Summer holidays in the Isle of Wight

Spinnaker Tower Hello, guess where I went recently.. again?

The Isle of Wight! Of course! I am a little guilty of mentioning it a fair bit in my blogs (and when on air at QVC!) maybe I should work for the Isle of Wight Tourist board!

I headed there with the kids by bike. We didn't cycle all the way, the train to Portsmouth looked after much of the journey. We're keen cyclists and we all ride BMX bikes (even me!) so they're not ideal for long distances. When reaching the island we cycled on from Ryde.

We had a fantastic time and when arriving at Dads were greeted with the most delicious homemade fruit salad (I'd rather not mention how many servings I had!) It was an extra special visit as my sister is now home after 18 months in Australia so we had a lot of catching up to do.

Across the Solent The photo on the left is looking across the Solent to Portsmouth, the view is one of my favourites – with sailing and rowing boats plus the odd cruise liner passing by! The picture above is from our return journey to Portsmouth. I think the Spinnaker Tower is a beautiful piece of arcitecture, although I've yet to pay a visit.

Have you been? I'm told the views are stunning with an amazing 350 degree panoramic view! It stands at 170 metres and on a clear day you can see upto 23 miles!

So, the school holidays are ticking by. Have you been away abroad or stayed local? We've stayed in the UK this year with regular visits to the island and another favourite destination, Portland in Dorset.

Take care and happy holidays!!

Charlie x

Blimey Charlie, you should get an award for how regularly you blog! Can you teach the other ‘lads’ how it’s done, lol! I’ve never been to IOW but it’s on my list. I have a fortnight’s holiday in September and I’m coming to QVC Towers so watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only joking, I’m actually quite normal in the flesh- honestly! I hope I get to meet you. x

    Dear Charlie,
We were meant to holiday on the Isle of Wight from today, but my 83 year old Mum broke her hip very badly last Friday. She is quite poorly so I have written to you today to see if you could send her a get well card. Hopefully you’ll receive my letter this week.
We always stay in the village of Shorwell…it is so lovely and quiet there. Best Wishes,Melanie

Hi Charlie, we visited the Isle of Wight last week for the first time. We enjoyed it all, starting from the ferry Portsmouth to Fishbourne and back all in one day from London, it was a glorious sunny day and the sea was beautiful, I love the sea and islands! we loved all we saw of the island and particulary liked Seaview. We will need to go back and explore the rest of the island that we didnt have time to visit.
