Size-wise? Sneaky Peeks (Antthony, Red Carpet & Feb Pick of the Month) plus snowy pics!

PatchThis week -

– Stuck on Sizing? Your shout!

- More Sneaky Peeks including Antthony designs & Sarah Chapman

- Scenes from the sofa and Big Freeze fab pics

- Plus Mr Selfridge – fascinating new period drama reviewed!

Ahhh! Poor Patchy in the Snow! Isn’t this crying out FOR A CAPTION!! Comment below and tell me what you think she’s saying! (and yes you can guess what obvious ones I’ve had so far!) lol.

I may just send out a little pressie to any that blow my socks off!

Sneaky peeks continue in just a sec with a little glimpse of the fab new Antthony TSV coming in Feb! First – a request for your feedback! It’s only a quickie – just a few lines pls! –

Q. -At what point did you first decide to buy our fashion?

Q.-What’s been your experience of getting your sizing exactly right – depending on what we tell you?

Q.-What MOST helps you choose which size to buy?

I raised this topic on my Facebook this week, and got over 160 responses! Incredibly emotive topic for sure! And I’m passing them on to the powers that be, so do leave me a comment below. Over 70 people stated specifically that they depend upon the presenter saying what size we’re wearing, versus what high st size we are. Plus many more mentioned the models heights etc, as well as us giving sizes early. Glad you’re loving our fashions though, too on the whole!

AntthonyOne of your faves has got to be the adorable Antthony – well he’s back mid Feb! Just for us, he’s done this little sneaky peek

Can’t wait to see him again! I’m lucky enough to be getting two shows this time!

HANDY HINT – (we used to sell a book by that name years ago, I swear!) – don’t forget that whether you love Antthony’s range, or Lenny’s, or whoever, do take time to check online for web bargains!

Our website often features many last clicks, web only and clearance bargains that won’t be back on air, at superb prices! Like this

SNOW JOKE! Well, how have you coped in the snow?

Baloo– It wasn’t just Patchy (above) up to her nose in it and getting snow- covered this week.

Heavy falls stopped my lovely Lolly coming down from Bath to see me last weekend. Boo.

No daughter, but she sent me this pic of her puppy Baloo to cheer me up – what an action shot eh!!

Top marks to her man Nick who took it – fab stuff. And speedy recovery to poor Baloo who had an infected dew claw op this week too.

Poor grandpog!

Dog and snowballman– Doing my bit for the bunnies! I began a snow-man at dusk this week, but after 15 mins of increasingly heavy snowball-rolling, I was puffed out! I decided I’d done my bit – leaving some fresh grass uncovered for the wildlife, and thinking I’d continue the next day! Yeh right. Even Gracie was not impressed!

Mind you, I did once make a wicked snowboy and girl – modelled after my Brad and Lauren (#tooMuchTimeOnMyHands!) Wouldn’t mind, but they were 20-odd at the time! Lol. What’s the best snowman you’ve ever helped build?

Sunset snow sheep– Here’s this week’s Mat Trim effort – couldn’t resist this lovely sunset – and the sheep even posed for the camera! Hehe!

I tried to do what Mat our photography expert says, and keep to thirds. Hmm – must try harder I’m sure!

Anyway If you didn’t hear me mention before, Farmer Simon says (‘simon says’ – hah!) that it’ll be early April for the lambing. Watch this space!

Out of window

From the sofa Sofa

And ‘scenes from the sofa’ – best place to be! I had a lovely Sunday afternoon sitting snug and cosy in my lounge – looked one way, saw snow falling out the window. Looked another and saw Prof Brian Cox on my telly telling me about sciency stuff – cooool! And looked to the right and there was my glowing stove keeping me and Daisy dog lovely and warm. What are your favourite ‘scenes from the sofa?’! During the snowy weather in particular? If you post them to me via Twitter, I may even include some next week! @debbieflint ! Or any clever or fancy snow men etc!?

WintertraxBY THE WAY – some Big freeze must haves for you – Wintertrax – coming into their own in this weather – grippy attachments for your shoes – super!

Emu’s– here is me giving them a test run in the field just after the deepest snows! They really are water resistant!

And so glad I got some of Phil Parker’s Winter Tyre Grip spray (500489)– look out for it and stock up the next time it’s in!

Have you any experiences of a QVC product helping you out of a sticky situation during the cold spell?

Comment below and tell all!

Meanwhile keep warm – at time of writing we’re due for some more snow, but this time next week it should all be gone – fingers crossed!

BLOOPER – Have you seen the trailers? We have a new show on our schedules, called ‘Inside QVC’ – designed to reveal behind the scenes backstage goings on and lots of info about what we’re all about! So how fitting that this week’s blooper is one of our newest staff additions undergoing the jewellery initiation…! Lol!

– jo the new fm’s wrist in jry show, poor Jo! I would have had a soda-stream blooper this week but couldn’t use the clip! If you have any QVC bloopers on Youtube, do send them to me and – if appropriate! – I will put them up on here! Next week I’ll feature the blooper from the recent Kipling show – what can you put down YOUR bra?! Lol.

Happy Birthday!SNIPPETS What else happened this week? Here are some other brief updates for you!

The youngest of us five siblings, Glenn, the professor (!) and I went to a lovely garden centre café for a celebratory lunch on this week – it was jam packed!

Woodcote Green in Wallington – snow obviously doesn’t put off us Surrey garden lovers!

Sis at beauty bash– Second eldest below me is my sis Linda, our Red Carpet Manicure guest. Did any of you go meet her and the team at their stand this week when we had our annual Beauty Bash? Craigy went, and Julia, and Catherine. Not my turn this year. But if you were one of the lucky randomly-selected beauty customers to be invited, hope you enjoyed it! Leave a message below!

And red alert – 19th feb Red Carpet tsv – the long-awaited French Manicure version! Easy to wear your own colours on top of it too (remove using non-acetone and red carpet long lasting gel stays fresh and shiny underneath too!). Can’t wait – I’ll be launching it! That’s a second sneaky peek – another below!

Facebook saying– And finally, another ace facebook saying – never a truer word.

I wish I could instil this sentiment in the minds of certain people I know.

The power of the mind and all that! The proof is out there.

As Wayne Dyer says – whether you think you can, or think you can’t you’re right!

What’s your experience of that?

Sarah Chapman eye productFOOTNOTES

OK, time for a ‘heads-up’s about upcoming on air specials

– February’s beauty product of the month will be Sarah Chapman’s Eye recovery

– her award winning Skinesis range features one of my fave day creams with spf15 and gorgeous smells, so looking forward to helping to bring you this product for eyes with no p and p for the month of Feb!

WATCH – TV FOCUS – I did a little Sunday night telly survey on facebook this week – and the relatively new period drama ‘Mr Selfridge’ came out top of most lists – it is sooooo good! I love the early facts about the creation of Selfridges in London – eg how he was first to ask for fragrance to be located near the front doors – to mask the smell of horse manure from the road! And there began a tradition! Hah! You’ll still be able to get catch up TV if you’re quick – otherwise the third ep is this Sunday eve – but set it to record, then you can watch it when it suits you! Hard to give a mark for an on-going series, but looking like an eight out of ten so far!

Matthew McConaugheyAnd finally a footnote to a footnote – I usually add movie recommendations, BUT – Bad movie alert – here’s one to avoid!

I think I’ve found Matthew McConaughey’s worst turkey! His Dirk Pitt in the 2005 film ‘Sahara’ was too smarmy for words, and mauled the memory of one of my all time fiction heroes from author Clive Cussler.

I’ll stick to reading the books in future.

 – Is it only me? Or did you agree if you saw it on telly recently? I loved him in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, but what with Fools Gold and now Sahara, he’s gone wayyyy down on my list! It’s a two out of ten for me, sadly! Ditched out after half an hour it was so bad. So avoid at all costs – so bad I haven’t added a trailer – just a link to a youtube family guy spoof of him talking about how bad his films are!

Liz Earle TSVFOCUS QVC – finally a little look at the week ahead – Do watch out for my Sunday 4pm and 7pm ybf shows as Stacey is back!

By popular demand I’ll not only begin both hours without full makeup on, and do what she does and apply through the show, I’ll take it off at the end with that day’s Liz Earle TSV! Or the Cleanse and Polish, if the Today’s special value from Liz has sold out! Join me this Sunday (27th).

Plus next week – an unusual Relax Chair is Monday’s product of the day – I have it on an evening airing. And I’m looking forward to seeing Sarah Shurety again for the Feng Shui show on Wed 30th at 7pm, when I’ll most likely be wearing that day’s TSV a knit dress from Tiana B! Here’s the link to our home page TV Guide, on which you can go up to four weeks ahead to find your fave shows, and a week ahead to see who’s presenting them.

- I'm off to see the X Factor tour in Brighton on Thurs 31st!

And hopefully to pop by to say hi to our lovely Carmel and her new baby Flynn – cool name – nearly spelt the same! Lol!

Here he is in an adorable pair of bootees Alison Keenan sent along! Soooo cute!

All good with Carmel and her little son – he’s a month old now – how time flies!

I should know – mine is 26 in March! Good god!

Best wishes Debs X

Did I hear you mention a 400mls size of Decleor’s Gradual Glow coming in May? I love this product, keeps a lovely healthy glow throughout the year and moisturised skin. Is this what you use?

Hi Debs! Love your blogs – so interesting, witty and fun (just like you) :) As I’m sure you’ve had loads of feedback about sizing, I would just like to add a bit please. I have always wanted to buy a decent coat from QVC from the Centigrade range, or any other, and especially Dennis Basso, but the XS is always far too big on me – on the tape measure I’m 33-26-33, and wear an 8/10 top and a 6/8 jeans/trousers. I’m 5ft 7″ and just over 7stone, so you can see I’m sadly pretty slim. Can the main ranges please make smaller sizes – also in jeans? Love Diane Gilman but again, even the size 8 or XS jeans are too big on me. You have fab clothes at QVC and I’ve been a member almost since it started, and buy all of my skincare (J Williams) bath/body care (L’Occitane, Philosophy, Decleor) and most of my Xmas & Bday presents from QVC due to the quality and prices, so I would like to add ‘fashion’ to the list too. Hope I haven’t bored you, and thanks for inviting us to comment on this subject. By the way, you are looking fab these days (you did before too x) :)

What great photos of your pogs and grandpog — they certainly look like they love the snow. I love looking at it and being in it when its fresh but not when its turning to slush or struggling to get to work in the snow.
I too am loving Mr Selfridge — I do so like settling in front of the tv to a good period drama. Think it started in childhood and Upstairs Downstairs etc. That wood burner and Daisy look great to snuggle up to.
I’m hopefully out this evening with friends for a meal and then Les Mis. My second time —-Hugh Jackman YES PLEASE
hope you have a great week

Hiya Debbie – all the comments already raised about sizing with QVC are great – but please could I make an appeal on behalf of all us ‘skinny Malinks’ – size 6′ es? The grass really isn’t greener on the other size for us… QVC do Up to XXL yet not down to a true ‘XS’ ie. size 6. So often the measurements quoted for XS are more like an 8-10. Eg: just listening to details of Trinny and Suzannah ‘XS’ jersey stretch dress code: 103 018 with 37″ boobs! For a jersey dress??! Come on – that just doesn’t make sense – at least if that’s XS – how about an XXS to reflect a 32/33 inch measurement. – There are so many Fantastic garments on QVC but they are just too big. Being naturally stick thin and bony is no joke – I don’t live on water and lettuce – eating XXL portions makes no difference – I can’t do anything about my genes Deb – but QVC could do something about their jeans if they really wanted to. Thanks for listening -keep up the good work fighting our corner on the whole topic. ( You wont remember me but i I met you at the Gatineau workshop day a couple of years ago – I was the one who told you how I used my Boots 12x magnifying mirror to do my makeup and you were so warm and friendly. Love your shows). Warmest wishes amajo x

I was at the beauty bash on Thursday 24th January, I did stop and say hello to Linda I cannot believe how alike you sound she even has your lovely laugh. Please say thank you to QVC for allowing me the chance to go. My lovely daughter lives in Islington and I live in Birminghma so I was also able to see her so it was a double chance to celebrate.

Had some snow pics but too boring this year to share, not enough snow! ‘Mr Selfridge’ appears to be a bit of a hit and miss at the mo, some eps are good and others have a few boring bits in them. But I blog them anyway! ha. My friend would ‘kill’ me if I didn’t write something about Jeremy Piven every ep!

    Hello Debbie,
Top marks for a very informative and interesting blog, thank you
for giving so much of your time. With regard to your request for
feedback regarding the fashion shows, I would just like to say that sometimes I get very impatient with certain presenters who simply go on and on about how we could wear it and what to team it up with, which is fine if only they would give us sizes first,
I have missed out on items sometimes simply because I don’t know
what size to buy, as obviously the sizing changes from designer to designer. I hope this will help, but have to say I really think QVC is second to none in other aspects.
    Thank you again Debbie.

    Reply with regards to “Size-wise?”
I am enjoying the fashion on QVC. My favourite lines at the moment are Yong Kim and Trinny & Susannah, with jeans from Diane Gilman.
With Yong Kim I can follow my high street size and never be disappointed. With Trinny & Susannah, again I am following the high street size, but took the advice from the ladies when they said if you have a larger bust go up one size. I do tend to choose the garments with a bit of stretch.
For the jeans, I had a few failed attempts in the beginning, but now know the size I feel most comfortable in (although the size I choose is different depending whether there is a zip fastening or an elastic waistband).
I mix the clothing from QVC with designer pieces (Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Prada etc) that I purchase from a boutique shop – they all work well together.
Would QVC consider selling exercise wear? I like the ranges by Sweaty Betty and LuLu Lemon.

Hey debs, i’ve been buying clothes from qvc for years, the top favourite from the begining has been kim & co but i have many favs. I do have a few issues with some of the sizings, such as “women with control” jeans sizes dont seam to bear any relation to their other trousers. Also dont get the limit on chest sizes on trinny & susannah’s clothes, they kept saying they were for bigger busted women, i’m 50″chest & usually 2XL fits but only the polly dress came close on 3XL 49″ the rest of 3XL sizes smaller. You are the only presenter i feel gives reliable sizing. Whilst i think Joyce is lovely – great skin & lovely face, great legs, she is offen put in a size that is 1 down from what she should be put in & it then looks too tight & makes her look larger which is unflattering & unfair to her & the clothes as can put you off purchase. I’ve forgotten the label but you had tsv shows recently for control underwear ( the one that had the sleeves or bra with sleeves & set of 3 sparkle bras) i’m 50″ chest & unfortunately 42″ waist 48″ hips if cami fits chest its too big for waist & wont hold in.
Sorry to make such a fuss but i’m larger nowadays due to ill health & mobility issues whereas i used to be slim & fit so its embarrassing & hard enough to live with without this extra hassle.
Whinge over, love you blog & blooper & hugs to your lovely pooches. Cant wait til you & Linda do tsv on 19th- diarised in my phone. Finally managed (i think) to send Linda a couple of pics of my xmas long nails thanks to you, her & RCM via facebook. Keep up the good work- love your mad humour:-):-)

    Great blog Debbie!
Sizing? (You’ll wish you never asked!)
I am one of the larger brigade, being anything from an 18 to a 28 depending on maker/style/cut. I am also 5’9″ with long body and arms. This whole XS to 3XL is not uniform across one range, let alone all the ranges QVC do! First thing to say about a product is the size in inches around the chest, waist, hips, neck to hem measurement and sleeve length. Only then can I decide if I should get and what size I need. How about reading from largest to smallest too? By the time presenters get to 20/22 or 2/3XL and decipher what that actually means, I’ve missed it! Particularly on OTO! It is helpful for presenters to say if we need to go up or down, but measurements and amount of stretch is best of all.
    Sorry – rant over.
    Bless young Jo! Funny!
Loving Mr Selfridge! Very entertaining and interesting fictionalisation of a fascinating era!
Might have to try Sarah Chapman’s Eye Recovery. ‘Walking’ dog in snow, ice, wind, rain is making my relatively young looking eyes all crinkly! Crinkly eyes not Crinkly Bottom thank goodness! My nails are drying out and pinging off too – in and out of gloves to fasten dog lead, harness, give treats…
Cannot wait for the new Red Carpet French Manicure! It needs to come with the bottles of pink and blue lotions and nail removing pads though, as I have gone through my originals now!
How cute is baby Flynn??? Adorable!
As for thinking. I probably do more than is good for me lol! As you know Debbie, I am always looking for the silver lining, the good traits in others, the potential, the small achievements and the small joys! It is not always easy to choose that frame of mind, but it sure makes life more pleasant and attracts more pleasantness and pleasant people into your life!
On that happy thought, bye for now and thanks for the joy and warmth you radiate! x

Comment for Feng Shui guest, Sarah:
Several years ago, my life fell apart – father died, partner walked out two days later (nice!), then had a legal battle which took all my savings and nearly my sanity!!! Got given a book called ‘Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui’ which I followed to clear the clutter, mentally as well as physically. And boy, did it work! Now, whenever an element of my life (career, friendships, inner peace etc) is somehow ‘blocked’ I automatically look round my house to see where the clutter has accumulated, and get to work to clear it, whether that means just tidying or taking stuff to a charity shop. Anyone who’s ever had a skip delivered knows that wonderful feeling when you’ve filled it and it drives away – well, that’s the feeling of ‘release’ you feel when you clear your clutter.
Two other quick things which work (I promise). Every few months, move 29 items and clarity will come into your life: secondly, place eight silver coins (I use 10p pieces) under your doormat as it encourages wealth to find you (I got promoted, won competitions and even found a £5 note in a fleece I bought from a charity shop!).
I’m no follower of fung shui but the suggestions in the above book have truly worked for me, and continue to do so.

Debbie. Watchingyou on Tiana B. Ok understand the need to standardise length of dresses to 39″ to satisfy those who are lucky enough to be a normal height. However there are still a large number of women today who are 5’4 or under and who loved Tiana B because they did shorter dresses. Now have had to give up as do not want dresses which reach way below my knee. Please can ~QVC bear in mind this with Tiana B. Please.

absolute pleasure to give you the chance to air your views on our giving sizes earlier. I can assure you the powers that be are very much listening out to what you guys want, and all of our presenter feedback to them from you is going into the pot!
glad you’re happy apart from that!
Anyone else reading this, able to get online or onto the app, just to let you know that you can see all the sizing there, if you’re happy to follow each item as we show it – specially on the app, where tapping the ‘home’ button immediately updates to the ‘on air now’ item so you dont even have to key in the number!
Will have to do some sort of tutorial for those that still dont know!
Anyway Gwen, it’s been lovely to hear from you – do feel free to come back again – always nice to know what you think!

What an inspirational list you’ve given us – and I have to say, you’re very typical of many people who do exactly the same. Or almost the same – like team QVC items up with New Look or Primark! lol! (Me included!)
Seriously – so glad you’ve done what we hope every regular shopper will do – and found the sizes you know you are in each range/ type of fabric etc and stick to it.
Will pass on your thoughts and request!
thanks so much and do – as I keep telling everyone!- come back again!

If not do feel free to leave me a nice long testimonial saying more about what you love about it – I’ll be asking on the latest blog w/c 4th so do add it there if you like!
    Again – thanks so much!
best wishes and will look out for you!
