Step into spring

Solar path light in Butterfly designHi all and many thanks for your comments last week – Marian I wasn't avoiding you or your freshly baked buns – I was going through the 'Garden Re-Leaf' show with Richard Jackson, as you correctly surmised.

On that note thanks to all who supported that show – I'm not sure of the final figures but I understand we easily broke the fund raising target we had set ourselves. So a huge thank you from both QVC and the Greenfingers charity for your purchases and a huge debt of thanks to all the participating suppliers on the night, who donated at least £1 per transaction to such a worthwhile charity.

So spring has definitely sprung this week on QVC, and although there may be the odd cold evening around, the sun is doing its best to put its hat on and everyday it gets a little higher in the sky.

To celebrate that fact we have a wonderful 'Step Into Spring' 3-day event, where all on-air items and some featured web items are on 3 Easy Pay… nice ! As you'd expect, there's a varied array of offerings from a fabulous Honora cultured freshwater pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings set TSV, to a set of 3D solar path lights, which is Friday's TSV that I'll be launching on Thursday night with Gill Gauntlet – in a premiere Garden Light show featuring Luxform. They come in a set of 4 and we are also offering a 'Buy More Save More' option – and don't forget, even at an amazing price under £15 plus P&P, the TSV will still be on 3 Easy Pays!

Solar path light in Blossom designI've included a couple of pictures, which give a hint of the 3D-effect – I've shown the Blossom and Butterfly versions – there's also a Rose option. I think they would work in hanging baskets as well as along paths, that way you can appreciate the 3D-effect up closer to your eye line, unless you prefer to view them lying down on the pathway! That reminds me of my pal Neal at a summer party! He still blames the fruit punch!

In the movies, winter is shown with thick frost and snow all around – then from behind a cloud the sun appears and everything cold melts and fresh shoots emerge with scorching days a day later. Well spring, in the UK is certainly not quite that defined, is it? The seasons definitely merge quite a bit and we have to be prepared for anything at almost any time of the year, don't we? I mentioned this last week and already I've been caught out with the wrong attire – never mind, I'll get it right just in time for next winter!

Stay warm, or cool, but most importantly safe and well, and we'll catch up next week. Better dash, I'm off to The Q to stuff myself with gorgeous food from 'The King's Realm'. MMMmmmmmmmmmm! What? I don't enjoy it – I do it just for you the faithful Q Customer! (Note: this statement is yet to be verified as entirely accurate!)

I’m going to keep this one frolic-free cos I reckon you have me down as a bit of a bunny boiler Daleo! Soz but I don’t believe you weren’t avoiding me. I can just hear you now with RJ in that ReLeaf prep hour ………. “oooh, you’ll have to run that by me again RJ, I haven’t quite got it. What’s the difference between a perennial and an annual again”!!! Did you hear that one last year Gail??!! I thought at the time, he’s gotta be joking right!!!!!
Yes it definitely feels like spring has sprung today. I’m here sitting in my garden having just scoffed a Magnum Ghana (dale’icious in case you haven’t tried them). Nothing like the feel of the warm sun on your face (of course I have my Ultrasun Face 30 on ……. just in case Ali Young reads this …. wouldn’t want to scupper any chances of another appearance for Elemis!) Only trouble is, every time I look up, I see another job! Fence to paint, bench to oil, soil to nourish, grass to feed (oh no, Chris did that yesterday ……. with RJ’s Lawn Magic of course!). Do you like birds Dale? I mean the feathered variety??!! Our beautiful song thrushes are back from last year. Every time they see one of us, there they are peering through the french doors for some plump juicy raisins or sultanas. They’re so tame. And for the first time in four years since we put some nest boxes up, we have some blue tits nesting in one of them. So, all in all, life is good and never more than sitting here in the sunshine enjoying it all!

Hi Martin – glad to hear you are well and thanks for reading the BOTF.
Hi Marian, yes you’re right its a lovely time of year and Im glad youre able to kick off your shoes and enjoy this sunshine. We’ve got Blue Tits nesting in our eaves at the moment. They really are beautiful but it gets a bit noisy when the chicks hatch out – let’s all enjoy it whilst it last! Dale x

Morning Ma and Mr Franklin. I was waiting to see if you would return to Mr F’s blog Ma considering how hurt you are; I can feel it in your writing. I don’t want a ‘frolic free’ Ma, I want the lovely, jovial, happy go lucky, funny Ma back; the one who always makes me laugh no matter how down (but never out) I feel. I think Mr Franklin has really upset you and, truthfully, I feel that Mr Franklin could have given you five minutes of his time to say hello. If my broomstick wasn’t in for its yearly service I would have flown straight over to the Q and told you so personally Mr Franklin.
Right, the nagging’s over and I think Mr Franklin gets our drift. Now, what was all that the other evening Daleo re solar lights that you were presenting? “Bring the solar lights into the house if you’re having a party” you said. Apart from dark ones, what kinda parties do you throw Daleo? Call me ‘old fashioned’, but when it comes to parties I prefer traditional; you know, drink in one hand and a good old sausage roll in the other. I can’t really see a drink in one hand and a solar light in the other catching on Daleo.
Come back soon Ma xx We’re both harmless Daleo, honestly.

Sorry Dale, my comments came across as a bit rude so I apologise. Glad everyone enjoying this lovely weather. Bye for now.
