Ok so I admit it wasn’t sunny ALL the time – and we even had the sick bug do the rounds! Would you believe it on holiday? How dare those germs! Luckily it was a horrid but short-lived bug, so although Tom looks quite pitiful in the picture, he was back to fighting fit the next evening as indeed each of us were. How rare to all return home from a holiday a smidge lighter as we all missed a meal or two (better for the pocket at least)! All that aside, to actually feel the sun’s warmth on our skin, to see freckles and a healthy looking glow …the pallor of January erased, momentarily at least! Was quite simply a wonderful treat.
We stayed in a super place that we have been to before, which is vast, even though the hotel was pretty booked up you didn’t really see many people, although we bumped into Alix Poletski, the hotel inspector, was she checking out the hotel? I think not – like us, she was just enjoying a break with her family.
I had to stop Dan from sending Maddie over to ask a lady poolside if she were a famous actress! he was convinced and was googling her, poor lady, she did look really like her, but I think he was just wishing it was her!
For the children, an instant connection at the airport was made with them sleepily eyeing up two other children. They all obviously liked the look of each other and by the time we had our cases (I’m always fearful that the carousel will fail to show mine!), they were thrilled to realise we were heading to the same place.
I’m always aware that holidays are family time but that said, we seemed to easily segway into Tom delightedly greeting them each morning and plonking himself down on their set of sun beds! We were useless at saving the sun loungers and invariably were struggling to get a spot, so to “lose ” a child -so to speak – to another family worked quite well and as the children seemed to live in the pool we only had to ensure the dry towels were plentiful!
Going constantly in and out of the pool meant I was even more grateful to be slathering a good layer of Ultrasun Family Protection on. As the sun was a tad sporadic, the once a day application which makes Ultrasun so genius was perfect – no red bits, no rashes and, for me, the glitter formula to sparkle up the bod!
Maddie is so adept at ensuring she is safe in the sun and ends up taking the serious role of head Ultra sun applier to her brothers too! Perfect, as I can relax safe in the knowledge they are all covered.
We named Tom our social ambassador as he was known to everyone and joined in with lots, in fact a table tennis table (is it weird writing that, or is it just me?) may now have to be located for home as he was sooo good. The daily request to do Water Aerobics was taken up by all and Maddie helped with the class one time making everyone laugh, they had a lot of takers that session!
The Canary Islands can be chilly at night and I found myself dressing for dinner by adding scarves and whatever else I could possibly find to layer up in the evenings, matching or otherwise! Hence the hoodie, which was a necessity.
As we were a tad poorly, my pictures are sadly somewhat lacking and although Dan was attached to his iPhone fielding work phone calls, when the photo opportunity arose the storage was full or the battery went down, which often happens to us and is so annoying. I was so pleased to at least see ONE picture of the five of us that a kind lady took, as I do like to store the memories.
Since I’ve returned I’ve gone yellow-nailed with OPI’s new Brazilian colour, just to hang on to that sunshine feeling. I found Lulu ‘s Sunshine in a Bottle is all I’ve needed to enhance my skin – after GlamGlo that is – and am loving Mally’s brighter pops of colour on the lips…feels good to embrace the newness spring will offer!
I shall be very much enjoying ALL March has to offer (rain aside Mr. Weather, you have been warned) – it’s my birthday month, Mother’s Day and World Downs Syndrome Day on the 21st and of course “Jewellery Month” on QVC!
Every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in particular you can enjoy a fabulous Jewellery show and if you’d like to capture Charlie Brooks heart, you can do it – Charlie has the launch of the month’s Jewellery icon piece! Item nr 616232, his own design, which you adored, is now even more special with choices of rose (I loved that), yellow gold and the original silver. It now has an extender to lengthen it for you. He is justifiably proud of it and so he should be, it is beautiful and we were chatting about the price which is brilliant too, under £90. Failing that you can capture his heart with ….food! He needs food…lots of it and regularly!
Oh and you were asking about the Storm watch I wore last week.. Black, sleek and oversized, it was meant for Craig‘s wrist, but I just thought it looked fabulous with my leather dress…so I “borrowed” it!
Here’s where we can catch up on QVC -
