The Breast Cancer Care ball

QVC presenters with Lisa Snowdon I was at the grand ball of Breast Cancer Care last night and it was quite an occasion. I was outside in Park Lane, the main entrance to the Grosvenor hotel, in my kilt clutching an invitation and thinking "who would have thought I'd be going to such a swanky event"?

This year it was very personal to us, as Ali and Amica have both been through their own personal breast cancer journeys.  Ali was due to make a speech, which we all knew would be very difficult for her.

Here's a picture above, to show you how gorgeous our girls looked as they posed with Lisa Snowdon in front of a wall of photographers!

Ali delivered her very personal speech beautifully and, for the first time in all the years I have been going to the BCC event, she received a standing ovation from the audience of about 1,000 people!  We were very proud of Ali and she showed us how strong she is.

Our big breast cancer care event is on Wednesday 12th starting at 19.00 and I will be hosting it with Debbie Greenwood.  We will probably be able to show some of Ali's speech then and she's popping in for a bit too. I hope you'll join us for three hours of fun and shop for some great things all at BCC prices.

This year I hope we'll raise half a million pounds!!

Hi Simon, Just had a problem sending my comment-so will try again. Thank you for your blog. You took a GREAT picture of the girls. I will certainly be watching QVC on Weds to hear Alison’s speech and hopefully to see her. I will be watching with Love and Respect for Ali and Amica and all they have been through, and everyone else that will be there. I have seen you before wearing your kilt with Tova Borgnine and you looked handsome. Give Alison and Amica a hug and kiss from me and let them know I am thinking of them.
    Much Love

    Thanks Babs, Valerie and Marian
It has certainly brought home to me the number of people who have been affected by breast cancer but thanks to Breast cancer Care, nobody has to go through it alone. I feel very privileged to be able to take part in the event and raise some money for an extremely worthwhile cause. Valerie, I know it must feel like a scary rollercoaster for you but you have a lot of support out there and I’m sure Wednesday night will give you great encouragement for the forthcoming months. My thoughts are with you.
    Love Simon X
