The cats of Chez Huntley enjoying the snow!

Hey everyone..I hope you are all well & managing to keep snug, comfy and cozy in this weather.

Many of you may know that my cats are indoor cats but they get the occasional wander on their little 'doggie' harnesses (as bought from QVC, of course!!). I know, I know…crazy cat lady. One of my friends saw these piccies and said 'Catherine, you get more and more eccentric every day'!

Snowcats etc 014 Snowcats etc 025 Eccentric cat lady? Moi?

They were very intrigued. Poor Pixiecat (above left) began shivering after a couple of minutes, bless her little heart. I guess she's used to the Barbadian temperatures of my house..everyone complains it's like a sauna!

Babycat (above right) loved the snow and had a lot more fur to keep out the chill the Pixie! You should have seen the way their paws touched the surface and then as they put weight on to their paws they'd suddenly sink a few inches!

Snowcats etc 032 Snowcats etc 051

Dinky (far left) was so cute sniffing the snow. He probably has the longest nose out of all of them but doesn't seem to realise that so it dipped into the snow with each sniff. If you click on his pic you can see some stuck to his little mouth!

Popsie (above right) was quite comfy just plonking her bulky little body down in the snow! I can't imagine sticking my bare bum down into all that freezing snow but she seemed to think it was the cat's meow!

They got lots of treats when we came back inside again, too. Such adorable little creatures.

Please tell me what your pets thought of all the snow…I was tempted to make a snow cat but never got around to it in the end. Did you make a snow pet? I'd love to hear all about it!

Love Catherine x

PS If you like to keep warm, like me, I have a beautiful Today's Special Value from Cashmasoft coming up tonight at midnight. Very luxurious and really great value as there are three pieces for under £30!

Catherine – what cute pictures! My two are indoor cats so don’t really get to investigate the snow properly. Which is probably just as well since Gracie is a petite little creature and would probably have disappeared under it! Gracie isn’t the least bit interested and won’t even watch it falling! Erin loves to watch the snow but was completely non-plussed when I brought some inside for her and her sister to investigate. I mistakenly thought they were missing out on the experience so placed a little snowball on the doormat. Gracie refused to go anywhere near it and Erin approached it cautiously, poked it once with her paw, hurrumphed and went back to sit under the radiator! I think I may have made them too soft!
Love your hair, by the way! I, too, keep changing mine around (colour and cut) although it is quite short now and layered so that it doesn’t get so messed up under a woolly hat – or at least now it looks deliberate!

What lovely pictures Catherine, your cats are lovely – I take it Babycat is a Maine Coon? I absolutely adore Maine Coons.
My dog, Woody, was hilarious in the snow, to begin with he didn’t quite know what to make of it, but once he got outside he was running round like mad, jumping through the deeper bits, investigating snowmen, he absolutely loved it!
I didn’t get round to making a snow pet (I made a very miserable snowman that only lasted about 30 minutes before someone kicked him over), but someone round where we live made a snow penguin – it was brilliant!

We were in and put of the snow so fast that our Mum couldn’t take any photos! Tee hee!
Just as well as on one occasion Smudge flipped up a lot of snow with his front paw(which as you know is huge! Like a bears paw!) and while he was catching the smaller half of the snowball the rest of it came down onto my head!
Hope you N the Huntleys with ears on top of their heads, and those with them at the sides(which is a silly place to have them if you ask me!)all stay safe and warm. Happy New Year!

Love the pics, Catherine. Thanks for sharing. Your cats are gorgeous, especially Babycat. : ) I have two very pampered house rabbits, Honey and Jess. They love their home comforts too, especially their furry beds and they love watching TV! I did get them leads once but because they are not normal rabbits (they are Lion Heads) they wouldn’t fit them! Love your blog. QVC is just fantastic. I’ve bought so many different things and particularly love the jewellery, especially Diamonique and Honora Pearls. I think all of the presenters are fab. : )

Hi Catherine, your cats look so cute and adorable. Over Christmas I made the decision to bring my dad’s cat home with me to look after as my dad is currently ill in hospital and it might be months before he better again.
The 145 mile journey back to Surrey on the M40 with Misty in a cat carrier in the back seat of my car wasnt fun judgIng by all the crying she did. Thankfully though Misty has settled in really well to her new surroundings! At 18 she doesnt really go out much so she will be a house cat now in my 1st floor flat!
I too have brought her a harness to take her for little walks but at the moment I am going to wait until all the snow clears! Incidently, Misty has very simiar colourings to one of your cats in the photo-Popsie. Do you know what sort of cat that is- I have no idea!
Your hair looks fab by the way- i prefer it when you had a darker bob though but it suits you shorter, much better than the hair extensions.
    Love Anthea

    Hi Nicola,
Loved hearing about your cats. You’re so cute bringing in the snow for them! How fab!
Glad it’s beginning to melt now but I will miss the beauty of the white sparkling snow!
    Take care,

    Hi Chrissi,
The only other Chrissi I know is my daughter, Chrissie! Are you a Christina, too?
How sweet Woody is, eh? I love watching the dogs run around in snow, they’re like big kids!
Yes, Baby is a Maine Coon cat. She was my mother’s until I moved her from Cornwall to be close to me. She is in sheltered/warden monitored accomodation and they are not able to have pets there so rather than Baby hving to be rehomed with strangers I adopted her. She was the runt of her litter and has very short and slightly deformed, almost buckled, legs. It doesn’t bother her at all but she has a fabulous ‘waddle’ that makes her extra special!
Sorry to hear about your snowman! Snow violence is rife across the land! Having said that, our ‘Snowmeo and Juliet’ are still standing but they look like they are taking a bow as they have bent forward.
    Keep well & happy,
    Love Catherine x

    Hi John,
No, I don’t take them for proper walkies…I might just get laughed at a bit too much where I live!
I just take them into the back garden for a little explore occasionally but, as they’re not used to it, they tire of it before me and want to come back in.
    Hope you’re well!

    Hi Felix & Smudge!
Sounds like you had some snow fun but I bet you’re enjoying snuggling back in the warm now.
It’s all beginning to thaw here now so the feline posse at Chez Huntley won’t be venturing back out anytime soon. I have a feeling freezing cold dirty slush won’t have the same appeal as fluffy pure white snow.
Have a tickle under the chin from me and say hi to your ma!
    Love Catherine & co!

    Hi Corinne,
Honey and Jess sound lovely. Beautiful names, too. I’ve just googled the Lion Head rabbit breed. How adorable they are!
Thanks for your kind words about QVC, the presenters and the jewellery. I am a massive Diamonique fan, too. I love pretty much all of the jewellery but I think Diamonique in all of it’s guises is my absolute favourite.
Lots of love to you & the bunnies!

    Hi Anthea,
I’m really sorry to hear about your dad’s illness. I know so many people who are struggling just now. Very hard especially when it’s around the festive period. I wish him as speedy a recovery as possible.
Poor Misty, they do so hate car journeys, don’t they? Lucky Misty having you, though. My Popsie is a British Shorthair Silver Tabby breed..her sister Pixie is, too, but Popsie has all the typical podgie Cheshire cat characterstics wheras Pixie is a skinny little scrap by comparison, bless her!
Thanks for the comments about my hair. I did love the extensions but then I loved it in a dark bob, too. The only thing with having it my natural dark brown is that the grays are coming through so I just decided to go with camouflaging highlights!
Hope you keep as well as can be. Love to you, your dad & Misty.

Ah Catherine, your Babycat is almost the split of my wonderful tortie tabby Maine Coon baby, Saska (I say baby, but she’s 15 months as is her humongous stonking great red mackerel tabby brother Dylan!). In fact we love them so much that a couple of months ago I got another male (from the same parents), Jazzamatazz, who is a brown classic tabby and an absolute monster – well a honey monster really … Dylan is the only one of the Maine Coons who went out in the snow (we also have 6 Ragdolls -we must be gluttons for punishment!); he went into our very securely fenced and gated back garden and was SO funny. He wouldn’t walk on the fresh snow and kept leaping into OH’s footprints, contorting himself and making some very dramatic leaps. For once he was happy to come back in PDQ! Keep posting the kitty pics, they are all gorgeous. Sarah & the Super Stars x

    Hi Sarah,
Lovely to hear from you. I really enjoy hearing about other peoples cats. I just wish we had a photo facility on here for everyone to show their cats off..maybe one day.
I’d be in heaven spending a day at your house with all your lovely cats! Ragdolls look so so adorable and, of course, Maine Coons are very special. I love the little wispy bits of fur that extrude from their paws!
I wish I could have seen Dylan in the snow! That sounds hilarious..they are such a pleasure to watch aren’t they?
How on earth do you deal with all those cat hairs, though? I only have one long haired cat and I’m constantly picking ultra fine hairs off my lashes, out of my mouth, clothes and so on!
Much love to you and the feline family!
    Catherine x
