Snow, sunshine and sleep

11

Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing well and are thoroughly thawed after the snow we had a couple of weeks ago. We were lucky. We had just enough to make things pretty but not so much to cause too much chaos. I posted a pic of me in the snow on my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and lots of people asked about my coat. Here it is, it’s by Centigrade. I love it so much I bought one for my best gal pal, Mandy, a couple of years ago and she loves hers, too!

As nice as the snow is, I recently realised that I hadn’t been away for longer than a four day break in the sun for over ten years so I decided to put some feelers out among friends and find some winter sunshine to bathe in. Our lovely Anne Dorrington (one of our on air guests and dear friends) recommended the island of Fuerteventura. I’d never been before and I can honestly say it was just what the doctor ordered! As an extra bonus Anne was out there the week that I was so we met up one evening for a good old catch up at a restaurant right next to the sea.

She gave me all the hints and tips about where to go and what to do but my favourite tip was that the beaches are inhabited by little chipmunks who like nibbling nuts! Here’s a video of a cheeky chipmunk I got to know via the gift of the humble cashew.

Anne and I both laughed when we noticed how much of what we’re wearing was from QVC. Jewellery, shoes, bags, clothes, hat… proper little QVC queens, we are. I was gutted that I couldn’t find my Kipling monkeys scarf as I normally wear that as a sarong but I bought a new one out there. The eagle eyed among you may be able to spot tops I wore from Join, shoes by Clarks and a hat by Pia Rossini.

Something else we had in common was Ultrasun!

I showed her a pic of my collection in my hotel bathroom and one I’d taken by the pool. She had taken an almost identical shot on the beach of her Ultrasun faves. Sadly, for me, I wasn’t as thorough as I had thought on my first day sunbathing. I did something I’ve never done before. I seriously toasted my toes!! Just the very tips of my big toes, would you believe?? They’re still like bright red Rudolph noses as you can see! It shows how effective the products are, though. Sometimes, missing a bit is when you see how well it worked on all the other parts!

If you’re a fan of Ultrasun like Anne and I, check out this week’s brilliant Big Deal. We’re offering you a massive saving until Sunday night on a gorgeous three-piece collection.

I chose a hotel which had a separate, nice, quiet section. It was like a smaller hotel within a bigger complex. I simply loved it. It was next to the beach, was all-inclusive (which I’d never tried before), had a nice warm pool, great food and plenty of space around the peaceful pool area.

Speaking of the pool, I made a massively exciting discovery.

I had been a tad concerned I’d have trouble finding food to suit my vegan diet but there was a chef called Juan who was amazingly creative and understanding. He made me special meals every day! I wasn’t expecting that at all! From garlic grilled vegetable platters to stunning salads and even a gorgeous tofu pizza, I ate remarkably well! All washed down with an oat milk latte in the mornings and later in the day the odd cava and pina colada may just have passed my lips! It was just what I needed. Time to relax.

Onto the subject of relaxation. To celebrate World Sleep Day and National Bed Month, QVC’s Sleep Better event will be showcasing sleep-related brands across the entire month of March. Sleep is essential to feeling refreshed and rested and is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle, if you sleep better you feel better. We have been (and continue to be) featuring key bedding brands such as Sealy, Northern Nights and the launch of Tempur online.

Look out for a great Silentnight Today’s Special Value launching with the lovely Charlie Brook on the 20th. The month will also showcase the important part your environment can play in getting a good night’s sleep and will include beauty, home and fashion buys to make sure you feel rested and cozy. We are also bringing in some great sleep experts to help with sleep issues.

I love my sleep. I recently invested in some Cozee Home bedding (you may see it in the pic of my burned toes!). It is seriously wonderful! If you haven’t tried it I highly recommend you do with our fantastic, and world famous, 30 day money back guarantee!

Thanks for stopping by and having a read. Remember, there’s a new blog every Wednesday aka #huntleyhumpday and, if you don’t already, you can join in daily with me online by following me on social media as listed below.

Love your blog to read. I’m pleased that snow has gone and now hopefully the spring will burst in and give us some warm weather. But I think the Beast from the East will be back again this week. Holidays and fun days with friends to look forward to. Hugs my lovely.

Oops…I seem to have replied to Sue twice!

Dear Jan, the hotel was called Esencia and it was a smaller hotel within the Princess de Fuerteventura. Worth looking it up. I loved it!

Hi Catherine noticed you said your vegan is this how you lose weight I’ve been thinking about doing it for a while x

      Hi Jackie,

I have lost a little being on a vegan diet but I’m allowing myself treats like vegan pizza and crisps sometimes so I’m not losing it as fast as in the past. When I’m being ‘good’ and getting plenty of fruit and veg I do lose it. I’m feeling really good on many levels for it.

If you’re after weight loss I highly recommend Christianne Wolff’s Body Rescue Plan. She has a vegan version as well as a more mainstream one. It taught me so much!

Good luck with your health journey and veganism.

Catherine your previous blog mentioned your various hairstyles. I loved your blonde look but your current dark fringed style suits you so well and you look so young! My husband guessed your age as early twenties and when I showed him the pic of you and your daughter he insisted you must really be sisters! Your break sounds blissful but glad you’re back on Q.

      Hi Mitzi,

I do like your name. I also like your very kind comments! Thank you for making my day. It’s nice to be home.

Love to you and your hubby,

      Catherine x
