Snow laughing matter!

Hi everyone!

I've missed being around this week but I have had great difficulties getting into work like many around the UK although it has given me some very valuable and precious time with a dear friend who is very ill so, in some ways, it has been a blessing in disguise.

It's beautiful but we've certainly seen tough times for motorists trying to get into and out of our road, myself obviously included, as we are on a steep hill.

When it first began snowing on tuesday evening it was so pretty..and then it was a blizzard and in only 5 minutes there was a coating of white over everything!!

I was the most excited big kid in the house and persuaded Steve and the kids (now 17 and 15) to come out into the snowy night time to enjoy it.

I think it's clear to see we all had a wonderful time. There is something so magical about the snow even though it has caused so many travel problems.

Our snowman was quite a 'dude' but was very lonely until we created a lovely snow lady for him. She is the most voluptuous snow person I have ever seen, Steve took a shine to her!

Hope you've managed to have some
  fun in the snow, too.

Lots of love,

What lovely photos of your fun in the snow! Love the snow people – quite a few people around where we live have been making the most of the unexpected snow and making lots of snowmen (no women for some reason!) One down the road stands about 8 feet tall! I haven’t made one myself but it reminds me of making them with my Nana in the garden and of the time my mum and I made one when I was about 8 and we used my Dad’s prized straw trilby. Of course my Dad has still never forgiven us for ruining it more than 30 years later!
I couldn’t help but notice how much you daughter looks like you! I don’t look at all like my Mum although we are very close. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi LouLou!
Oh dear, it sounds mad where you are! I hope you stay nice & cozy with good kitty company…and QVC, of course. :-)
Let’s keep our fingers crossed about power supply. I am keeping everything charged up in case we have to go without at some point.
    Keep well, warm & happy!

    Hi Nicola,
Great to hear from you. I adored the story of your dad’s straw hat!! I bet the snowman loved it, though, so it was worth making him grumble over :)
I walked past a snowman today that was about 6 feet tall but he was leaning back! In profile he stood at a 45 degree angle..I’ll have to wander out tomorrow and see it he’s still upright.
Chrissie does look like me but she’s overtaken me in height as you can see in the first pic. Tom has, too, but they are still very much my little babies.
    Keep cosy!

    Hi Catherine
Love the photo’s. I too live on a very steep hill-really dangerous, just managed to get out as we have 4×4’s-although me not driving!!Lexi loving snow too, she can’t understand why it’s sticking to her fur!
My Daughter has her “Christmas Do” tonight-don’t think she’ll be going there.
Just watched QVC all day yesterday and ordered the TSV on auto delivery-love Yankee Candles.
Hope you manage to get out soon although more snow to come I understand!!
    Take Care

    Hi Catherine,
Please could you ask Ian and Leyla for Steiff to make a Miniature Schnauzer masterpiece like Jackie the Australian Shepherd Puppy and Lumpi the Golden Retriever puppy! That would be a Steiff dream come true!
    Thanks.

    Hi Mum!
Thanks for your little messages on here. I’ll be giving you a ring in a bit.
You should see our snow people now..looks like they are taking a bow as they have kind of softened and bent over with him leaning his head on her shoulder!
One of our neighbours has a snowman with a little withered carrot…it’s not on his face!
Love you, ma. Chat in a little while.

    Hi Isla!
Thanks for your comment..somehow it’s ended up in this blog but I think it may have been intended for the Steiff section so I will also post this there with your original message in case you may look out for your comment there and wonder where it is…hope that makes sense?
I will email Ian and Leyla with your request, which I think is a lovely one.
I hope you enjoyed the Steiff show last night and the ones we have coming up today, too.
    Keep well & keep warm!
    Love Catherine x
