Lulu had invited Larry and me to be among her guests for the evening at the live show on Saturday night.
She had the most magnificent flying entrance the previous week and wowed the judges, and this week it was the Tango. A little more technical and dramatic but Lulu's such a pro and an amazing performer that I knew even if she went out it would be in true style.
It was a long day and we had to be at the BBC for 3pm to ensure everyone was seated. I sat next to Harry's girlfriend and the rest of McFly. Holly's boyfriend, Nick Candy, was in front of me and David Walliams to my left, as it was his mum's birthday, and Westlife were playing live. What a birthday treat, huh?!
Time flew and it was touch and go just before we went live whether Artem (Holly's partner) was going to dance due to a back injury and he just made it through the performance.
Tess Daley (above left) and Bruce did a few teases pre recorded before we went live and Tess looked stunning. So truly beautiful and endearing, as I had expected. Shoes to die for by the way.
The count came for the live show and Lulu was up first. Looking a little nervous but she nailed it and tangoed her heart out. She did us proud and it was a real shock to everyone when she was in the last two as she wasn't low on the leader board.
She has this wonderful Peter Pan way about her that loves life. She had so much energy still and was truly sad to go. We all hugged tearfully on the dance floor but my favourite piece was her dance off. She free dances at the end and looks so at home centre stage dancing her own Lulu style just the way we love her.
It was great to catch up with Flavia (pictured below) who is my favourite dancer and have a chat with Audley (just above, left) who was adorable and just loving it. Lulu stood on a chair to match her height with Audley, it was so funny. You can see from my picture how tall he is.
Robbie's friends sat next to Larry and we were all behind each other's dancers cheering them all on. You can see how tense they all are before their dance.
The costumes and make-up are amazing and a lot of bottles of beau bronze have well and truly come to great use. Best fake tan ever. I used it for my New York trip on the red carpet.
I was so proud of Lulu as, being a dancer, I know how tough it is. It's one thing in a dance rehearsal to then full costume, make-up and high shoes and then going live to the nation and finally remembering the dance routine that you have worked so hard all week to shine in the ballroom.
We love you Lulu and here's to our next show on QVC together.
Didn't she do well?
