Well, I did it! Week one of Christianne Wolff’s The Body Rescue Plan detox was completed on Tuesday, and I must say week two is much easier, as you are allowed a few extras in small amounts such as oil to cook with carbs and bananas. I have been very pleased with my Nutri Ninja purchase which has enabled me to make some delicious breakfast smoothies, with one or two notable exceptions!
My favourite so far was fresh mango, strawberry and pineapple with plenty of hidden greens. This morning we had strawberry and pineapple with fresh baby spinach, frozen banana and frozen berries… verdict?… Pretty good.
You might be wondering why I didn’t call the blog ‘smoothie’ operator, which would have been just as appropriate. The reason is that, since purchasing the Lulu Guinness Today’s Special Value before Christmas, we have the radio on over breakfast every morning and listen to Smooth radio.
It’s really great to hear some of the old songs that bring back so many memories. Some remind me of when I was a club DJ in the West End of London, about forty years ago, and others of the fitness classes I used to teach throughout most of the 1980s. They do play modern songs too, but only the melodic ones.
Back to the detox, and is it working?
Well, some of the benefits are meant to be improvements to your skin and hair but, as I already have a pretty decent diet (apart from a few naughty treats), I probably won’t notice much difference. Just as an aside, do remember it is the Elemis Today’s Special Value this Sunday (which unfortunately I will be missing as I am off after today until 2nd March, except from popping in on Tuesday to record some pieces for QVC’s other channels with Simon Wilson).
Anyway, back to the detox again. My main reason for doing it was to kick-start a bit of weight loss and, although I’m not one to hop on the scales every two minutes, I can report I dropped three pounds in the first week and my stomach feels flatter and less bloated, so I’m pleased with that. I’m only aiming to lose just over a stone as, at my age – and to quote French ladies: ‘You have to concentrate on your face or your behind’, and I think my face is definitely more important in the business I’m in.
Well, it’s Valentine’s Day on Tuesday and, apart from my TV date with Simon Wilson, it will be pretty low-key as Chris is working. It will also be the last day of our detox, so no heart-shaped chocolate cake for us this year!
I keep saying ‘we’ regarding the detox. Although Chris has stuck to the food plan with me (which has been a huge support) and has also kept off the red wine (purgatory for him) he did confess to making himself a cup of coffee after I leave for work each day!
No chocolates for us then, but you still have a chance to win a box of luxury chocolates if you sign up to the newsletter on my website www.juliarobertsauthor.com before midnight on Sunday – somebody has to win them and they will be posted out Monday so should hopefully arrive in time to enjoy as a Valentine’s treat.nToday, as well as Fashion on Friday at 5pm with Yong Kim followed by Aurora at 6pm with Dominic (aka he of the rich voice), I shall be presenting at 7pm to cover for sickness – get well soon Chloe.
I don’t mind a bit as it’s Becca, the brand of the Today’s Special Value today – although, judging by the amount of stock that has already gone as I write this, I’m not sure if it will be in my hour. If you haven’t tried Becca yet, it is my favoured range for illuminating the skin.
I hope you all have a good weekend and keep warm if the promised sub-zero temperatures hit us,
