So Lady Gaga!

Auntie Anne and baby SophieNo! Not that one! This is about me totally "gaga" over the latest addition to our family! On the 1st October at 10.15am little Sophie entered the world much to the joy of her mummy and daddy (Louise and Dan) and the absolute delight of her great "auntie Anne"! Big smiles all round :)

Can I just say a big thanks to all of you who responded to my last blog with well wishes and also a big well done to those of you who guessed the names correctly? Apologies for the delaying getting back to you but I've been spinning around on cloud nine :)

Mummy and babyI am writing this blog sitting in Louise's living room watching little Sophie get ready for her afternoon nap. If I was to tell you that she is just like a little doll, utterly beautiful and a delight to behold, I guess you could accuse me of being slightly biased. Well you'd be right!

Check out all the lovely photos, I have loads but perhaps just a few at this point in time will suffice. (I am very aware that this doting auntie could quite easily go into overkill here!) This little lady's full title is Sophie Anne-Marie – Anne after my mum and I, and Marie after my sister.

My only complaint is how far away they are – Nottingham! Although it's only a couple of hours or so drive away, that's a loss of valuable cuddling time! I tell you what though, it may be nearly 17 years since I last did the whole baby thing, but it does indeed all come flooding back in an instant!

There is an up side to this distance though, as it means when I visit I get to stay for longer periods. As a result, the men in my life are having to fend for themselves for a few days as little Sophie and I get acquainted, but I'm sure they'll cope!

Baby SophieI promise more regular contact by way of blogs and responses as things settle down, but in the meantime I will leave you with the words of Mary Popppins, Sophie truly is "practically perfect in every way"!

Take care you lovely lot!
Anne x

Congratulations to all. Sophie is adorable. I’m sure she is going to be absolutely spoiled rotten, that’s what doting auntie Anne’s are for after all.
We have now officially adopted our gorgeous granddaughter ,after we lost her mummy. I don’t mind saying, she is also delight, and I completely agree Anne, it all does come flooding back lol. She’s 4 now but I had forgotten all that involves, but every so often, I get that ahhhhhhhh moment when I remember!
Enjoy every moment with that little bundle, in no time at all, she will be hurtling around so fast, you will have to grab a cuddle as she wheechs past!
Louise looks amazing by the way, just beautiful.
My love to you all, and a special wee squishy snuggle for beautiful wee Sophie.

Aw Anne, Sophie is a doll indeed! Absolutely beautiful. I hope Louise is ok and birth not too horrendous. Sure her and Dan are rather sleep deprived but she looks amazing in the photo above!! So been looking forward to this blog announcement! I am sure quite emotional for you all but im sure your sister is looking down on you all with pride xx

Congratulations “Great Aunt Anne”. It really is a wonderful time. I remember when my first great nephew was born, I was so excited and drove them mad at work. Unfortunately they lived in Germany and my sister was in Luton and I was in Newcastle. … Being desperate to meet him I bussed to Luton, we drove to Dover ferried to Holland – I was ill all the time – bussed to Germany then drove to their front door phew but he was so worth it. My sister and I took him out for a walk and phoned our Mum we were very cruel and made Mark cry so she could hear him. He is 25 years old now but I still think of that magical time. Good health to all and enjoy.

    Hi Anne,
What fantastic news! You are on Cloud Nine and no wonder – Sophie looks beautiful. Speaking from personal experience, being an Aunty is fab and it’s a very special relationship. My first nephew arrived over 8 years ago and my life hasn’t been the same since!
Keep enjoying your cuddles with little Sophie and my congratulations to Louise and Dan,
    Beth XXX.

Lovely to hear from you Pauline!!
I know this travel lark is a bit of nuisance isn’t it.
I don’t know how many times I keep looking at my diary trying to juggle things in order to squeeze in another visit somehow.

    Hi Anne
I hope you have managed to spend more time with that little bundle of gorgeousness.
It always amazes me how something so teeny, can make SO much noise!! Ear defenders should be supplied by maternity units when being discharged! Lol.
Having said that. Our little one is 4 and I’m sure she could give little Sophie a run for her money in the noise department!
    Hugs to Sophie.
    Love Una xx

Oh Joy! It is indeed a joy to hear from you! Thank you my darling for your kind words and well wishes.
To anyone reading this, I know this lady personally and I reckon her parents could definitely see that by giving her this name, that’s exactly what she would become……..a “joy” to all around!!
Lots of love to you my darling!!

Una! Yes a 4 year old running around I do believe would rate quite highly in the noise department!!
They do indeed grow up so quickly. Lets make the most of the time they’re “little people”!!
Thank you for your lovely comments.
    Take care
