they think of their life story – Ester Rantzen!
Do join us for the "Story of Your Life!" – see you then!
