I hope all’s well, as always – I managed to grab a week away from The Q last week and much to Mrs F’s delight we went sofa shopping and gave our living room a decorative refresh! I still managed to get out and about with the dogs and stumbled across my first adder of the season, you may remember in my last blog I included a photo taken last year, so I thought I’d add (sorry) another pic of a colourful male.
Closer to home Ellie chased a fledgling Blackbird into a corner and much to my delight and surprise once cornered she just gave it a sniff and walked away! For her it’s all about the chase. I picked it up and placed it on the table where it basked in the sunshine for a few moments and flew off into a nearby bush – none the worse for it’s first venture away from it’s nest, but not before I grabbed a quick shot with my phone.
I’ll be launching two new Today’s Special Values (TSVs) this weekend – first off it’s the brilliant Dyson AM09 Hot + Cool fan – we’ve shown this as a TSV previously and I remembered it was a massive success – so I’m thrilled that it’s back – it’s truly an all-year-round purchase delivering a configurable blast of hot air in colder months or the cooling benefits of a powerful fan in summer using Dyson’s amazing Air Multiplier technology. We have one at home and you may remember this pic of Toby taking advantage of a blast of cooling air. I hope you can join myself at midnight Saturday.
Then on Sunday at midnight I’ll be launching Monday’s Today’s Special Value in the form of a full HD in-car camera from RAC. The RAC 210 also boasts Wi-Fi, speed camera data and GPS – this feature allows it to accurately report and imprint both your speed and GPS co-ordinates onto your video. There are a host of other features such as the ability to transfer video to your smart phone via Wi-Fi, and it also records audio. I’ve had it in my car for a day or so and recorded some footage to give you an idea of the full HD video quality – we’ll be offering it at a fantastic price and including a soft carry case and an 8GB micro SD card.

So many now regularly use in-car cameras, often called ‘dash cams’ as part of their driving routine – it could save a lot of hassle if you are unfortunately involved in an incident on the road whilst in your car. As we all know in many cases we drivers tend to think it’s not our fault and the increasing use of cameras has often helped to sort things out and that surely will give us all added peace of mind. There are also less obvious benefits in having an in-car camera that constantly records in a bright wide angle what’s happening to the front and front sides of your vehicle with 127 degree view. Although guest Julien Pollack and I will try and cover as many aspects as we can on-air, you may still have questions regarding in-car cameras – so please feel free to tweet, text or call in to the studio.
Until next time … stay cool and keep recording !
