It feels like I've been putting it off forever and a day, so after a year of saving like mad to fund the project, it's wonderful to finally have the work started.
It's not a major refurb – I did one of those about four years ago – so this is more of a tidy up. It's going to involve a lot of painting, replastering and a new look for the spare room and the bathroom.
I'll post more photos up as the work progresses and yes, I'll endeavour to get stuck in, even though I'm not much of a DIY expert. But I've found that from presenting some of the DIY shows on air I'm now a bit more confident, especially with the advice from some of our top experts!
As you can see from these before and after photos the hallway was awful – what was I thinking?!! It was also flooded so needed a fair bit of replastering too. I've chosen this lovely sunny yellow shade, I think it's really cheery and makes me smile everytime I come home.
If you've got any tips for me on how to keep calm during the inevitable madness, noise and mess I'd be forever grateful!
Till next time,
P.S. I just wanted to say a couple of thank you's. Firstly to Jane who indentified my mystery flowers – I did think they were daffodils but everyone said they were too small – so THANK YOU Jane!
And also thanks going out to Jules and Janet for your kind wishes after my bike accident.
And finally to Marg for your inspirational and loving words about my holiday in France. Love and kisses to you all!
