In 2003 my father’s Sunday Mail was delivered and there was a classic compilation delivered with the paper. Hayley’s version of Pokarekare Ana was on it. We had brought my mum home from hospital knowing that she did not have many days left and played the album to her. When Hayley’s track was played mum’s eyes lit up and now whenever I hear this song it reminds me of my mum in a special way, not with sadness but knowing that she loved that track and all her family were with her. She died on 31st August 2003, my husband’s birthday. I still play that track with fond memories, not with too much sadness but knowing it was something we both loved and appreciated together. Thank you Hayley.
