We were down to eight and the kids and my wife came back with two new girls from the local farm to introduce to the existing flock. We got a speckled Marin (left) and A.N.Other (below left) which we think might be a Barnevelder.
My son instantly gave them the names of Coco and Chanel, which is a bit worrying as we had no idea he was even aware of such designer brands! (Goodness knows what’s in store when he becomes a teenager!).
You really see where some expressions come from when you introduce some newcomers to an existing little community. The others seem to take in turn to peck the newbies constantly and this 'hen pecking' seems to continue relentlessly until the new 'pecking order' is established.
Let’s hope for Coco and Chanel’s sake, they sort things out soon or I’ll have to call in Gok Wan to see how to make the girls look good naked!
All the best,
