The Isle of Wight! Of course! I am a little guilty of mentioning it a fair bit in my blogs (and when on air at QVC!) maybe I should work for the Isle of Wight Tourist board!
I headed there with the kids by bike. We didn't cycle all the way, the train to Portsmouth looked after much of the journey. We're keen cyclists and we all ride BMX bikes (even me!) so they're not ideal for long distances. When reaching the island we cycled on from Ryde.
We had a fantastic time and when arriving at Dads were greeted with the most delicious homemade fruit salad (I'd rather not mention how many servings I had!) It was an extra special visit as my sister is now home after 18 months in Australia so we had a lot of catching up to do.
The photo on the left is looking across the Solent to Portsmouth, the view is one of my favourites – with sailing and rowing boats plus the odd cruise liner passing by! The picture above is from our return journey to Portsmouth. I think the Spinnaker Tower is a beautiful piece of arcitecture, although I've yet to pay a visit.
Have you been? I'm told the views are stunning with an amazing 350 degree panoramic view! It stands at 170 metres and on a clear day you can see upto 23 miles!
So, the school holidays are ticking by. Have you been away abroad or stayed local? We've stayed in the UK this year with regular visits to the island and another favourite destination, Portland in Dorset.
Take care and happy holidays!!
