The Big Christmas Shopping Weekend

L'Occitane TSVCan you believe that Christmas is only just over four weeks away? I'm always a bit of a last minute lulu but this year I haven't even bought any cards yet – let alone written them. As soon as I finish this I'm off to the shops to buy some!

I have however already bought a couple of presents and I added to that by getting the Thorntons TSV – those smaller boxes will come in handy for pressies, the large one will stay at 'chez moi'!

Tonight's L'Occitane TSV will also be useful for dividing into smaller gifts. There are two options: the Floral and the Warm. If you're a rose lover, you will adore the Floral option as not only does it have the Rose 4 Reines bath and shower gel in the full size, it also has a limited edition full size Rose Petals hand cream. The rest of the collection is Pivoine Flora, Cherry Blossom and Marvellous Flowers.

The Warm option features Verbena shower gel, Ultra Rich hand and body wash & body lotion, Magical Leaves exfoliating shower gel, Vanilla Flowers limited edition hand cream and half a litre of the Delicious Almond shower gel, which smells like marzipan.

Talking of marzipan, that's something else for my shopping list today, the ingredients for my Christmas cake which I will need to make next week. Wonder if I will get away with not doing one for backstage this year?

We've got lots of themed gift idea shows on QVC over this coming weekend so hopefully we'll be able to give you some ideas too. My family always struggle when it comes to buying me presents so lately they have been getting me tickets. Last Christmas it was tickets to see Barry Manilow, which I went to in May, and for my birthday it was tickets to see Michael McIntyre, which Chris and I are going to on Thursday. I'm really looking forward to it as I think he's hilarious, Michael McIntyre that is, although Chris can be quite amusing too!

With two concerts, the Paralympics Closing Ceremony and all the football I go to watch I've been a busy bee, so the icing on the cake was Daniel managing to secure tickets to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.- mind you, I had to pay for them!

The supermarket is beckoning so I must dash but I hope you'll join me tonight at midnight, and don't miss the final Butler & Wilson show of the year – the Couture Show at 6pm Sunday with Simon and myself.

Enjoy your weekend whatever you are up to, love Julia xx

Hi Julia. – I’m pretty much the same as yourself – nothing organised for Christmas until the Thorntons and L’Occitane TSVs! I didn’t even manage to buy any presses from New York although I did find some lovely Christmas decorations for the house. Look out for a card which I will post to QVC for you bought from NY – I thought it was hilarious! I’m really jealous about your tickets for the Sports Personality of the Year – my vote would have to go to Mo Farrah, but there are so many other athletes who also deserve the award. It is pouring with rain at the moment and I am having a lazy Saturday afternoon listening to live commentary of Forest v Wolves and looking forward to doing some shopping with QVC later this evening.
    Enjoy the show on Thursday

    Hi Julia,
You are not alone, I have not got my Christmas Cards yet, need to get myself in gear. I am busy doing Accounts and VAT for our business at the moment, most boring job ever, hate it.
I got the Thorntons chocolates as well, great for Christmas presents, and as you say keep the large box. Have done just about all my Christmas shopping as usual on QVC. You get such great products at such great prices.
I missed Simon’s show on Sunday night, have no TV in the lounge at the moment as the wind did something to the aerial. Did not like to suggest watching it in the kitchen as my husband was watching the grand prix he had recorded on Sky.
I was playing around on my Samsung Android I got from QVC (fantastic sound and pictures on this, the videos are so clear as they are in HD, been watching some of Westlife’s concerts) and remembered about ten minutes before the end that I could watch QVC on that, so only saw the last ten minutes of you and Simon, loved the present you gave him.
Looking forward to the Elemis TSV at the weekend, must not miss that.
How is Oscar, he really did look adorable, and cheeky.
    Speak soon.
    Love Jean X

    Hi Julia
I saw you the other night sneaking into the Thorntons TSV…did you manage to get yours? Couldn’t make my mind up, but got them just before it went on to advanced orders, another item off my ‘to do’ list. I also managed to make my cake yesterday and Chris is going to help me marzipan and ice it…I bet we’ll get in a right pickle between us!
Watched your show last night with Simon and for once Chris was fixed to the TV screen (not literally. of course lol!). He was absolutely mesmerized at how quickly everything was selling out, even before going on screen. All I kept hearing, was ‘it’s gone and that one’s gone too!!’.
He was very struck by Simon’s designs and said the attention to detail was marvellous and he’s a very talented man! I think he especially liked the dancing couple and the crown broach and I’m sure it’s the first time he’s actually sat down and watched a Butler and Wilson show too!

    Hi Julia
You sound about as ready for Christmas as me! Although I have most of my presents sorted thanks to QVC again. I got the Thorntons TSV very early in the repeat shows. It did make me smile when Dale and the Thorntons lady (sorry, can’t recall her name) were having to explain which choccy was which to you. I can tell them all with my eyes closed ….. I LOVE Continentals! It will be a massive challenge for me not to keep them all for myself! I also got the L’Occitane TSV in floral ….. FOR PRESENTS!!!! Don’t be grassing me up to Keeley now!! Looking forward to the Elemis shows on Sunday. That will surely be MY presents sorted!

    Hi Lorraine
Sorry I missed your posts on Tuesday – it was my son’s birthday. I use Decleor Hydra Floral gel cream in the morning and Decleor Serum Hyratenseur in the evening. I hope you get the same great results that I’ve seen!
    Merry Christmas to you too

    Hi Anna
That top was from Ted Baker but I have had it for two years so it might not be available – although they do sometimes put older stock in the sale

    Hi Sue
Getting really excited about the Michael McIntyre show now – tell you about it in my blog tomorrow. Difficult choice for SPOTY – Mo Farrah, Bradley Wiggins, Andy Murray, Jess Ennis …. all serious contenders!
I think Forest are creeping up on us now? Two draws in the last two games and a big game against Brighton, our local rivals, on Saturday.
I’ll look out for your card – it hasn’t arrived yet

    Hi Jean
Oskar is still adorable and cheeky! Sophie brought him round on Tuesday for Daniel’s birthday …. he has taken a liking to a toy zebra I have and keeps pouncing on him, so cute. Poppy still hasn’t warmed to him though.
You missed a good show with Simon – we had to finish early cos everything sold out. I think Simon genuinely liked his present although I expect it will be given away like all the other quirky things I have bought him down the years!
Definitely don’t miss the Elemis TSV – great value, and the brand new exclusive Evening Blooms dry oil which smells heavenly! It’s on 4 easypays too …. every little helps ( to borrow Tesco’s phrase ). I’m with Keeley at 8pm and 11pm so I’m hoping there will still be some left for us to talk about

    Hi Annette
Glad you managed to get your Christmas cake done and hope the operation went well? I expect you will be feeling sore for a while but hopefully it will make things better in the long run.
Glad Chis ‘enjoyed’ the Butler and Wilson couture show – can’t believe we sold out early, something Simon said he never wanted to happen! Good luck with your recovery and hear from you ( via Chris ) soon

    Hi Carole
So glad you like your L’Occitane TSV – the rose petal hand cream is beautiful.
I agree with you about Claire’s hair …. it is so thick and at a great length at the moment that suits her. I will pass on your comment next time I see her

    Hi Marian
I used to know all the Thorntons Continental but they have added a few newer flavours like the lemon one. Love Alpini and Diplomat and Vanilla Truffle and Brandy Truffle …….. I could go on!
Sooooooooooo ….. unfaithful to Elemis egh???? I don’t blame you the L’Occitane was a great TSV for ‘sharing’!
I’m sure you already know what is in the Elemis TSV but watch out for something ‘special’ for hubbie too!
See you on telly on Sunday
