Thank you for all your support!

Alison Keenan, Claire Sutton and Debbie GreenwoodSuch is the excitement following last night BCC show that I can't sleep, and so I've downloaded all my photographs and wanted to share them with you while I say THANK YOU!!

Unbelievable support from you all to bring the amount raised to the highest total ever, and as the phone lines stayed open after 'normal' programming was resumed with Ali Young, I am certain we will have set the bar even higher!

What this money will bring to other women who, like me, have needed support is vital and your money is so much appreciated. I know I managed to say thank you to a number of 'Ali's Army', but obviously not all of you, for which I can only apologise, as you have ALL been inspirational to me…

Alison Keenan and Simon BiagiThank you too for the incredible response to the speech I made at the BCC Fashion Show last week… I am humbled by the things you say, and moved to tears to read all your comments. You are so kind, and I didn't expect in a million years to have such a response. It was an amazing evening, and I felt afterwards that I'd really turned a corner…

Being back at QVC Towers last night brought about a mix of emotions. Can it be a whole year since I was all dressed and ready, heading upstairs with Craig to 'man' the auction and donation lines? I remember Mum didn’t want me to mention her recent diagnosis and treatment, and I was worried I might cry with the emotion of it all…

Alison Keenan and partner ColinSo much has happened since then, but the buzz around the building last night was no different. Being in our presenter lounge rushing about getting changed, collecting notes and catching up with everyone was wonderful. I had my make-up expertly applied by Amanda Harrington, and as I sat in mine and Kathy's dressing room, the woman looking back at me in the mirror smiled, and reminded me of who I was, and who I am determined to be again…

I'm keeping everything crossed that I'll be back on the schedule in November, but in the meantime I am getting ready for Lucy's big day. A week tomorrow we'll heading down to Cornwall – can't wait. Thank you for the photos you've sent in so far – and please don't be shy!! I need plenty more to make my 'Rogues Gallery' and then it will be there on the wall in my dressing room to remind me how lucky I am to have you all in my life.

Have a great weekend, and thank you again.

Love Ali xx
P.S. Here's my speech for any of you that missed it…

    Hi Alison,
I did not realise until last night watching the bcc event on qvc that you, yourself have been diagnosed this year. I had been wondering where you were! I have just watched your speech and feel very humbled. I have been unemployed for a couple of months and it is getting me down, however hearing what you and other women (and men) go through regarding treatment and how cancer affects their loved ones I have nothing to complain about.
I already give a monthly donation to cancer research in memory of a much loved uncle. Last night I was able to get the Leighton Denny T shirt, as its always who is fastest wins.
All the very best for your daughters wedding and heres to many many more big family events. Take care of yourself, with every good wish to you Elaine oxo

I have been a QVC viewer for many years (I remember when you joined!!) and have been following your blog updates as you have been going through the last year. You have my greatest respect for how you have been dealing with such a frightening experience and I wish you all the luck in the world.
I felt an enormous need to email you having watched you BCC speech – what a beautiful speech; so personal, so from the heart and so dignified. You are an inspiration.
May you have the strength and support to carry you through the remainder of your treatment.

It was wonderful to see you back where you belong last night Ali. You looked stunning and it was so good to hear your voice again and to see you in person. You really are an inspiration and your courage, bravery and positivity are just awe inspiring. I am sure that you have had your moments, as you said, in the small hours of the morning, but you really have shown such courage and determination. I hope that your daughter had a lovely birthday and that the wedding in Cornwall will be fantastic. I am sure that you will look fabulous and be a very proud mum. Please give love and best wishes to Amica also and I am sure that you are a great support to her. I really do hope that you will be back on QVC and in our homes once again from November as we have all really missed you. Debbie and Kathy have been such fantastic friends and have kept us updated with news of you in addition to us being able to read your great blogs. Please post pics of you at the wedding. It was lovely to see you last night on the BCC hours and delighted to know the fantastic sum of money raised for such a vital cause. So delighted to see you given a lovely bouquet as the show was closing – well deserved. Well done to you, the kind suppliers, the hard working presenters and to QVC for a fabulous show and event. Didn’t Debbie look beautiful in her evening dress? You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Love Sue xx

    Hi Alison,
You looked really lovely at the Breast Cancer Care last night. It was lovely to see you back again and to hear your lovely voice again. I do wish you a speedy recovery and I hope that everything work’s out alright for you.
I have been a QVC Customer for twelve years now and I have loved all your shows, particularly the jewellery ones. I have recorded everyone you have been on. I hope you are able to get to Greece next year again. I was fortunate to go in May to Zakynthos and Kefalonia and I enjoyed every minute of it. I went swimming every day and it was like getting into a spa bath! I met some nice people too. So I will be going back next year! The water was a real turquoise colour and I went to Shipwreck Bay. I would say I had nearly ten weeks out there.
I thought the amount raised for Breast Cancer Charity was GREAT!
I alway try and purchase something every year. You are amazing Ali, keep going and I send my love and light to you.
    Love Debbie

What a fabulous night. Do you know in some ways it was as if you’ve never been away. You know I think you looked fab but honestly Ali you would never have known what you’ve been through-you were shining!Obviously helped by the support you’ve had from your Colin and of course your marvellous children. Also very pleased that you were wearing Clogau-not patriotic am I?? I think it was quite poignant what you said to Craig “who would have known this last year?” (words to that effect!)Well done everyone concerned.
I’ll send hugs from Lily (but not too close!-still not well I’m afraid) and loads of love from me
    Will keep you informed

    Dear Everyone,
Ali, WOOO HOOO!!!! It was so lovely to see you last night and yes, tissues were at the ready, I tell you! You looked stunning Ali, you really did and it was truly an amazing night 🙂
Aaarghhhh !!!! Booo hooo!!!! I am so sorry, I missed the ‘roll call’ for Ali’s Army! I am very chuffed though to hear my lovely friends mentioned and how wonderful you are to do that 🙂 Fab photos and I do like the one with you and Simon, you look incredible and I am so pleased that your hair is starting to grow back 🙂
I had a look online for a pair of ‘killer heels’ for you and there are wedding shops that will dye the shoes to match your outfit, which you probably knew! Some of the ‘heels’ (non wedding related) were very scary and looked more like foot armour, than the elegant ones I had in mind!
Una, I do hope that you are being very well looked after and will be home by the weekend with your lovely husband. I laughed at the ‘superman’ comment you made on Ali’s speech and I see no reason not to do a ‘superman’ at all! Sorry to say I have been behaving myself, so I hope you are making up for it! Forget oggling, I should just have asked you to send any gorgeous doctors to me instead, to pay a home visit!! I promise to send you lots of LilyoBrien chocolates and a nail file of course, if anyone even dares to think of arresting you!! x
Debz, I have been thinking of you my friend. I do understand how low the ‘low times’ of depression can be and I do hope you know that you are never, ever alone, not even for one minute and even when it feels like you are. You are always so kind and thoughtful to all your friends here and I am lucky and honoured to have you as my friend 🙂 Sending you a very big hug and a stroke for Ainzley, the extraordinary, who has very fine taste I must say! x
Marj, I do hope that this month is a little less rocky for you than last month. Let’s see what we can do with the power of sending positive thoughts to each other x Susan, hope you are doing ok x Gail, how I love your positivity and I hope that when the lower dose of your meds kick in, it will be of some relief to the RA x Magda, sending you my love and so thrilled to hear Debbie mention you last night, another brave and courageous lady x
Ali, a very big thank you to Colin for taking care of our very special girl, for us. Apart from hearing you look good in a pinny Colin, I believe you also make delicious bacon sandwiches!! What a man 🙂
Ali, take care and as always thank you for the making of Ali’s Army, which is definitely a highlight for me 🙂
    Holding your hand tightly,
    Lots of love, Alpa xxxx

    Hi Ali
How amazing were you last night? Great to see you back on our screen – it was as if you have never been away. Can’t wait until November and you’re back on a regular basis. I really appreciate you alluding to us – “Ali’s Army” is a term I’m sure we are all honoured to be referred to as – but we have done nothing to be thanked for.
I know you will be pleased when you can get back into your usual routine of work and home life; I had my work’s medical today and have been declared capable to do my job – although I was never in any doubt of my fitness, it was still a relief when the doctor said he would have to inform my employers that he had no hesitation in confirming my good health – as if that wasn’t what I wanted to hear! I can’t wait to get back to work.
At the doctor’s today, I read a poster which said a woman had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and she hadn’t found a lump! I never knew that – it’s a good job the information is out there as we ought not to assume that everyone knows all there is to know about any form of cancer, even the most basic of facts.
Can I wish you all the best again, Ali, for the wedding. I’m sure Lucy will be a beautiful bride with a most glamorous mother. Enjoy the day and perhaps you can post some photos!
    Take care and speak soon.

    Hi Ali
I have been reading your blog over the past few months and quietly admiring your positivity and strength of character. I’m not one for blogging but just felt I had to say how much I admire you. Your speech at the BCC fashion show was perfectly pitched, you painted a picture of what it is like to go through that tunnel – without losing your great sense of humour.
I am so pleased that you feel you have turned a corner, you looked beautiful last night and the “old Ali” is still very much there. Be encouraged, you will probably never know just how many people you have helped by sharing your story with such honesty. I pray that your recovery is a speedy one and that you have a wedding day packed full of joy and precious memories. I look forward to seeing you back on our screens soon.
    Love Susan, Co Down.

    Hi Ali,
What a fabulous night you hosted with Debs, Simon, Claire and Craig! And like you I thought I cannot believe that you and Craig were manning the phones last year too. Unbelievable that your Mum and you have both fought this awful disease in the last year. You have had way too many bad cards in your life so it’s damn about time that your tables turned!! And you’re right about your Lucy’s wedding and the massive 2 events that you’ve attended are a great start. Your speech was stunning…and were you. And I soo agree with Claire about you looking killer sexy in your gorgeous makeup and new hair coming through!! Not that many women look soo stunning with such short hair but we’ve always said how stunning your face was that you so suited your short funky hairdos…just like Kylie! You take care this week and enjoy the build up to lovely Lucy’s special day! You deserve it more than anyone.
    Love Susan x
PS Thanks for the mention and we’re always happy to be here for you.x

    Dear Helen,
Thank you so much for the message and thinking of me. I went to my appointment on Tuesday instead, just didn’t have the strength to do it last Thursday. It would have been lovely to have you come with me and keep me company. I took myself to a late luch after that, picked up some groceries and came home. I have stayed very close to home for a while and it did feel strange to be out. I was just relieved to get back home in one piece and without anything happening!
I don’t think that M.E. is treated seriously here and it is a horrible disease. Although research into the biomedical cause has been almost non-existent here due to funding, it is being done in other countries, which is a good thing.
I have been a member of a M.E. self help group for about 18 months, called Network Mesh and based in West London (a member in name only so far!) One of the things they do is send out a magazine every season which is handy to keep up to date with what’s going on. I think the latest magazine has been put onto the website. If it helps, it’s no trouble at all to copy the magazines that I have and to send them to you. You are my friend and I am more than happy to do it 🙂
Apart from that, I have been doing my own research and have to chase up a referral for osteopathy (there is evidence to support it may be beneficial in managing M.E.) I have had to be very insistent with my doctor!
I hope that Olivia enjoyed her harvest festival, it sounds lovely. Helen, I will share something that a friend said to me and that is, you are doing the best you can, no one can do more than that – be kind to yourself.
Take care and I am always here for you,
    Lots of love, Alpa xxxx

Hello Alison, It wonderful to see you last night, just like old times and hopefully normal service will soon to be restored. You looked lovely and all the enthusiasm and intonation came back into your voice when the jewellery was placed in front of you. It was great to hear you say; “This isn’t work” and I knew then how much we have missed you. I also love the photo of you taken with Simon, the girl who smiled back at you from the mirror never went away and she showed her true and beautiful self this year. The loss of so many aspects of a woman’s femininity must be a huge part of the ordeal of this awful disease and I trust that time returns all of them. I don’t know if you still read an old blog once you’ve posted a new one but I wrote earlier this week about your photo collection, if you received the one’s I sent from Bex’s wedding please use one of those, if not I’ll bombard you with more. Only a week and a bit until THE BIG DAY, enjoy MOTB! Love from Jo x

Hello Alison, I have been reading your blog this year and have been amazed at how cheery your comments have been throughout your ordeal. I have also watched your speech at the Breast Cancer Care event,(along with several hankies) and just wanted to let you know how dearly you are thought of.
My sister has special needs and tends to talk about TV personalities, famous people etc by using their first name! It’s quite hard to get used to a conversation when she suddenly drops the name of Kate into a normal conversation and she actually means the Duchess of Cambridge! However the first time she said, “I wonder how Ali is doing?”, I knew instantly who she meant as you have been so much in our thoughts. I hope this explains how much we and others think of you and how your vivacity and personality comes through when we have watched you on the television. And it’s heartfelt thoughts we send to you on your recovery and the very best of wishes to your family for the upcoming wedding. Just to know that there is someone in the world like yourself with your lovely stories and quick quips (easy for me to say), makes us humbled and grateful. Get well soon Ali, you are much loved!

Dearest Ali, I was thrilled to watch you on BCC show – what a stunner! Watching your speech last week was immensely touching. Like everyone else, I was moved to tears by your humility, gratitude and sincerity. You have been through the wringer, but emerged even more beautiful, dignified and loving. We all have battles in our lives and mine are different to yours, but I could never have gone through all you have experienced this past year so bravely, giving so much support back to others who have been or are affected by breast cancer. I think your message that we do not need to feel so alone in our struggles applies to anyone suffering any form of disease who finds themselves up in the middle of the night, worrying, praying, or crying. Thank you for encouraging those individuals to get online to reach out and seek comfort, information and inspiration. Brava Girl!!! I deeply wish you a continued recovery and a healthy, happy future! Enjoy the wedding (take plenty of hankies!) and let us know that you will return on air from time to time in the near future? Onwards and upwards sweetheart! Much love and respect, Jill in Peterborough x x x
P.S. I asked Debbie Flint to give you a hug from me, so you let me know if she did, alright?! 🙂

Hi Ali – I’ve been away on holiday so missed the B. Cancer Care Event. I had no idea that you had been diagnosed & had gone through all the treatment. I do know a little of what its been like as a very Close Friend of mine has just done exactly the same – she had a mastectomy over 22 years ago and had been clear, but then this year had to do it all again with the other breast. She is now looking forward to the final part, her reconstruction surgery, and also to the Wedding of her only daughter next Spring. I do so wish you well, and hope its all over and done with soon, so that you can get on with your life. If you are only half as brave as my Dear Friend, you will be fine. All my Very Best Wishes, dear girl. Linda x

Alison, I watched the BCC event on QVC this year as I have always done and managed to get myself a few of the items on air. I must say it was a delight to see you on our screens again. After everything you have been through, you looked so happy and radiant. Your speech was so heartfelt, touching and inspirational and I also shed a tear. You are so brave and always seem so positive. I sincerely hope that you enjoy your daughter’s wedding and look forward to your return to our screens. You brighten up so many lives with your lovely smile. Best wishes to you and all your family, Karen xx

    Dear Alison,
What a difficult year this has been for you and how brave you are. We are a family that has had its share of breast cancer and I know how much it takes. It is such a devastating illness for a woman, as it steals so much of what makes us who we are during its reign. It comes from nowhere often and undermines all that you thought you knew. Your speech was so strong. You held yourself together with such dignity. I’m sure that all women, myself included felt so proud of and for you. You seem surrounded by a very devoted family Alison and you know how much of a gift that is I am sure. Enjoy your wedding, and keep getting well. God bless.

    Hi Ali(you lovely ladyx)
I do hope you managed to read the comments left on your last blog in the last week as there are some lovely messages from your pink soldiers(Ali’s Army) and when i say that i mean everybody who left a comment wether it be once or a million times as i know you appreciate every word(thats what makes you so specialxx)Well,i take a breath, wasnt the QVC BCC night absolutely brilliant and can you believe over £500,000 plus raised – this year more than any other year this one was extra special because of a certain lovely lady who we all love and respect(can you guess who?) but i must say(and i know you agree) that every year is special and so essential to such a brilliant charity. In a more humerous vain,i bet you were happy,at the end of the night to get your high heels, eyelashes, wig and tv makeup off and to have a lovely hot cuppaxx. You mention that you are aiming for November re coming back on the QVC schedule – that is such good news but make sure your ready, please dont rushx – but i must say seeing you the other night it felt as if you hadn’t been away, you looked(but i bet didnt feelx)like our Ali as if you had never been away – i’m so looking forward to joining you on your first hour(and many more after) back and buying something from it just to remember the occasion(i know it sounds daft but thats just mex).I watched a Channel 5 documentary last night(you may have caught it) about another inspirational lady(Hayley, who has just celebrated her 13th Birthday) she suffer from a syndrome called Progeria which means that her body is ageing faster than normal meaning she is basically an old lady in her 70/80’s even though she is 13!! – she is brilliant,so mattter of fact and to the point – such an inspirationx Her life expectancy is anything from 13-18 and she very calmly told us that during her documentary – she has written a book which is in the bookshops now. Some people thrive through adversity and you and Hayley certainly prove that – you are both very special human beingsx I bet you and the family are busy getting ready for Lucy’s big day? – if you feel its appropriate – i’m sure we would all love to see a piccie of Lucy and yourself on the day because this was the day we were all aiming for just after your diagnosis and we’ve made it!! – now lets go for the telegram(i’m sure its a text these days) from the Queen as our next target eh!! I send my love and respect to the rest of Ali’s pink soldiers(inc Ainsleyx) and hope your all feeling as well as ablex Look after yourself Ali – Speak to you soon Love and respectxx Linda,Glasgowxx

Your recent journey has been a tough one and typical of you, you managed it with humour, hiding well the the true awfulness of it all. You have been such an inspiration to us all and shown such a brave face to everything thrown your way. You looked ravishing as always and have done more good by involving us all on your perilous cancer journey than any drugs could ever hope to achieve. Thank you so much for allowing us to travel with you and I can’t wait to see you back at work again! Enjoy your daughter’s wedding and post photos as soon as you can. Loads of love Maria XXX

Ali, i dont know where to begin. My husband recorded the BCC show for me, and I watched in the wee small hurs when i couldnt sleep. I think I cried from start to finish.
What an absolutely amazing achievement, to raise over half a million pounds in such a short time.
You all looked so glamorous, you and debbie were stunning in your evening dresses and didnt simon and Craig look so smart too. Its hard to imagine what yu have been through, and are still going through, you look so well. Please take a bit of rest time over the next few days though. Its been a busy couple of weeks for you, and you need to make sure you are tip top for next weekend. Sound like your mum, sorry, hehehe!!
Was LOVELY that you mentioned our wee army of friends, all by name, especially Ainzley. I have to say though, my wee Loops did have a strop cos he wasnt mentioned LOL!!!!! Ainzley, you are a
    legend in your own misbehavingtime!!!
Just watching debbie with Maryanne, and she just slapped the guest and told her to “get your hands off the chocolate” OMG, she is hilarious.
Was nice to see Claudia too, she is looking glam as ever. The team back together again. was strange not to see Julia there, shes ALWAYS at the BCC event. The entire QVC gang work so hard to put these events together, and its appreciated by so many people. Many thanks to everyone for the effort.
I think I have to go and break up an “argument” between loops and 2 magpies. You have no idea how loud they are!!!!!!!
Have a lovely weekend Ali. My love to you and the family. Em…….did we ever see the photo of Colin in his pinny?!!!!!!!!

    Hi Ali,
I think my last email disappeared somewhere!!
I won’t rest until I write and say what a great fundraising night that was! It was so lovely to see you looking so well and happy amongst your friends. Thanks for mentioning all us bloggers. I love the photo of you and Simon – you look just as lovely without the wig, but it’s great that your hair is now starting to grow back!
After trying to purchase several items without success – hooray! I did manage to purchase a lovely mother-of-pearl heart pendant at the end of the night before it sold out.
It was lovely to see Claudia, and I hope she has great success with her jewellery designing. I thought of Amica on the night too, and hope she will soon be fit and well and back to good health.
The song that the sweet and gorgeous Joe sang at the end of the night certainly ‘struck a cord’ with me.
Hope you are resting a little, as the last two weeks have been so hectic for you. Have a great time at the wedding on the 22nd in Cornwall. I love Cornwall and visited St.Ives twice this year!
(Also, thanks for giving an honest and ‘down-to-earth’ account of what you have been through at the BCC Event – I certainly learnt a lot and I’m sure so many other women did too. I didn’t know that certain types of cancer don’t show up under various hospital tests, making it even more important that we check ourselves regularly).
Hope you received my photo etc.

PS – Do remember not to do too much even if you feel up to it. The tiredness can suddenly sneak up and smack you when you are least expecting it. I fell asleep in the bath tonight after not doing a lot today. Fortunately my bath isn’t full size so there was no chance of me drowning!! I was only woken by my other half shouting to see if I’d fallen down the plug hole!!

Am on holiday in Spain and just seen the fantastic speech you made last week.
I have been following your progress with your treatment, and what a tough time you have had. Having finished my personal little struggle with breast cancer last year I have some idea of what you have been through. I am also on tomoxifen for the next 5 years but feel lucky that there is all this wonderful treatment available now. You are one very brave lady and give everyone out there a lot of hope. Being diagnosed with breast cancer is like a big punch in the stomach and it is such a help when there is so much support – it takes away some of the panic.
Looking forward to seeing you back on QVC.

Hi Alison,,,what a week! I watched your speech at the BCC Charity fashion show on the web and was in tears before you had looked beautiful, composed and very very proud. What courage you showed and gave a speech truly from the heart and you looked happy and ready for anything. Then, on |Wednesday, I watched 3 hours of QVC on my computer in my bedroom ordering far too many items on the Breast Cancer Marathon ( all in the best interests of the charity you understand)and in tears again at the courage, determination and pride of all the lovely ladies and gentlemen who appeared on the show. Truly inspirational people who made my horrendous day at work disappear into a mere insignificant blur,,,what did I have to moan about?
The photo of you without your wig is stunning, I know your hair is short but you look but I have always liked you with short hair, I hope we see more of it soon.
Had a minor landmark of my own this week…3 stone now off and half way to my goal so I am a bit chuffed with myself to be honest. We have my daughters Kent under 11 cricket presentation this weekend and I feel good in what I am wearing, a feeling I have not had for years!!

When your voice started to get emotional I wanted to jump through the computer screen and hug you— but you summoned up the strength and determination to carry on and that is what has kept you going these hard months—and will make you well and keep you well-to quote your daughter-I think-“for ever”.God bless you-lovely lady-to hear your voice again was pure joy(ever thought about doing those talking books?)Please rest now and gain strength for your next emotionally charged day-that wedding on the 22nd.Keep well and thanks for always replying and making people aware of how brave all those people with cancer must be to go through so many awful reactions-both physical, mental and emotional.Enjoy your big day with your ‘baby’,and live, live, live. I am sending white light, rainbows and lots and lots of love to each and every one of you being treated for cancer as I know that you are all fighting your hardest to survive. Hi Ali..I have already posted a blog but I am not sure where it’s gone…several have been lost like those of other Ali’s Army bloggers so I really hope this gets to you but apologies if its a repeat!!
i watched QVC Breast Cancer Care show in the peacefull calm of the bedroom….no need for my husband to see the amount of stuff I ordered BUT as I keep telling myself, its all in a aid of ab essential and fantastic cause. You looked radiant, elegant and it was like you have never been away, can’t wait for you to be back. I also watched your speech on the previous Wednesday at the fashion show with lots of tissues that were soon put to good use! You were confident, brave and very sincere and honest about the battle you have had and how you are winning the war. A true inspiration as to were the stories from the horrendous day at work pailed into insignificant embarressment as I really have nothing to complain about. I was moved to tears.
I am thinking of you this week with the excitement leading up to Lucy’s wedding on Saturday..may the sun shine and I am sure as the tears will ineviatably flow, magical memories will be made and it will a great family celebration in more ways than one. On a ‘personal triumph’ note, I know I have mentioned my battle with weight but I am pleased to announce that I have now lost 3 stone and am half way to my goal…Have a fantastic day on Saturday Ali, lots of love Mary XXX

Dear Ali, firstly thank you for taking the time to reply to my first post – and at such a busy time too, it truly made my day.
My earlier post hasn’t appeared, so I’m back again to send you my love and admiration for what must have been a wonderful and yet tough BCC evening for you, you carried it off so well!
And yes, I was there on BCC night too, along with so many others. I now have my 3 (count ’em!)BCC t-shirts for my ‘walking in the park’ mornings and my aero-pilates, they’re lovely and I’m proud to wear them.
I hope you all have a wonderful time at the wedding this weekend and I look forward to seeing the photos.
I also wanted to send my love to all of Ali’s Army – those who post messages and those who read them – this is such a supportive blog to read, even if I do end up with a tear in my eye sometimes, those menopausal dwarfs have a lot to answer for!
Take care Ali, Love Ann xxx

How wonderful to see you back on the QVC screen you look stunning. What a fabulous BCC event. Breasr cancer is such a terrible disease that can touch anyone it isnt ageist or sexiest or care what creed or colour you are. Two of my family have been affected by it. Everything should be done to fight this awful disease. The event was even more poignant this year as it has touched two favourite faces on QVC both you and Amica. My thought and best wishes are with you both as you continue to fight as it is with all the fighters and survivors.

My Dear Ali,you did it, you got through all your treatment and now you will be the beautiful mother of the bride.I wish Lucy and Richard every happiness and I hope the sun shines on Saturday. I know you said you and Colin might stay in Cornwall after the wedding,so relax and enjoy it,it’s a beautiful part of the country.I noticed you said your boys have dealt with your breast cancer in their own way. My son started uni about 2 weeks before my treatment started and the night before he started I lost all my hair. I remember wearing my scarf for the first time and sobbing when me and my husband got home. My son did come home at weekends to see me, but he never wanted to see me bald, so whenever he was home I had to wear my scarf, as I think the reality of it all was too much for him. But you certainly find out who your friends are.A friend I had known for 20 years wanted nothing to do with me after I was diagnosed which was very upsetting, but I have 2 very good friends who have stuck by me and for that I am very grateful.Take very good care Ali you will be tired for quite some time, so don’t do too much too soon. As I always say, be kind to yourself and my hand will always be there for you to hold. Speak soon lovely lady love Janetxx

Hi Alison, I have been wondering where you had got to for quite a while now and kept meaning to ring QVC to ask after you. I rang them this evening to ask where you had dissappeared to because you are one of my favourite presenters. I was advised to check on the presenters blog as they were unable to say where you had got to and when you were coming back. I am so shocked and sorry to learn of your illness. However, i am really glad you have come through your treatment and will be returning back on QVC. I am sending you my best wishes and love, and i hope to see you really soon. Julia xxx

This is my reality… the rest of it is now firmly behind me… soooo much to look forward to, take care, and do keep in touch, love Ali x

Sue thank you for mentioning all the other people who worked so hard to make the evening a success, and can I also say that behind the scenes, a great many departments raise money with cake sales etc., so it really is a team effort. Vernoica, one of our back stage experts dressed in a pink tuttu for an entire 10 hour shift and raised £1,200!!!! You’re right about Kathy and Debbie. They like so many of my other friends at QVC have gone the extra mile and kept me strong and determined… far too much to look forward to to give up now 🙂 I will of course pass on your best wishes to Amica, and it was lovely to hear from you, take care, love Ali xx

    Dear Ali
Results day today! I am very pleased to report that prognosis is good as I have been told that my lymph nodes are clear!! I was a little panicked when my surgeon told me that he had found another small tumor and some pre-cancerous cells during my operation. At that point I thought he was going to suggest a masectomy but he said that although it was more than anticipated everything which had been removed was very small so has recommended just radiotherapy which will start in approx 7 weeks therefore all treatment should be complete by Christmas. I have really appreciated the time you have taken to correspond with me, you are beautiful lady, inside and out and I wish you much luck and success for the future. I very much look forward to seeing you back on QVC, hopefully in the near future.

Dear Ali, hope you have a fab time and i send all my very best wishes to Lucy, I bet she will look just as beautiful as her mum!!!! Oh my, the weather has turned cold here in Wales, but my daughter seems to have developed an allergy to coats. I was told they just don’t wear them in juniors mum, mmm, we’ll see about that. I think, that she thinks, she’s about 18 not 8, she’s lovely though and I still go into her bedroom every night before I go to bed and just stand there and look at her sleeping, love her to bits.
I hope that you got our picture for the ‘gallery’?
Alpa, how are you feeling, any better. I did have a read of the website that you suggested, very interesting, thank you. I’m still ‘crawling’ along and at the moment I wish I had a chef, really gone off cooking and I used to spend a lot of my time in the kitchen but have to rustle up a meal every night to feed my two starvers!!
Magda, so lovely to hear from you and you to Una, how are u doing and developments since being in hospital?
Debz, how are you my lovely? Any news from you?
Well, I have to get the energy to go shopping now, my fridge looks rather sorry for itself and the last banana and apple in the fruit dish look rather sad, and I have to buy a check shirt for madam as the school is dressing up as cowboys tomorrow, oh my what next?
Ali, have a ball and love and hugs to all of my chums.

Yesterday found me on my bicycle trying to buy special ribbon!!! 🙂 I have however read every one your lovely comments and I will take your good wishes, love and prayers with me to Cornwall for Lucy and Richard’s wedding. I will also take my camera, and PROMISE to have as many photos as I can post, on the site for you to share with me on my return. This day has been a long time coming, but it was always there, just like the light at the end of the tunnel… I’ll make the time to write to you, which is always such a pleasure. I have just watched the video of your touching but inspirational speech and I must admit that I shed a few tears. Like you I was diagnosed with Cancer in January this year, a form of Ovarian Cancer which led to a hysterectomy and six cycles of chemotherapy. I am now thankfully in remission and know just how lucky I am to still be here. The battle was long and hard and at times that light at the end of the tunnel seemed to be so far away, but here we are hopefully over the worst and slowly finding our way back to normality. You are a very brave lady and have been through so much. I did not have radiotherapy and cannot imagine what it must have been like to face this after your chemo, you have shown great courage and determination and I admire you so much.
Your blogs have helped me get to through a very difficult time Alison, here was someone else who knew what it was like to go through chemo and your positive attitude cheered me on. You looked so beautiful in your lovely dress and I look forward to you returning to our tv screens, you have been missed! Take it easy my lovely and god bless.

    Hi there Ali
Well, I bet you thought that Lucy’s wedding day would never come. I bet a tiny part of you was wondering if you’d make it. Well, you did my lovely and your life can now hopefully begin to get itself back on track. I am so looking forward to seeing the photo’s. I bet you all looked wonderful.
Time to look to the future now Ali and I hope with all my heart that your future will be a happy one. I know that there are still a few hills to climb but we will be there for you willing you on, but for now, just enjoy the fact that there are no more treatments and throw yourself into getting ready for Christmas!
Hi there Alpa, Helen, Gail, Marg and all the other lovelies. I hope you are all well and Una, I hope you are (miss)behaving yourself! I have been struggling a bit for the last few days but my Slanket arrived this morning and that, for some reason, has cheered me up no end! Ainzley is eyeing it up for future reference and is now asleep in the box it came in! Bless him, he looks so peaceful.
Julie, that’s wonderful news that your treatment will be over by Christmas. That’s the best present you could have I bet. Take care of yourself lovely lady.
    Lots of love and licks
    Debz & Ainzley (=^-^=)XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
p.s. Ali, I like the sound of your thigh high boots!!

    Dearest Ali
Sorry I missed you on the BCC show. The pic of you with Signor Biagi (and Cousin It from The Addams Family on the stand there) looks terrific. I hope you’re tempted to keep the short ‘do for a while, as I think it really suits you. My Mum has the same cut (but by choice rather than circustances) and it looks good on her. And I double-dar you to wear your newe boots on-air when you’re back full-time.
Go on – you KNOW you want to!
All the best, and lots of Love

Ali, and all the lovely ladies of Ali’s Army, I was given this little poem a long time ago and I feel I would like to share it with you all,it says how I feel much better than I can,
If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days your feeling blue
If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own
    A place to find serenity
    A place to be alone.
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea
    But all these things
    I’m finding impossible for me.
    I CANNOT build a mountain
    Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best
    A friend thats always there
    Loving thoughts to all,

Lisa thank you so much for your love and prayers. The wedding was every bit as perfect as I had hoped it would be and the last nine months melted away a I watched Lucy and Richard together. You’re right though, I do feel pretty shattered now having started the week with Hospital visits and Sam’s appointment. all good though, which I hope is the case with you too. Love Ali xx

I think the only way forward is to put the last nine months behind me and pray! Whatever will be will be, but I feel a great deal better than I have done for a long while. Love to you, Ali x

Lovely to know you enjoy reading the blogs and yes I will be back mid November come hell or high water 🙂 Love Ali xx

Dear Linda I am so sorry to hear that your friend has to go through all of this again. I am ‘lucky’ to be having my second breast removed next Spring as my oncologist felt it was too much of a risk as the cancer was very difficult to detect. I am sure your friend will be fine, and will – as I have done – use her daughter’s wedding as something to fight for and head towards. With your love and support I’m sure she can do this. Love to you both, Ali xx

Incredible kindness and generosity 🙂 I have seen the documentary about Hayley and I agree she is an amazing soul. As I have often mentioned… you don’t have to look too far to see someone who is far worse off than you are, and it is a great leveller. I did read and reply to all the lovely comments on the previous blog and you’re right, they were inspiring. I feel very humbled and grateful to have you all in my life, love ali xx

My dear Una, so glad that you got to watch our special evening – even if after the event itself, and I have to agree with you 100% – Craig, Debbie, Simon and Claire were awesome, and no doubt their work and enthusiasm helped raise the target to the heady heights it reached! I’m so glad you got your mention, and please do give Loops an extra treat for me – I am SO sorry I forgot to mention him!! Julia was in Spain this year while the event took place, but I know that QVC do try and swap the presenters around each year so that all of us have an opportunity to be part of such an awesome event 🙂 I very much hope that Loops and the magpies parted friends, and that you’ve had a good weekend. The wedding was FAB! However, I do feel shattered still having been on various hospital appointments and with Sam… Still, I’m planning to rest until my return the week after next.

My dear Cheryl, I am so glad that you enjoyed the BCC night, and thank you for your support. It was a phenomenal amount of money that was raised and it will all go towards helping other women who sadly find themselves in the same position as me. All that said, I am feeling better and stronger every day – still a tad tired! – and am looking forward very much to returning to work on a regular basis. Love to you from me and I’m certain Amica too 🙂 xxx

Janet thank you for your continued support and understanding. I know how hard it must have been for you with your son, especially as he was away from you for the first time and you had your treatment to contend with. I too have tended to hide my baldness from the boys but now that my hair has started to grow back they think it’s cool 🙂 Colin and I couldn’t stay in Cornwall as Sam’s case for the accident was to be heard on Monday, and then more hospital appointments yesterday, but we made a day of the return journey with Ros and Chris and the sun shone for us then 🙂 The wedding was wonderful and everything went according to plan. I hope you enjoy the photos that should be posted later today. With love to you, Ali xx

Dear Julia, that’s very kind of you to be concerned, but as you will have seen, I am now hopefully over the worst of it all. I do hope you’ll start reading the blog having now discovered it, as it’s a really lovely way to keep in touch with so many women who have so much in common 🙂 Love Ali xx

Jackie, thank you so much for taking the time to write to me. I am glad that you enjoyed the speech, and it was an honour to be there on the night and to meet so many other people who have fought this wretched disease. It would have been so much harder for me though without the constant support I’ve been lucky enough to have. Thank you for adding yours, love Ali xx

Hello again Tina, and thanks for posting 🙂 Sam was back with the consultant yesterday as there has been more bone growth, but we’re hoping – as always – that an operation will help with that and make walking more comfortable again. He’s very stoic though, and I’m very proud of him. I will certainly pass on your white light and rainbows to Amica whom I hope to talk to today, so thank you from us both, love Ali xx

Helen I did get the lovely photograph of you and Olivia – like mother like daugher, both beautiful 🙂 It was bloomin’ chilly in Cornwall too on Saturday afternoon which was a shame considering the morning was sunny, but to be honest the weather didn’t matter a jot because the day was perfect in every sense. It’s funny about the coat thing with your girlie… I do remember Jack from about 14 refusing to wear a coat and as the bus stop to school was just outside on the village green I used to get him to wait until the last minute so he didn’t stand in the cold… crazy eh?! I hope you enjoy the wedding photographs and that you will start to feel stronger very soon… ever thought about having your shopping delivered to you rather than having to stagger around? I know that a checked shirt may not be on the cards, but it could save your energy for food shopping! Love Ali x x

Alpa, I too am really sorry you missed your mention, but there’ll be plenty more opportunity to talk about you all on air once I’m back on the schedule! I think I’ve measured my legs wrongly as the boots aren’t thigh length, they’re over the knee! Similar to a pair the delectable Debbie Greenwood owns, and I was desperate to borrow! We have Lucy’s after wedding party tomorrow and so I’m going to wear them to that – may not be able to do too much dancing though – VERY high heels! You should go for it and get yourself a pair – I dare you 🙂 The wedding was everything I could have wished for, and I really hope you enjoy the photos, love Ali xx

Sue, I hope you had a wonderful time away, and came back refreshed. Yes the BCC evening was a fabulous night, and thanks to my wig and some expert make up I felt very glamorous! Mind you my eyelashes and brows are growing really well now, so I am hoping that by the time I get back on air, I may be able to dispense with the false eyelashes altogether – I find them a nightmare to put on! It’s been a very busy start to this week with appointments for Sam and me still not having a car, but all is sorted now so I intend to take it easy before I am back on the schedule! Love to you, Ali xx

Hello Anne, I hope you enjoyed your time with your Mum on your recent visit, and thank you for supporting us all on the Breast Cancer Care night. It did mean a great deal to be there, and hard to believe a whole year had passed since I was where Claire was – it felt as though I’d not really been away. I’m feeling a little better each day and will look forward to ‘seeing’ you in November, love Ali xx

Hi Susan, you were right, not a dry eye in the house – or barn as it was!! 🙂 The wedding was everything we had all hoped it would be, and such a relaxed happy atmosphere too. I’m posting my blog and photos later today so I hope that you enjoy them. It didn’t rain but was jolly chilly so only a few photographs taken outside, but as your mum would have said, it really didn’t matter 🙂 I hope all is well with you, and thanks for writing, love Ali x

Such a wonderful time had by all, and both Richard and Lucy so happy. It is lovely that through this blog we’ve all been able to share a little of our lives, and I will always be grateful to have had you alongside me through the darker months this year… It’s time to move forwards now though and that’s what I intend to do, but thank you as always for your continued love and support, Ali xx

Hello Alison, simply had to write on your blog and send my best wishes to you and your family during your ongoing recovery. Considering QVC is on our tv screen almost daily I was totally unaware of the battle you have been facing since January. I suddenly thought recently that I had not seen you on our screens, and decided to look on the presenters blog and discovered your news. Having watched my younger sister face this disease and come out the other side with plenty of battle scars ie permenant lymphodema and a reconstruction that had to be reversed, she is well and happy and know works as a weight watchers leader. She feels that if she had not of lost weight with WW she would have not noticed a lump. After all her battles she found herself in a position to be able to try and become a leader for WW after getting to goal. She is now an inspirational leader championing other aspects of healthcare of losing weight. I watched your speech for breast cancer care on youtube and you were brilliant and inspiring. I am sure with the continuing love and support of your friends and family you will continue to get through this battle and we will once again see you gracing our screens again. Once again best wishes Gail.
PS Congratulations on your daughters wedding you both looked wonderful and I am glad all went well. In the last two months I have seen the last two of my four sons get married within 7 weeks of each other, the former was local but the latter in the states as my son met beautiful american girl. My other two boys married within 6 weeks of each other two years ago. So I am all weddinged out now. lol

    Hi Ali,
I have been in the US for several months so only just found out your news, to say I am shocked is an understatement, I watched your video and am so proud of how you handled your illness, I know I wouldnt be that strong. I have never had a mamogramme even though I am 52, but believe it or not an invitation fell on my doormat only 2 hours ago. So after watching your film I have decided that this time I will go. wishing you all the best in the future and hope your back soon.

    hi ali
you look amazing for someone who has been thro so much, well yukky stuff. i had a cancer scare some 3 plus years ago – bowel tumour – its amazing where you do get the strength from to get thro the yukky stuff in life. i was very very very lucky in that my tumour was benign and so were all the limph nodes around it. i count myself as blessed and that my gran was watching over me in the op theatre – i am sure your angels must be watching over you too and hope they continue to do so. look foward to seeing you back at qvc soon – chatting and giggling on our screens again.
i wish as a country we could spend decent money on real devoted cancer research – this dreadful disease is like a bolt of lightning into so many peoples lives! take care ali!
love and hugs from christine in tyneside
and love and licks (and belly scratches!) from my little rescue dog patch (he’s having a second chance at life and enjoying his new life with me and my hubby – enjoy every minute of what you will no doubt value as your second chance at life – live it to the full hun!!!!!) x x

    Dear Gail
thank you so much for writing, and I am very glad to hear that your sister has done so well with her recovery and has made a career for herself, where she will no doubt inspire others. You are so right that one must never underestimate the importance of self-checking and I am so relieved that your sister had lost the weight and was therefore able to find the lump. She has my total empathy re the lymphoedema…. I have to say I am really struggling, and very much hope it’s not going to be difficult when I go back to work next week..I am dilligent with the massage and wear the sleeves every day, but it still is far larger than my left arm and hand, still it could be worse, as we all know. How wonderful for you to have four married sons – rather close though the weddings were! Did you wear different outfits each time?! 🙂 Thank you for writing, and please do keep in touch, Love Ali xx

    Hi Alison
To say you are an inspiration to us all. I lost my mum to breast cancer and miss her every day. As a result I became involved with a group of ladies called ‘By Invitation Only’ meeting once a year on the first Saturday in March. This year saw our 10th Anniversary, in which time we have raised over £110,000 for cancer charities, predominantly CRUK. In 2012 I will be starting my own branch of the group, in Crawley and am wanting to choose Breast Cancer Care as my chosen charity and it would mean a lot if you were able to attend either on your pown or with a few of the girls from QVC as it is a ladies only lunch. Please come back to me and let me know, or give me an alternative address to contact you on.
Take care and with much love.
    Karen xx

Hi Alison. i’ve been watching QVC since about April, and in recent months it’s become apparent to me, a little , what your situation must be. How strong , glamorous and inspiring you are, and i love your speaking voice
Hi also to Alpa if she happens to read this, the reason being i too suffer that intensely debilitating but often misunderstood condition that you do. fortunately it fluctuates quite a lot, but i have some very difficult circumstances in my life , and know how it feels to be isolated. However i am slowly battling to change my life, move, and reinvent my work to include freelance work from home. hope you’re both doing well take care and love, Jules xx
