I was listening to Steve Wright in the afternoon on Radio 2 recently and they started talking about the muddley drawer… I've never heard the expression before but I think most of us can relate to it.
It was very entertaining radio and they were talking about those drawers in our homes that are full of random, but better keep incase, items!
I think most of us have a drawer like that. In fact we have two in our house. One in the kitchen, actually, two in the kitchen and one in the sideboard in the hallway. So that's three altogether!
Just about everything imaginable is in the muddley drawer from paper clips to rubber bands, bits of broken toys to an old stop watch, some unopened letters, a few pebbles and an old cassette case! I recently came across this old photo of me… I once had curly hair!
The lesson learnt was to not 'over fill' the muddley drawer and then pop a book on top of the pile. The book crammed on top can sometimes jam and prevents the drawer from opening meaning the muddley contents can't be easily accessed… The strangest thing I've found in a muddley drawer is a remote control to which I have no idea what it controls!?
Onto less muddley matters… I've a few days off now. We're not heading anywhere, we're staying at home (I think staycation is the term!). We've some lovely local walks we're yet to try with the puppies (not so small now at 6 months) and there's a big tub of emulsion with a roller staring at me which I'm determined to open… but I may find an excuse and have to go for another walk!
We'll be focusing much of our attention on emeralds throughout the hour and we will also see the popular return of the fabulous Zodiac pendant, of which I bought the Pisces option for my Mum.
Congratulations to those who won one of the signed Sooty photos, it was fun reading your favourite memories! Thank you for entering.
The winners are Jasmine, Suzanne and Mila – your prizes will be winging their way to you soon!
Ok, better sign off, the puppies are itching for a walk around the block… I've a feeling the leads are in one of the muddley drawers… Hope it isn't jammed!
Take care Charlie x
