It’s hard to believe as the weather is still so grotty, but spring is well and truly round the corner now. I was reminded of this fact as I shivered in my garden this week, digging over the flowerbeds and fantasising about all the lovely things I’m going to grow this year.
I stopped for a moment to rub my numb fingers, and then I spotted them – the first crocuses of the year, peeking their little heads through on the stony area around the garden pond.
I love gardening. We moved house about a year and a half ago from a town house that just had a small patio – now we’re lucky enough to have a large garden, and I spend a lot of time pottering around in it. And, if I’m honest, drinking gin and tonics in it, but I need better weather for that – roll on summer!
We live in Gloucestershire, which I adore. It’s such a beautiful county, and has great motorway links so it’s pretty easy for me to get to London and to cities like Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff. Being freelance, I tend to spend a lot of time in my car, travelling from one job to another, but I always love coming home.
My husband is a GP in a small town nearby, so he has a 12-minute drive to the surgery – lucky him! I don’t mind though, as I’ve spent the last 15 years travelling long distances for work, so you get pretty used to it. It helps a lot when you love what you do, like I do!
I’m hosting one of the big Elemis shows on Sunday (and I’ve had a sneaky peek at the Elemis Today’s Special Value which is gorgeous – some limited edition packaging in there which will look great on the bathroom shelf!), so last week I was sent off to spend an afternoon at Elemis HQ in Baker Street. As it’s a brand I’m not very familiar with, I had a crash course in some of the biggest sellers. I’m still loving the fact that sitting around chatting about beauty products for an afternoon is actually WORK – it is SUCH good fun!
I also got my hands on a Centigrade mac that was a Today’s Special Value last week. I was given a stone coloured one to try (pictured above), so I took it out for dinner at the local pub last night. I think it had a good time – I certainly did!
Anyway it’s a weekend of work ahead for me – as well as Elemis I’m presenting a Miele hour and two fashion shows this weekend, so it should be fun. Oh – and I’ve just found out I’m doing a Cozee Home show next week, about which I am irrationally excited. (If you read my last blog, you’ll know I have become ever so slightly obsessed with that bedding range. Four sets down already…)
Have a great weekend!
