Yesterday, I was delighted to be involved in probably the biggest and most important event in the QVC year. I spent the afternoon at the 13th Annual Breast Cancer Care fashion show in the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.
You can see our footage of this uplifting event on Thursday 15th October, when our 'Be Aware, Show You Care' event will screen from 7pm to 10pm.
Looking and feeling good after breast cancer
I went inside to meet 23 women and a man who have all had to cope with hearing those devastating words; "I'm sorry – you have breast cancer". They were all in high spirits, though, because the show is all about showing how good you can look and feel after breast cancer.
They were professionally schooled into performing an exciting display of fashion on the catwalk. QVC has filmed the stories behind the smiles of Ivy (left), Gisela and Janice, all of whom I caught up with backstage as the final touches to their hair and make-up were completed before the show.
You can hear how they felt next Thursday, and you can enjoy highlights of the fashion show itself. You'll also hear some of Alison Keenan's moving speech during the evening, who took time to stress how incredible the support for Breast Cancer Care has been from YOU, our wonderful, generous, warm-hearted viewers.
Over the years of our support for this much-needed charity you have helped us raise more than 2.6 MILLION POUNDS!!!
Considering that someone in the UK is diagnosed with breast cancer every 11 minutes, you can understand how important the help, support and information provided by Breast Cancer Care is – not just for someone coping with the disease but also their partner, children, family and friends.
The doors (and website and phone lines) are open to anyone, however trivial they may feel their particular worry.
So please tune into QVC next Thursday, when Alison and Dale will be at the helm of a new look style to our annual event. Anything you buy (all at huge discounts) will support BCC, or you can simply ring our donation line to pledge your support. Go on – be aware, show you care. Thanks!
Do take care,
