Alison has been with QVC since 2000 but before then she was doing everything and anything in TV from script writing, creating programme ideas and working as a professional voice-over artist to presenting Granada’s daytime show ‘This Morning’.

She has three grown-up children and off screen she enjoys spending time with them and her partner Colin, good food, music and the odd glass of wine!

Great to have our new system up and running, and to whichever lovely lady it was who posted a comment last week requesting the item number for the Centigrade Coat I had bought it’s 124613. There are many different colours to choose from, but I went for the chocolate brown. I’ve washed it several times and it’s still as good as new, so good luck with that one, and thanks for your lovely message. Keep in touch! Ali

Hi Alison, saw you recently when you mentioned the doll Tressy. The ad went, Tressys got a secret, be the one who knows. You can style Tressy’s hair to match her new high fashion wear, her hair grows. Unfortunately I really believed you could cut it and it would grow back, least said. Alexandra

Hi Alison, Some time ago you presented a jewellery show, I cannot remember the name but you were wearing a beautiful blue/mauve flower necklace, I am not sure if it was b & w or not. Could you please tell me. You kept it on throughout the show and it looked really lovely. Thank you in anticipation. Val

please can you tell me what Honora necklace you often wear? It is the black one. I have phoned but they say that it is your own – it’s a fabulous one. If it is available, please can you put me out of my misery?

How lovely to find all these comments! I’ll answer them in order:
Firstly Alexandra – sorry I hadn’t seen this previously, as it did make me laugh. Not just that like you I believed Tressy’s hair would grow back but you remembered the ad!
Valerie – you are absolutely right. The beautiful blue/mauve necklace was a Butler and Wilson one, but it was in a show way back in August 2007 so not sure if it’s still available. Do check the web site to see and good luck
Heather – thanks for your comment. Yes the Honora necklace is one that I had from their US collection, although a little bird told me that something not that dissimilar will be coming to the UK in March!!! Watch this space.

    Hi Alison,
Yes, I also know what it is to wear a gum sheild I was doing the exact same thing as you. I still wear it and have had it nearly 2 years I must admit I dont wear it every night as it kinda dulls the passion! Good Luck and persevere with it, Linda x

  7. Julie March 8, 2009 at 1:49 pm -  Reply

    Hi Alison
I too have had to wear a gum sheild to bed. I’ve been wearing it for about 18 months. In fact this is my second-I bit through my first one after 2 nights! But honestly don’t worry they’re not that bad and you will get used to it. They definitely did the job for for me and try not to stress-I’m a fine one to talk though!

Hi Linda – I agree completely! What with a gum shield, bed socks and gloves over my handcream, my man has to be very determined!! I hope wearing it though has helped with your stress levels and that things are good for you and yours. Thanks for writing – lovely to read your comments

    Hi Julie,
It’s amazing how many of us there are out there wearing these things! You were unlucky after only 2 nights – and they cost the earth too! I am certainly getting more used to it and my jaw is less sore too now, although I do sometimes wear it in the car cos driving in London can be pretty stressful at times. Just pray no one stops to ask me directions! Do hope life is as stress free as possible for you and yours though, and thanks so much for writing. Have a good weekend.

Hi Heather, Not sure if you’ll find this, but I’ll make sure to mention it on air, but the TSV from Honora on the 30th March is to be a large black pearl necklace, very similar to the one I wear and you asked about. I thought you might like to get a little advance warning! :)

    Hi Alison
Following on from our previous conversation regarding gum shields and hoping my life was as stress free as possible-well my weekend couldn’t have been worse! I was involved in a serious road accident having to be cut free! I am begining to walk again with the aid of a walking stick-good job I wasn’t wearing shield then as you sometimes do!
Hoping this weekend will be better-please!

Julie! You poor thing. I am SO sorry to hear about the accident, and thank the Lord that you are up and on the move again. After Sam’s accident nearly two years ago, I know how stressful being in hospital can be, but am very relieved to hear that you’re on the mend. Please take care of yourself, and let me know how you’re doing. I hope you manage to have a Happy Easter.

Hilary, how very kind of you! I think it’s probably the skin care as well as the make up so here’s a little list. Liz Earle’s cleanse and polish, then Elemis’s Tri Enzyme Skin Wash. I’ve been trialling the new Gatineau DefiLift 3D Perfect Design Volume Concentrate serum which is rather lovely, and then follow this with Elemis Pro Collagen Marine cream and their pro collagen eye renewal. Neck and decollete always Declerum Aromessence Sculpt! My make up foundation is Bare Minerals and the colour I use is Medium Tan. This always seems to sit evenly on my skin. I do hope this helps and any one of the above we of course sell! Thank you again for your lovely compliment, and thank you for being in touch.

    Hi Alison
Thanks for you prompt reply and concern about my accident. I am slowly getting better and am able to walk a few steps without my walking stick-although it’s putting pressure on other parts of my body-ie my cracked ribs and other parts of my leg etc. I have to see my GP next week and hopefully start physio shortly as at this point I don’t need an MRI scan. It’s not just the physical side of things but the mental side. Being carried on a trauma board is the worst experience ever! Not recommended! Also the fear of driving/going in a car is going to be tough. Enough of my problems, hope you and yours are well. Will let you know how I get on next week.

Thank you for updating me Julie. The more I hear about your accident the more amazed I am to hear that you are up at all! The trauma board by its very name sounds ghastly, and I’m sure the journey by ambulance was none too easy either. My blue light ride with Sam will stay with me always…. It may be worth your while talking to somebody about your concerns and fears re: driving. It’s completely understandable, but there are so many professionals who could work through it with you that it may be worth considering when you’re ready. I’ll look forward to hearing how you get on next week. We’re all fine here – I’ve been all over the place which you can read about when I update my blog this week! Take care Julie,

    Hi Ali (again!)
I totally agree with what you say above. The ambulance journey was the longest 20 minutes of my life having to drive slowly incase of any spinal injury. I had a panic attack whilst being taken there. The paramedic thinks I may be suffering from claustrophobia-just another question to ask my GP next week, along with when can I have my hair high lighted as my head has also been glued due to a laceration! I have to try to keep my spirits up and keep going. My high light at the moment was receiving my Liz Earle Beauty products yesterday! How easy am I to please?! Someone was definitely looking down on me that particular day-40 years to the day my Father died and 10 years my Mum- I think that says it all!
Look forward to hearing from you again

Julia, I too believe in fate and divine intervention, and clearly it was not your time, although the date was probably one you didn’t need reminding of in this way! Your GP I’m sure will be very helpful and do take care with the hair colour – that can be very sore for quite some time. I’m so glad that Liz’s products cheered you. You need to have something, however small, to lift your spirits, although I think your attitude is enough to lift anyone’s spirits. Here’s to you and the rest of a good week.

You certainly sound as though you have kissed the Blarney Stone!!!! You are a pleasure to watch and very entertaining. Look forward to seeing you on the screen again soon. Lovely to hear from you Maria, and Keenan is my married name – although I am now divorced – but the original family name was O’Keefe, three generations back, and we hailed from County Cork. Your comments are very much appreciated, and thank you for taking the time out. I spent many happy years visiting my ex’s family in Dublin and in the South of Ireland but I have never ventured North. Perhaps this will be my year :) I’m on again tonight with the Liz Earle launch at midnight, so look forward to your company then. Ali x

Lovely to hear from you, and yes of course I will have a word with the fashion buyers about sizing for the Tiana B Dresses. I know that this range is fast growing in popularity, and I’m sure they’ll be receptive to your request. I know that Kim and Co, and Casual and Co also carry dresses in their ranges and Nina Leonard too – all in 3XL, so maybe have a look online? Thanks very much for writing to me. I hope you’ll have a good week.

    Hi Alison
It occurred to me today (and I think a few weeks ago), that I haven’t seen you on the tele in ages, “Oh No!” I thought, “The best presenter on QVC hasn’t left has she?” Well, having looked up your blog, I’m glad to see it looks like you haven’t, but that you might have had some family & personal problems. I’m very sorry to hear that, and I just wanted to wish you well; and having seen your photo at the Kylie concert, you seem to appear about 10 years younger, with your new longer hair ;-)
I watch QVC more often in the Autumn & Winter, in the run up to Christmas really, so I hope to see you back by then; your charm, ready whit, steady hand, and lightness of touch, leaves many presenters grasping at rather meagre straws ;-)

    Dear Alison
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been, and are, so ill! I had no idea – bless your heart! You’re my favourite presenter, along with Debbie Greenwood, and you both have the same sense of humour as me, which is great. I hope it helps get you through this rather desperate time. Humour and faith and really good family & friends help you to cope with almost anything don’t they. Please know that I am praying for you. I have M.E. and know how fatigue and pain can be so depressing, so I have bright spots in my week to look forward to, just little things, like a visit from a friend, or a phone call to a loved one. A treat from QVC (natch) occasionally, and a great book. All these things help us to work our way through life’s hazards don’t they. I hope you have plenty of bright spots, and hope and that God sustains you as you go through intensive therapy. Kindest regards, Allison

Dear Allison, Thank you so much for taking the time out to write to me and I’ll pass on your best to Debbie Greenwood – many a time has she made me smile over the last five months or more :) I am sorry to hear about your ME – the more I learn about this illness, the more I realise all that you and other sufferers have to go through, and so I think your incredibly positive attitude is admirable :) You’re right about the fatigue and discomfort getting you down, but I like you have faith and kind people in my life, and these things make it bearable :) It is lovely to hear from you and I will hold on to your positivity, with my thanks, Ali xx

I think Pisceans are going thru’ it at the moment, (several of my friends are Pisceans) but I feel things will start to get betta in the near future. Please take care and I look forward to seeing you back on the telly, soon – it just ain’t the same without you! Love, Yvonne

Hi Alison – I met you in the Liz Earle shop last year when they were doing their special Brides Evening – we had a little chat about my daughter getting married in Cyprus. At the time I was wearing my wig “in public” for the first time and so I have some idea what you are going through. I finished my treatment in June last year – hair all grown back now and life almost feels normal now!! I’m sure you will be fine, you have a great attitude and thats half the battle. Wishing you all the best at this rotten time and just wanted to send you good wishes from a fellow “Kylie”!!! The wedding was gorgeous even tho I was somewhat limited in my contribution!! Lots of love to you Bev xx

Hi Alison, just wanted to say what an inspiration you are and have been. I am 47 years old and i too was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2009, 44 years old – what a shock! but we get over that and have no choice but to deal with it. I had a lumpectomy and then again a re-excision, followed by radiotherapy and then four lots of fat transferral to boost the dent left in my chest! It certainly puts things into prespective and like yourself, makes you make the most of your life and to help others 2. You looked absolutely wonderful on the charity night, so feminine, so beautiful and so humble. Joy, Mansfield xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi there Vicky, sorry not to have got back to you – I have been rather remiss in checking this main blog! The wig is one that we stock under the Ken Pavis range – 433179 – and is currently reduced at £83. The colour I wear is cinnamon, but sadly I think that’s sold out. That said, there are at least six other colours and all look great. I wish your friend the very best of luck with her treatment, and hope that she stays strong throughout. Love Ali xx

I am an avid watcher of QVC. I love all the shows and find them very informative.
I was watching you on the Decleor show on Sunday night (26 May) and fell in love with the dress you were wearing. It was purple/white and black with a wrap over top – absolutely beautiful. I am going to a wedding later this year and have been struggling to find a suitable outfit and that dress would just fit the bill – it would be absolutely perfect. Obviously it wouldn’t look as good on me. :-) If you could let me know where you got it from would be much appreciated.

I have trawelled through QVC and every web-site I can think of that sells ladies tops and t shirts without success. Orange is my favourite colour but I can never usually find any thing suitable in the right design that ticks all the boxes.

Hi Alison have been watching your show with Lulu’s time bomb (on repeat) and you were wearing a beautiful bracelet, which was made of gold mesh with diamonds (diamonique) sparkling in the middle and a pull chord fastener. Ive had a look online but cannot see it. Wondered if you could tell me the item number. This would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards
