Feast your eyes on Alison Young’s Diamonique ring

To celebrate the milestones that are Alison Young's 15th Anniversary of her In the Salon shows and the upcoming 16th Anniversary of Diamonique, Alison was lucky enough to design her very own Diamonique ring to mark the prestigious occasions.

Diamonique ring If you caught In the Salon with Alison on Wednesday and Thursday night, you may have been lucky enough to get your hands on the bling-tastic design. But, fear not her specially-designed ring is now on advanced order, so place your orders now.

We caught up with Alison Young to talk about the design process and what she thinks of her signature piece…

"My anniversary Diamonique ring was a complete surprise to me, and quite a fortuitous moment too as Simon and I have been looking for a ring because my wedding ring has actually fused to my finger and needs to be cut off, my engagement ring no longer fits because of a wasp sting, and my eternity ring has now lost a diamond.

So we've been looking for a ring that I can wear when my wedding ring finally gets cut off and resized (this will be some time in the summer), but didn't want to spend lots of money because we are doing a house extension at the moment – it was perfect timing.

It was quite funny actually as all the jewellery buyers had a sweepstake about what my style was and they then put together a whole array of different designs, styles, cuts etc for me to choose from.

I like the jewellery I can't afford basically – the type of jewellery I see in Vogue, Tatler and expensive jewellers in Bond Street. So, I was describing this ring and the style I wanted, which I knew I would never be able to afford, and my signature ring was finally created (seen above).

During the process, a few amendments had to made because I wanted something incredibly glamorous and believable, but also comfortable too so that I could wear it all day, everyday. I don't take them off, so it had to be comfy – I wear them in the shower, wash my hair with them and even ride my horses wearing them.

I love the look of the stones and the believability of the piece. It's set with round-cut and baguette-cut Diamonique stones, which is more intricate and takes more time to set each individual stone. I also wanted it clad in platinum to match my wedding ring and engagement ring – plus it adds to the pure luxury of the piece. When I first saw the sample it exceeded my expectations – it was completely 10 times better than what I thought it was going to be. It is so believable.

It's an incredible look or under £50, and my friends and family thought Simon had bought me a new ring. They all thought it was real, even Julia Roberts who saw it before I went on air the other night.

I just hope you enjoy it as much as I do."

Hi Alison Sorry to hear about your dilemma with your rings, I have had to have my platinum wedding ring resized purely for comfort reasons and oh I may have put some weight on!!! Hope your foal has arrived now, could it possibly be she was a maiden mare, so the dates would have been a month out? Good luck Rhona x
