The ‘El Pacos’!!!

69

An animal at the bottom of Julia's garden No I'm not talking about a Spanish guitar group that I saw during my recent holiday in Spain, I'm talking about the new additions to the field at the bottom of our garden – I should explain!

While Daniel and I were away, the previously empty field became populated with animals – see picture (left). Actually, I say previously empty, but at one point I thought there was a big white rabbit living in it! It didn't seem to move much, and it was only on closer inspection that I realised it was a deflated football that our neighbour's dog plays with!!! I keep telling you my eyesight is getting worse!

Animals in the field near Julia's house Anyway, initally we thought they were llamas, but I'm now thinking they're alpacas?? If you know definitively please put me out of my misery!

So why 'El Pacos'? Well my partner Chris has a tendency toward malapropisms (the usually unintentionally humorous misuse or distortion of a word) and that is what he keeps calling them, much to the amusement of the rest of the family!
Animals at the bottom of Julia's garden
There are three large animals and two smaller animals, which are either baby alpacas or goats, and they are so cute! They roll around in the grass and frisk about, but the funniest is when they come face to face with the horses in the paddock next door. It looks like the alpacas just want to be friendly but the horses don't seem so sure! I haven't seen any 'spitting' going on, but maybe that's just llamas, not alpacas??

Looks like we may be in for a pleasant weekend weatherwise so I hope you enjoy it and all the fab shows on QVC…

See you soon,
Julia x

I don’t have anything as interesting at the bottom of my garden Julia! Good photos though – did you take them yourself?
Hope you have a good weekend Julia. Palace v Scunny this weekend – massive game. Are you going? We play St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday. I am also going to the SECC in Glasgow on Sunday to see Peter Kay. That should be a good laugh. I think there is about 7 of us going.
Hope you have a fab weekend and Palace get a result xxxxxxxx

    Morning Julia
Was LOVELY to see you back yesterday. We all missed you. I have to say, the break has done you good. You look amazing.
I have absolutely no idea what these animals are, but they look gorgeous, and sound like they would be very amusing to watch.
I like Chris style, very funny. I have a tendency to make up my own words, or use the wrong one at the strangest time (see Ali Ks blog!!!!!!!LOL) and the conversations take on a whole new meaning!
Anyway, just had to say its nice to have you back in our homes. Its a shame you missed Keeley last week, she was in grand form, spilling water and falling over, nothing new there then LOL!!!!

The large animals are alpacas. It`s difficult to be sure of the small ones from your photo, but I would think they are most probably young alpacas. I think the ones I often see in a field near a local farm shop garding hundreds of hens will be El Pacos in future! glad you and Daniel enjoyed your holiday. Love from Iris

    Hi Julia
I’m sorry I don’t know what your animals are but I wanted to comment on the deflated football! You see we have 2 6 month old puppies and a few weeks ago whilst my husband walked them around a field near our house he too spotted something white in the distance. He said to the dogs “lets go and see what that is”.On finding it was a deflated football and with no-one else in the field he started kicking it about the field. And then he spotted the goal posts!! Of course he thought he was Pele and decided to score a goal, and you’ve guessed it he kicked it,fell on his behind and sprained his wrist.Oh how I laughed when he came in.Men eh! Take Care Julia x

    Hello Julia,
It’s so great to have you back on our screens, It’s just not the same without you, Although I do love watching you all.
I am not certain what those animals are but I don’t think they are llamas – But me and wildlife are not the best of friends, I much prefer the hustle of a busy city.
Talking of wildlife, I have a funny story for you… There was a baby Squirrel in my recycling bin this week – Although I did not know if was alive or not, scared as I was of this teeny tiny squirrel I picked the whole bin up (with the lid still on it – as i was screaming) threw it and kicked the bottom and ran away waiting for the Squirrel to run out… only to go back an hour later to discover it was still in the bin as it was only a a pile of wet leaves… Thats the last time I take the rubbish out without my glasses…
Hope you and your family are well…

    Hi Julia,
Not a comment on the animals – though I’d say Alapacas too. My friend works at a zoo and he’d know for definate! Just read one of your replies to a lady about polio – and made me think that I’d read an article on Pamela Stevenson. Not sure if you watched Strictly but she was amazing! Hard to believe she’s 60! Anyway, she believe it or not had polio and it was dancing that helped her. Just thought you’d maybe be interested in that little fact?

    Hi Steven
Well I did go to watch the boys on Saturday but unfortunately we didn’t get the result we needed so the Doncaster game on Good Friday takes on massive significance – it really is squeaky b…..m time now!! We were not helped by the Ref – I hope he was just poor and not biased!
Guess what we watched on Sunday?? The Scottish Cup semi final between Celtic and Aberdeen. I know what you are thinking that I was supporting Celtic cos of my sisters family – actually not. Dan and Sophie went to school with Rob Milsom who plays for Aberdeen and we are all still in touch with him, so we were hoping they would win – not to be sadly! Maybe Palace should take a look at Rob he’s ex Fulham and a really good midfielder!
    Hope you enjoyed Peter Kay??

    Hi Julia
Couldnt believe when I checked and you guys had lost. Was certain that would be another 3 points. That would have virtually gaurenteed survival. I’m keeping everything crossed. Must be a nightmare to be fighting down the bottom. WE play Dundee Utd tomorrow and have got a small game against Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday which is virtually a League decider. Ha you are right I did automatically think ‘oh well I know who you were supporting’ Never mind Robert Milsom I think it was my influence that swayed you!!!
Peter Kay was excellent thanks. I would highly recommend it. Very funny indeed, you’ll need to look out for it when the DVD comes out.
Back to work for me tomorrow but it’s a nice short week for the Easter weekend. Saw you last night on QVC once I came back in from PK. Looking wonderful as always Jules
Take care and can I trust you won’t be supporting your sisters team on Sunday again??!!!!!!!

    Hi Susan
No I didn’t watch ‘Strictly’ I am more of an X Factor fan! I did know that Pamela Stephenson had polio -like everything there are varying degrees of disability after a serious illness like that and I think it also depends on whether you are affected on one side or both. Mine was only on the left side, but all the way up to my waist – that is why it has left me so lopsided despite years of dancing and swimming and physiotherapy. I’m not complaining though, it could have been so much worse.
I think we’re agreed they are alpacas but if your zoo friend wants to add their opinion it would be gratefully received.

    Hi Julia
Your Alpacaelpacos, should keep you quite amused. They look quite odd but in a good way!
Will try to watch your Elemis show, but I have an appointment earlier in the day, and if the traffic is bad, I may get held up. I wonder if you could do me a HUGE favour and check with Keeley if its ok to use the Gentle Rose Exfoliator 5 times a week. I did cut down to 4, but I miss it! I did leave a message on Alisons blog, but so far theres no replies. I will record the show just incase. I wonder if you will get a cuddle from Kaia. Hes just ADORABLE isnt he.
Did a certain someone manage to get the beautiful epiphany ring they were hinting at?!!
I have a BIG birthday coming up shortly. My husband said he would like to get me a piece of jewellery, would that be alright with me?!! Well, it would be rude not to accept wouldnt it!? I decided I would like some Tanzanite and was browsing the high street, but was quite surprised at the prices. However, I knew in my head what it had to look like. I came home and found the EXACT style on QVC. Why would I even go to the high street! The thing is, its epiphany, AND it was in last clicks. My husband couldnt believe it!
The ring arrived last week, and its perfect. I tried a couple on in the high street and the colour is exactly right, amazing.
My husband disappeared last night with the laptop, and came downstairs to say that with the money he saved on the ring, hes booked us a mini break in York. Ive always wanted to go, but have never been, so im VERY excited.
Will be watching the B&W show, havent seen Simon for ages.
My good wishes to your lovely Mum and the rest of the family.

How fantastic that you got such a bargain on your Tanzanite ring and now you get to go to York ….. result! Were you watching the Premiere Tanzanite show on Tuesday? Did you see the ring I liked??
Speaking of rings, no Sophie didn’t get the Eternity band she liked cos it had sold out by the time I got off air.

Me again! What a shame Sophie didnt get the ring she likes. You can go on waitlist, or you should,ve used Q cut, tut tut!!! LOL!!
I am so pleased that I managed to get the Tanzanite one. I cant remember the number, but its princess cut and has tapered baguettes either side. I ADORE it, and getting it at that price was such a bonus. My husband kept asking if I was certain I wanted it, because its “not real” HELLO!!! Its gorgeous, who cares and whos going to know! I have a one carat diamond engagement ring, which is beautiful, but frankly, its not a patch on diamonique.
I did see the one you like. Its just beautiful. Tanzanite is a lovely stone. Im not a fan of sapphire, I just dont think it suits my skin tone. I have an aquamarine too, so Tanzanite is a lovely alternative. I wore it out yestreday, and couldnt believe the colours coming through when the sun caught it. (I know, not my birthday yet, OOOOPS!)

I asked him the question which sparked of a discussion for half an hour on llamas amongst the whole family lol.
The main difference is to spot the shape of the the ears. llamas have long banana-shaped ears while alpacas have shorter spear-shaped ears! ok there you have it! at one point my 12 year old newhew disapeared to research it online lol

Just read your Blog Julia Re jeans,(Naughty Girl), yes Diane should bring more smaller sizes in her jeans, they are the ones that sell the most.Size 8 would be great, the waist probably would be 27- 28″ and the hips 36-37″ ideal. Because a 30″ waist is very generous for a size 10. But ive just had a word with the girl who took my Ronnie Nicole dresses in for me, and she will take the jeans in on the size 10, quite a bit of work, but she is a clever girl.

I never have any luck with Alison getting back to me either sorry! I wonder about Vit E and Cotton gel as well as Cucumber? Not sure which would help the most as they all seem to ‘soothe’. Also know Liz Earle Eyebright can def be used. But wondered specifically about relief from the longer lasting SBC gels.
    Thanks!

    Hi Susan
I thoroughly enjoyed the wedding – I was very proud to be British, what a great advertisement for our country!
Ali is in tonight so I will leave her a note to ask her about Propolis on the eyelids – she never recommended it for me, but I was so bad I couldn’t use any beauty products, only pure oils like avocado and wheatgerm, and I didn’t put them too close to the eyes as blinking makes product ‘travel’.
I will ask her for you

    Hi Julia and Susan
WOW!!! Two lots of Zumba… who is going to be stiff in the morning!
Well done, I’m completely jealous of course…6 months ago I would have been dancing around with you, but even though I’m not able to dance or jump around yet, I have ordered on advance and it is something to work towards in the future…at least I can do the arm movements if nothing else LOL!
Sorry missed the Padders, we had a bit of drama here with Bobby. A lady stopped to ask about the house (still on the market) and made a fuss of Bobby who was all waggy tails, she then asked if she could pick him up. I wasn’t keen and gave Chris the ‘Roberts’ look, because Bobby didn’t know her, but Chris went ahead and said yes…next thing, she dropped him from chest height onto the gravel, he landed on his head and side and yelped! She said she was sorry and that she hadn’t picked a dog up before. Needless to say she soon left!
Later Bobby started limping so Chris took him to the vet, nothing broken but he could be bruised. He’s been sick a couple of times since, so tomorrow morning he’s got to go in for X-Rays, just to make sure.
Hope you’re not too stiff after your Zumba marathon!
    love

Susan – Ali’s blogg mentions mixing SBC Collagen Gel with Arnica Gel for puffiness around the eyes, if that’s any help x

    Hi Julia and Annette,
Oh Annette I am sure you were traumatised seeing your little one being dropped like that! I can identify as an animal lover myself…I hope he settles after a bit of TLC and good vet care. Let us know. I admire you for ordering the Zumba and having the determination to do the arms in the meantime Annette..what a trooper you are after all you’ve had to contend with!
Thanks both for your suggestions re my eyes…I risked it and used the collagen and propolis on them…no reaction. I was nervous though! They are calming down from what they were but bit flaky and sore still. Hope Ali has some advice! I didn’t realise you could use pure oils on the lids Julia – thanks. I don’t know if you had flaky eyelids? A few of my friends have been troubled with hayfever and having never had it I though no it’s not that…but could be? Have to keep an eye on it – pardon the pun. I do think the girl who does my eyebrows is probably right though in saying it’s a flare up due to stress. Stressful time is calming down and the eyes seem to be following suit. Interesting our old bodies hey!
Thanks and look forward to Ali’s input too Julia.
    Take care
    Susan
PS Your Zumba was hilarious! Good to have a chuckle! What dancing did you do and for how long Julia – just out of interest?

    Hi Annette
    I hope Bobby is ok??
I’m not too stiff today but I bet the dancers who were here all day were aching a bit! Well done you for ordering the Zumba – to start with you can just walk through the moves until your ankle is a bit stronger and you can do plenty of hip wiggling LOL!!!
It was very infectious wasn’t it – Matt and Enrico were great fun.
    Big love to Bobby

    Hi Julia,
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Zumba shows with your good self and Anne Dawson. I ordered mine during my lunchtime of the TSV day and am so glad that I did! I can’t wait for the end of May to come to receive it on advanced order. You looked fabulous and Anne has done so well to lose her weight and inches too – you’re both an inspiration to me so I hope to carry on the trend and be much lighter, fitter and toned by the end of this year.
    Much love
    Caz xxx

Hi Julia you must have been a happy girl at the weekend with your team winning to virtually gaurentee safety. Don’t know if you heard or not but we are back in pole position in Scotland. Celtic lost 3-2 to Caley Thistle last night. There are 3 games left for both sides and we are a point ahead. Squeaky bum time. It’s shifted from you to me now ha!
One more thing I meant to ask you. What is Zumba? I noticed a preview for it the other day but never actually saw any of the shows
    Take care

    Hi Julia
Cant wait to get my Zumba started! Really enjoyed watching the shows.
Annette, I hope Bobby is ok. How dreadful, poor wee soul. Hope the ankle is improving, and you are feeling a bit more normal.xx

    Hi Julia
Glad to hear you weren’t too stiff…I had visions of you dancing away in your conservatory, next to your AeroPilates machine! I relly enjoyed watching you and the guys!
Given Bobby your love and he sends lots of love’n’licks back! The vet gave Bobby a pre-med to do the X-Ray and he had his microchip fitted at the same time. His shoulder is OK and he checked his tummy too, which was also OK, thank goodness, but he did some bloods and a couple of things turned up, which could relate to his dickie tummy and he will have to have more blood tests in a couple of weeks. Apparently its nothing serious and can be treated with tablets. He was really spaced out and very wobbly when we got him home and his tongue was sticking out between his lips for quite some time afterwards, which was quite funny!
I was furious with Chris at the time, because when it happened he didn’t move and just stood there and I couldn’t get to Bobs because I didn’t have my crutch. I didn’t say anything because I think he felt guilty enough without me adding to it!
Must go to do my AeroPilates, before I stiffen up!
    love

    Hi Susan
Just replied to Julia about Bobby…he’s much better now and has had lots of TLC, thank you.
Thanks also for calling me a trooper, it’s hard sometimes and you have good and bad days…for instance, we went for a meal before collecting Bobby and the ankle felt fine, almost normal, no pinching, stinging around the scar area, which it does sometimes. Then yesterday, it was swollen most of the day and aching…it’s like you do well one day and pay for it the next…never mind eh!
About your eyes again, I do suffer on the odd occassion from eczema on the browbone and under eyes too…even Gatineau’s Floracil stings and I can’t put anything on makeup wise. Unfortunately, I’ve ended up at the Drs and had steroid cream, so will be interested to see what Ali says also.
    Take care

    Hi Susan
I asked Ali Young about the eczema on your eyes – she said keep it simple. If you have dry, flaky skin she suggested L’Occitane Shea Butter. I didn’t put the oils on my mobile lid – as I explained blinking makes the product travel so just put it around the orbital bone – hope the shea butter helps.
I did ballet modern and tap as a child and when I turned professional I did cabaret and theatre shows and the cruise liners. I worked as a dancer for just over 5 years before moving into television. Probably all sounds very glam but pretty hard work too!
    speak soon

    Hi Caz
Thanks for the lovely compliments and glad you took the plunge and ordered your Zumba. I think it’s a great way to learn the steps and to use at home when you can’t get to a class, but if you can get to a class as well I think you’d really enjoy it!
Keep me posted on your progress when you get started

    Hi Steven
Yes I heard that Celtic lost to Inverness CT so you are in control of your own destiny now!
What a relief to get a point at Hull last weekend to guarantee another season of Championship football – felt sorry for the teams that went down though, never nice for the fans! We have Forest at home tomorrow but I’m not going as always struggle a bit cheering against my home town.
Zumba is a type of latin american dancercise – very energetic, but good fun.
Good luck for the rest of the season

    Hi Annette
Pleased to hear that Bobby is OK – poor love. They are very funny after anaesthetic aren’t they? Poppy had to have a dental op about a month ago and she was very groggy to start with but it wore of quite quickly thankfully.
Don’t be too cross with Chris – probably a delayed reaction.
Did you see Ali’s advice for Susan about eczema prone eyes? She recommended L’Occitane Shea Butter particularly if you have a lot of dry flaky skin.
Marjolein and Pilates are back next weekend – are you going to ring in??

    Hi Una
Bobby is OK and back to his old self now, tinkering around!
I’ve just read Anne’s page and what you said about being resonably fit and then the weight creeping on without realising it. I know eactly what you mean…when I came out of hospital I was 10st 4lbs or thereabouts and not being as mobile as I was, I am now 11st 7lbs…eeek!
Hopefully, like yourself, adapting the Zumba will help as well as pilates and we’ll soon be back to our slim selves. I’ve actually had a go already even though mine was on advance order…I recorded Julia’s last show and when watching back press pause followed by fast forward and it plays at 1/2 speed, so although I don’t have the music etc I can follow the movements and really enjoyed doing a few very basic steps yesterday!
Lets see how we both get on.

    Hi Julia
Thanks for the advice re: Shea Butter, will give it a go next time I have a break out. It’s a good job Susan asked the question.
Yes, I will definitely phone in when Marjolein is on at the weekend and I must appologise profusely to you, having asked for my details, I am embarrassed to say, that I did write you a letter with all good intentions of sending it to you and was mortified when I found the envelope yesterday, tucked in a drawer amongst a load of paperwork!! I remember now, we had a number of viewings a few weeks back and you know how you stuff things away in every nook and cranny, well I must have scooped it up and shoved it away, not giving it another thought! Will get Chris to post it to you on his way to work tomorrow….sorry!

    Hi Julia
Look forward to speaking to you too, but as you said to Matt in your Zumba show “be gentle with me”!
Hopefully the letter will arrive too, depends on where Chris has posted it from. Saying that I had two letters arrive yesterday informing me that my glasses were ready, one was dated 6th and one 10th and I had already collected them!

    Hi Julia
It was really nice speaking to both you and Marjolein last night. It was quite funny because you were pointing your finger, telling me to phone in and I was already hanging on the phone waiting!
Chris recorded it and I can’t get over my perception of how I sound and how I actually did…
I think Chris would have bought the Body Bar, had it been available as an accessory addition, hopefully something Marjolein will consider for the future, we’ll certainly snap one up!
    Thank you again

    Hi Annette
I only just found these two messages – so I got your letter eventually but after you called in!!!
I agree about having the pull up bar as a seperate item – in fact I mentioned it to the supplier. I think they may do it eventually but it’s not in the pipeline at the moment. You could try what one of the other bloggers suggested and put the footbar in place of the risers?? I haven’t tried it yet but it may be OK??
Will also reply to your other comment
    love
