The beast from the east

3

I hope all is well as always.

I don’t suppose I could start this blog without talking about the unbelievable recent weather and the Beast from the East.

I hope you were all able to stay safe and warm. It was Ellie’s (one of our Bearded Collies) first experience of proper snow and she just loved it. Fortunately for her and Toby they were groomed last Wednesday just as the snow started to fall. The relevance of this was that their paws were clipped very short underneath and the snow didn’t form painful snowballs under or between their toes, instead it just gathered around their ankles (see pic). As a breed originally believed to originate from the highlands of Scotland, it surprises me that their coat attracts snow this way – perhaps highland snow is drier or wetter?

Back at The Q on Thursday we’re celebrating Inspirational Women’s Day with some of our own inspirational women and their brands, such as Amanda Holden, Kelly Hoppen, Ruth Langsford, Laura Gellar and Lisa Snowdon. I’m on with world renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen MBE at 2pm.

I’ll also be presenting the Today’s Special Value (TSV) from Amanda Holden’s BundleBerry range. Our TSV is a set of three nesting metal storage trunks – I’ll be with Amanda at 6pm in The Designer Home.

On Friday I’ll be moving from inspirational women to inspirational eating so I have a three hour food event enticingly called A Taste of Spring in which you can look forward to seeing many of our favourite food guests and their multi award-winning brands.

Returning brands include The Real Pie Company (well, it is British Pie Week after all) Churchill’s Confectionary, Gower Cottage Chocolate Brownies, Joe & Seph’s Gourmet Popcorn, The Original Cake Co, Laithwaites Wine, Halen Mon Sea Salt, Flower & White and many more. Despite my reputation, I will not be able to eat for the whole three hours and so I have enlisted the help of the ‘Table of Taste’ seen in The Andi Peters’ Food Fest shows, so the guests can savour each other’s delicacies.

Dogs will always head into the snow head first. Our dog loved to play, when it rained she wouldn’t move but still had to have a treat.

I am so much of a dog person, having had them all of my life, and can’t imagine a life without them. Your Beardies are just gorgeous, my Bertie (Yorkie) loves the snow too. Great wee video Dale.
