Thank goodness for cycle helmets!

Craig and his bike Hiya, hope you're all keeping well.

A couple of weeks ago I had an accident; I went round the corner really fast on my bike, skidded and came down quite hard on the concrete. Luckily I was wearing my cycling helmet but I did end up going to hospital (everyone at QVC told me I had to go even though I felt fine!), and it turned out that everything was OK.

I was definitely in shock after the fall though, and I went through every emotion from laughing to crying, happy to sad, all in about 10 minutes!

Anyway, I'm fine now and if you've seen me on air you'll know I'm back to my normal bouncy self! But I really wanted to say that if you or a loved one does cycle, please, PLEASE wear a helmet. If I hadn't had mine on the accident would've been a lot worse. I now see it as my business to tell every cyclist I see at traffic lights my story too!

If you read my blog earlier in the year you'll know that cycling more often is a goal of mine for 2009 – and yes, I'm still wearing my natty fluorescent gear, so I'm certainly seen by everyone!

Have a great week, and I'll be in touch soon,
Craig. x.

I think it depends where you are as well. I live in Richmond upon Thames and my cycle route to work is along the banks of the Thames. Never encounter anything else than people walking their dogs or a fellow cyclist.
Glad to know you are ok!

Oh Craig, so glad you are ok. I am like you and think it is essential to wear a helmet. It can save your life.
I hope you are over the shock too as that’s a terrible thing.
Love watching you on qvc, you always make me smile.
    Love Jules

    Hi Craig,
sorry to hear about your accident but pleased that you are ok. My son who is in his 30’s never wear’s a helmet although we alway’s say he should. I really wish that you could tell him your story at the traffic lights, unfortunately we live in Buckinghamshire.
