The Other BB

24

Julia and Will at the Beauty BashI don't really watch Big Brother but I do sometimes get a little bit hooked on the celebrity version when I have a few evenings off work. That has been the case this year for me, although just as it has got to the really interesting bit, where everyone is sick and tired of playing 'the game' and just wants to go home, and all the evictions come thick and fast, I've been missing it!

It's quite surprising how, after the initial awareness of 'being watched', they seem to forget and do some really stupid things. I was quite liking Romeo so was a bit disappointed when he was evicted on Wednesday, but I think my favourite has been Gareth.

The other BB was our very own Beauty Bash which took place on Wednesday and Thursday this week. I was asked to go on Wednesday afternoon and, as usual, it was lovely to meet 'our viewers' in the flesh.

The Beauty BashIt's such an opportunity for us to meet you and for those of you who went, to ask questions and get treatments from your favourite brands, but also to maybe experiment with something new. I experimented with something new by 'tweeting' my first ever pictures from the Beauty Bash, although I must own up to having had a bit of help!!

The day was made extra special for me with the arrival of an unexpected guest. Our beautiful (inside and out) model Amica, who has been battling breast cancer, sprung a surprise on us. I can only imagine how she must have felt before coming into the hall so thank goodness she had her friend and fellow QVC model Beth with her for support.

It was tears and hugs all round and I can truthfully say it puts any problems I may have into perspective, watching the composed manner in which she is coping with what life has dealt her. The next step is to get her back modelling on QVC.

Dickie at the Beauty BashI had planned an evening in, watching the aforementioned CBB, however Keeley from Elemis and Ali Young persuaded me otherwise.

Along with Amica and Beth, and two of our floor managers, Dickie and Vanessa, we headed first to the pub for a pitcher or two of 'Woo Woo'… I have no idea what is in it … and then to Jamie Oliver's restaurant for dinner. The call to home was along the lines of, "Have you started making dinner yet?"…

Hope you are loving the Tiana B TSV and remember it is Beauty Day tomorrow on QVC!

See you later, Julia xx

Lovely to hear about Amica-I am looking forward to seeing her again doing her elegant and composed modelling. Glad she is doing so well and ‘OUT AND ABOUT’ again. As for B.B-I have been a loyal and steadfast fan all the way through(except for the BB bore—I mean 4!!!!!!! —awful tv). I must admit that I do miss Davina—she WAS Big Bro—sorry Brian. Can’t think who is going to win this time—-please not the twins!!!!!! Take care, Julia. When are you off to your beautiful Sapanish retreat again? Sooooooooo jealous!!!!!! Love K.XXX

Hi Julia, pleased the Beauty Bash was a success ( a foregone conclusion really!) Thrilled to hear dear Amica put in an appearance, she has been sorely missed. I have no idea how to send her a message other than via your good offices, so please pass on good vibes to her. P.s Your hair looks really good
    Best regards

    Hi Julia
I too have been getting into CBB this year, didn’t watch much the first week it was on but seem to have got hooked for the last two weeks. I was soooo shocked when Romeo got evicted, I though he had a chance of winning. I do like Gareth though – who I think will now win! I really do like the tasks they get them doing – very entertaining.
The BB sounds such good fun, unfortunately I’ve not been yet, maybe next year(fingers crossed)! It would be lovely to see Amica back on QVC. It’s a shame QVC decided not to show the BB live again like they did last year, it would have been nice to watch.
I’ve never had a woo woo but I’ve heard of it and wouldn’t mind trying one especially an Archers woo woo which is meant to be nice.
Looking forward to Beauty Day tomorrow. Have a lovely weekend.

    Hi Julia
I never really got into ‘Big Brother’ Celebrity or otherwise. I’m sooooooooooo into the other BB though. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been three times in four years now. (I told you I spend a lot!) I was there on Thursday afternoon and had a fab time. I had a Bare Minerals makeover which is my all-time favourite make up range. I generally go for quite a light make-up look, especially in the day time, but decided to vamp it up a bit! It was also great to see the lovely Keeley again and chat with some of the other ‘Elemis’ Team.
I’m glad to hear Amica will be back on air soon. She does seem such a genuinely lovely lady. Sounds like you had a fab night too.
    Love
    Marian

Julia, you have broke my dream as the saying goes. I was watching “The Wonderfully Brave Alison” the other day and got to wondering about Amica. So pleased she can see light at the end of her dark tunnel and hopes this continues. Have shed some tears over my wonderful cousin who is going through chemo yet again. Like Alison she is so brave, cheerful and confident – I have everthing crossed for them all. It is truely a dreadful thing to happen. Take care and I love your hair. xxx

Thanks so much for the update on Amica I have been thinking of her you are right she seems to be such a lovely person and she and Alison have been truly inspiring. Glad you enjoyed the Beauty Bash wish I didn’t live so far away as I did receive an invitation but was unable to make it. Love Morag x

    Hi Julia,
Glad to hear that Amica is doing okay, anyone who has to deal with cancer is so brave, and especially the children that go through it. I hope she soon gets back into modelling, it is so nice for her to have all the support from your team, and it sounds as if you had a good evening out. It is so nice to see Alison back on the screen, she has also had to battle this and looks so well.
I am afraid I do not watch Big Brother, that is one programme I will not give the time of day too.The Beauty day was great lovely products on there. Have a good weekend
    Love Jean X

    Hello Kay
I must admit to being a tad surprised that Denise won?! When it was down to the final three I thought it would be Gareth for sure. Oh well, over for another year.
It was fabulous to see Amica and although privately she must ask herself the question ‘why me’ her courage is outstanding.
Spain will have to wait until I next have a few days off unfortunately, particularly as it is soooooo cold here at the moment.

    Hi Alana
I hope you enjoyed Beauty Day on Saturday?? Sorry you haven’t been to the Beauty Bash yet – maybe next year – and I agree it’s a shame we didn’t do the live shows like we did last year – that was great fun! We have a couple of Beauty Bash highlight shows on Sunday but I’m not sure if there will be any footage of the event, as I don’t know if we had a camera crew there.
I was shocked that Gareth didn’t win CBB but I guess I had the option of picking up the phone and voting for him, and I didn’t.
If you are a Liz Earle fan it is her TSV on Saturday, including the new foundation.

    Hi Marian
Glad you enjoyed the Beauty Bash again – I hope you were going out in the evening with your ‘vampy’ make-up look?? – Those girls are so clever – did SJ do it?
Did you notice Keeley has also had her hair cut – looks lovely I think.
Not sure when Amica will be back on air just hoping it will be soon.

    Hello Eileen,
It’s funny when that whole ‘broke my dream’ thing happens isn’t it?
You are right that both Ali and Amica have shown tremendous courage. I send all good wishes for your cousin and everyone else having to cope with chemotherapy at the moment.
Thanks for your kind remark about my hair

    Hi Morag
What a shame you were unable to make the Beauty Bash due to distance – hopefully the team were able to pass your invitation on to someone else.
It was so good to see Amica she really is as lovely as she seems on your TV screens.

    Hello Jean
Glad to hear you enjoyed Beauty Day. You know if it wasn’t for having Daniel and Sophie living at home I’m not sure I would watch CBB either. Someone did suggest in a tweet that the QVC Presenters should go into the BB house – thankfully that will never happen as we need to be on QVC!
Ali is back on our screens and looking so well and hopefully it won’t be too long before we have Amica back too – it would be an enormous boost to her confidence I think.

    Hi Carole
There were a lot of people at the Beauty Bash and I think everyone had a good time and maybe picked up a few hints and tips. I can’t believe I actually managed to ‘tweet’ a photo or two, albeit with help on the first one.
So many people have asked about Amica that I just wanted to let everyone know that she is coping well.
    speak soon

    Hi again Julia
No night out as ‘a vamp’ I’m afraid. Unlike you, no one invited me out for so much as a glass of ‘Woo Woo’ (whatever that is)! Back home on the 7.30pm train and up for work the next day. Never mind, Chris seemed to like the look (if you know what I mean)!!
It was a lovely girl called Sara that did it, though I did have a little chat to SJ and Lee. Actually, I recited my BE poem to them:
Bare Escentuals is make up that’s wholesome and pure
If you’re in a make up rut, they’ve got the cure
Let their make up professionals SJ and Lee
Introduce you to this great brand on QVC
It’s quick and it’s easy, a pleasure to use
You can do it with your eyes shut if you so choose
It leaves your skin glowing and lasts all day long
I promise you ladies, you can’t get it wrong
So linger no longer and try this fab brand
There’s no better make up if you’re in demand
Just ditch all those pansticks and old powder puffs
And join the savvy ladies who swirl, tap and buff!
I think they liked it cos they asked me to put it on their facebook page – which I’ve done. I’d love a makeover with SJ. Back to ‘Julia’ll fix it’??!! lol!
Keeley looked radiant. I’m really looking forward to the Elemis mini series in March, are you?!!
    xx

    Hi again Marian
Just found your Bare Escentuals poem ….. clever girl! You deserve an SJ makeover just for that – not that you actually need one!
It was good to see Keeley over this last two days and as you say back again in March for the mini series – can’t wait!
