Another comp next week though – see below for news of the big Discover Smart Homes draw and fab prizes!
RIWISI – MY BIG NEWS
The big news is that they’ve given me a publishing contract for my Hawaiian Affair trilogy, and I’m so excited! It’s what I’ve been aiming for ultimately and it’s come a lot sooner than I thought it would!
It’s the support that makes the difference when you’re with a publisher rather than just going it alone, and being part of their network of wonderful authors, and being aided by their helpful editing team will be a massive step, going forward!
For the complete announcement, and what it actually means to me, go here to my website RiWiSi page, where you will also be able to subscribe to my newsletter (so you’re the first to know things in future) – plus find out about:
– Audio book of the week – the excellent ‘Watch Over Me’ by Daniel Sacerdoti
– Author Lynda Renham’s launch party on Facebook this Sunday – as ‘Rory’s Proposal’ is released.
– And links to all my novels, short stories, and other titles on eBook

ROAD RACE RAGE – SURREY UNDER LOCKDOWN – AGAIN!
All morning the amateurs rode by – we live close to the A25 route but can’t get out of our road either end all-day long – then the elite group span by in the afternoon.
Having watched the majority of them pass us; Lauren, Nick and I then decided to go for a walk – not only with crazy Baloo (see below) but with containers for blackberrying.
However, as you may recall, Sunday was a bit of a nightmare weather-wise, and just as we began picking, the heavens opened, so all we ended up with was this paltry amount! They taste lovely with some apple tho!
Hopefully that’s it for the road closures for another year? I think they should just close the M25 and have them cycle round and round THAT all day – that’d be fine by me! Lol! Seriously tho’ it was quite a spectacle!

CRAZY BALOO CORNER
Crazy Baloo, my dear daughter’s spaniel, and my ‘grandpog’, is currently creating mayhem with her unbounded enthusiasm. She’s so funny and the poor dog does love a stick!
But she can control herself sometimes – look how disciplined she is when Nick (my DD’s BF!) tells her to wait, at the top of a hill half way round our walk. She knows there’s a cool stream at the end of the little hill – watch this!
I’ll miss her when she’s gone to their new home, and she’ll probably miss my three labradors too. But they’ll be getting another little black spaniel puppy to keep her company at some stage, so I’ll keep you informed!
Lauren and Nick exchanged contracts on their new place in Farnham this week, so it’ll soon be all systems go, renovating and refurbishing. I do like decorating work, having done my own share of plastering, wallpapering, tiling and laying down laminate flooring before. The first time I did laminate floor though, I didn’t realise that you needed underlay! Oops! That house in Peterborough probably echoes when people walk around up in that bedroom, much more than it should! Lol!
BACK TO YOU – Two weeks to go ’till it starts again!
For those of you who don’t know, our well-being show Back to You returns weekly from the 1st September. A little bird told me that Bodyblade Bruce will be back in the second week! We’ll have a competition to win one at some stage too.
Meanwhile, the Freedom Eating and exercise continues – the above pic was taken this week in a fab (ahem, size 12!) Tiana B dress. (Ok it’s a big 12)!
Find out exactly what my routine has been on the latest Back to You Monday Update on my website – and how you could do it too! Plus – why French children aren’t fat, and L J Rich on living with synaesthesia.
Also you’ll find a summary of what our guests said in the live chatroom on our Facebook B2U Hub last Monday (11th). Go to find out what Antthony, Will Gowing and – a late addition – Marie Francoise, had to say about their lifestyles!
Join the Facebook group ‘Back to You QVC’ now to be sure you can take part and ask those burning questions – including how he lost three stone last year! Or camera questions – like how to take shots like this one.
– Plus, lovely Catherine Huntley will be dropping by – she’s also got a new regime she’ll be sharing with you all too. (See Facebook Funny from Catherine below!)
– Newsflash! AND what’s more, an extra treat – Laura Geller herself is 90% likely to be dropping in too. Just confirming at time of writing, so look out for announcements on my Facebook or Twitter (links to those are below – do ‘like’ my Facebook Debbie Flint Author page here to get info first).
Come be on camera
If you’re near the Chiswick area on Tuesday (19th) come find our QVC camera crew, who will be out shooting vox pops (little videos) with passersby ready for the new series of Back to You. I aim to be at 210 Chiswick High Road, outside Carvasso’s Wine Bar on the corner of Windmill Road, between 1.40pm and 3pm.
Look on my Twitter or Facebook page for the exact location we’re filming at and come say hi or record a quick chat. If you would like any of my paperbacks signed feel free to bring them along!
Sneaky peek – biggest news of the month, (maybe of the year for some who remember it first time round) – big bath and body brand Molton Brown return to QVC UK on Monday 25th at 10pm with Alison Young!
Including a Samphire and Sea Moss wash and soak duo, a four-piece hand cream collection and a Pink Pepper wash duo. Did you ever get Molton Brown, e.g. at Xmas?!
Shhh! Andi Peters is back on the schedule – with Dale, who else?! – just before my Monday Back to You shows each week on four of the five Mondays in September! Will be a fun night of the week!
Alpha Male… no, not Will, but his latest Q-Cam interview – about this Tuesday’s (19th) Alpha H Today’s Special Value bargain – see more here. Don’t forget that our Sky channel numbers change on Tuesday too!
Ralph and Rachel Anniston: Lovely show with our Honora guest this week – my watch is in stock but only in the black option – find it here.Anyway, in case you missed him saying, he is no less than an Associate Producer on the latest Jennifer Aniston movie ‘Life of Crime’, due out in the UK on 3rd September. The film is about a kidnapping gone hilariously wrong. Check it out – his nephew directed it! Proud or what! Watch the trailer here.
Lee’s Hard Life
Loved this piccie he posted on his Lee QVC Facebook page this week, relaxing on a beach somewhere hot – you can go off people you know! Lol. Mr I.T. Hohbein will be back, bronzed and ready for more tech-talk in a week or so!
BLOOPER – here’s a little funny for you from last week on air!
Why I Buy – if you still want something unusual to watch after that, how about all the clips on this link? A couple of people have asked to see all the discussions about our favourite jewellery items – at the presenters’ girlie lunch at that hotel, remember? Click here! Some lovely memories conjured up here – and leave me a comment below and tell me – why do you buy your jewellery?
– Antthony Fashion Designs, back on Wednesday at 10pm including one of those – ahem! – one show only type bargains, join us!
– Lightening world map – Amazing! On this site, you can find where lightening is happening – anywhere in the world. Geeks unite! Love it. Go here to see it.
– ‘The Cube’ is back – Want to go and see it being recorded? I love these free ticket services, don’t you? Click here for more.
– Debate – Should drunk patients pay A&E fees? I had a lovely chiropractic pummelling this week at Balanced Chiropractic in Dorking High St, and Rik freed up a tight back where I had a road traffic accident (lorry bumped us) 27 years ago on the M1.
When I got treated at the hospital, they sent us a bill. Yes really. All RTA’s do, apparently, and the at-fault insurance company has to cover it. Now why don’t they do that with drunk patients!?! The Guardian asks the question in a survey – the results may surprise you…
WATCH – ‘The Bodyguard’ – London theatre, ’till end August.
I have to say, apart from one slightly wooden performance, this show got top marks from me! I’m easier pleased in the theatre than in film, admittedly. But still, to award anything 9.5 out of ten, in my book, that’s rare!
But that’s what I give ‘The Bodyguard’, which I saw this week at the Adelphi Theatre. The matinee was with Joelle Moses (‘The X-Factor’, ‘The Voice’), the alternate lead, playing the role of Rachel Marron. She and the cast were excellent – especially the youngster (one of four on rotation playing her son) and the smarmy showbiz manager Sy Spector played by a superb Dominic Taylor.
Alexandra Burke would be worth seeing too, I’m sure, on a night she’s in the lead, judging by the trailer below (although it doesn’t show any of her acting…!) Joelle’s acting was great.
The weak link was Frank (the Kevin Costner character who fell for Whitney Houston’s Rachel in the 1993 movie) as sadly he was merely fine, just a bit too hammy and not a lot of depth. Not up to the standards of the rest of the team, for me. Sorry Frank.
But the music is outstanding – some of my all time faves from Whitney from the 80s and 90s. And the staging was superb! OMG! One of the best productions I’ve ever seen. They finish in the West End soon, so catch it quickly!
We got one of those fab discount deals and all enjoyed it immensely! The pic at the top of this blog is us girls having fun up in London! Anyway, catch it on tour – go here to find out more.
– A lovely Discover Smart Homes prize giveaway to coincide with a new show Mat Trim and I will be bringing you on Saturday 30th August.
– Plus, a lovely Champneys break to brush up my updated version of ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims’ book – some amazing before and after pictures next week on here!
– And a visit to Pfizer with Emma from Imedeen and supper with my pal, ‘Mapp and Lucia’ composer, Kevin Sargent – aka Kevski… (ok, only aka to me!)
Have an outstanding week ahead!
