Sunny disposition and no more ‘salt n pepper’

Have you had one of those days where you’ve feel you’ve had a breakthrough moment? Where a situation in your life has changed for the better, and you feel it deep down in your bones that things are going to improve? I had a feeling like that last week when I woke up and re-started exercising to my Zumba DVDs for the first time in about 2 years. I felt it even more so today: weirdly for the last few months when I’ve been not had much energy or motivation to do much. I can’t really put my finger on what it was even – but I’ve definitely been down in the dumps for a very long while.

But today I strolled out up the road to the local shops in Great Barr, I chatted to my friend on the phone as I walked along, I got myself a cheeky Latte from Greggs, then headed to the local nail bar for a manicure and tootled home again. With a smile on my face and the sun in the sky. It felt good. I feel like I’ve turned a corner. Have you felt a happy, breakthrough moment like that? Let me know if you have.

Have you tried Colour Wow’s Root Cover Up yet? If you don’t know already it’s our Beauty Product of the Month – which means you get free postage. And this time we’ve got 2 Easy Pays on it too. Safe to say I’m addicted and have been for 2 years. I can’t go outside without using it on my ‘salt and pepper’ hairline first. I use it along the greys that are sprinkled along the front of my relaxed hair. I remember hearing award-winning hairdresser Simon Bryer telling me that’s a quirk of African-Caribbean hair types, as we get older. And quite frankly I’ve been a bit too lazy to crack on and get it dyed. The rest of my hair isn’t greying so I can’t see why to bother to just dye a few hairs and I make a mess with home hair dye kits. I have one in my make-up bag at home in Brum, and one in my QVC dressing room. Give it a whirl. I really like it. I reckon you will too. Watch the video on the weblink to see how you use it. It’s no mess, no fuss : )

    Hi Marv,

Good to hear you’re feeling so much better! But to be honest no-one would have known you were not feeling great! You must be very good at hiding it while you’re on TV, as you always seem to be such fun, chatty
and smiling. Thanks for the heads up about when you’re on, I’ll definitely be tuning in.

Hi Marverine, I always marvel at how perky and positive the presenters are on air. You all do a great job of uplifting us as viewers and you all look so glamorous while you do it! As a 10+ years customer of qvc I recently started buying fashion clearance bargains…has cheered me up no end after a tricky couple of years!

    Hi Wendy
Thanks for getting in touch. So kind of you to comment. I think sometimes when you don’t really know what’s up you kind of go ‘Oh get on with it’ – stiff upper lip and all that. Us Brits are famous for it, aren’t we? Lots of love and stay in touch xxx

WOW for” Wow” could not be without it. I have a shoulder length bob and find that my grey hair is more noticeable when my hair is up. Can use a mirror and still reach the back of my neck. No fuss, no mess and it works. Glad you are feeling better. Hopefully we will all have the opportunity to see some of that sunshine in your pic.

Marv – On Tuesday I decided (spur of the moment) to take the train to Aberystwyth in Wales, 2.5 hours away from where I live. Not only did I chat to a lovely woman for the first leg of the journey (hello if you’re reading this, and thank you for being so nice) but when I got to my destination, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the temperature was in the 70’s Celsius. Instead of doing my usual ‘thing’ of traipsing round the charity shops for books, I ventured out onto the low rocks that jutted out from the sea (the tide was out!) and sat there for nearly 3 hours with my eyes shut, just listening to the waves gently spilling in. There was only me and two other people in that part of the beach and I felt really at peace, if that makes sense? I’d intended going home on the 1.30 pm train but I was having such a relaxing time, I caught the 7.30 pm (!!!) train instead.

That unplanned day was, without doubt, the best day I’ve had in 2015 and did more to relieve my stress than months of medication could ever do. I could literally feel my brain ‘emptying’ as I took in the water, scenery and sea breeze and I’ve now bought myself a sketch book and some coloured pencils for the first time in my life, so that when I go back to the coast again, I can try and sketch what I’m seeing rather than just taking photographs.

Highly recommend stressed-out singletons like me to do likewise if you can find a bit of coast/river/water near to where you live. Your body will thank you.

Hi Marverine, thanks for asking if I am enjoying my bargains! I did get a bit tap happy on the ol’ tablet and made a few mistakes!…but I am happy to say that what was good was REALLY good! Elisabetta Villa came out on top I think, lovely simple Italian style and quality for the sale price. I also like Henfrey, Isaac Mizrahi and Liz Claiborne for basics.

So I’m a 46 year old at home Mum with a four year old boy. My career clothes didn’t work in the home environment and I made a promise to myself not to let myself go. Difficult to describe what style suits someone like me…It’s not yummy Mummy (they tend to be younger!) but a step up from that and yet smart casual is too smart. I’m not retired but I’m not young either! Dresses/skirts aren’t really right if you’re playing on the floor. it’s ‘versatile simplicity with a sophisticated twist’ I want to look like I have thought about it and got it right :) QVC is helping me do that. After 50 hours of fashion I got my first MarlaWynne which is wonderful. I feel I am part of an untapped market but maybe QVC could be going in the right direction as more women have children later in life! Bye for now.
