Simon’s present, Palace’s lucky charm and upcoming TSVs

24

Notebook 1 Notebook 2I hope you all enjoyed the final Butler & Wilson show of the year last Sunday. For once, I think Simon enjoyed his present…let's hope he will be able to make notes on lots more ideas for his collections.

It is the same style notebook my family bought me for Mother's Day earlier in the year and I compiled the entire idea for my novel in it, so I hope it gives him similar inspiration.

I got home from work in time for dinner and then made the first of the two Christmas cakes I do each year. The first is the family one where we all stir and make a wish so it had to be done Sunday when we were all around. Monday I soaked it with brandy and wrapped it up and set about making the second one for backstage. All done now apart from the marzipan and icing of course.

L'Occitane - 203173On Tuesday night my beloved Crystal Palace were playing West Ham. We have two season tickets and Dan gets his coaching staff ticket so Chris was able to come too. We were all pleased as Palace haven't lost this season when Chris has been in the stadium and true to form we managed a 1 – 0 victory. I'm trying to persuade him he wants to go again on Saturday!

I will be rushing from Selhurst Park to Chiswick Park as I have the final showing of the L'Occitane TSV at 10pm…assuming they have bought enough stock to last the day. My sample had the Almond Shower Oil in it, one of my favourite L'Occitane products, and the Sweet Almond hand wash, which is being discontinued. Great for gifting or stockpiling.

Bibi Bijoux - 302040Talking of TSVs I am launching the Bibi Bijoux TSV at midnight tonight, which is why I have done this a day earlier than usual. It is one of Maxine's 'balls' bracelets but this time with the addition of crystal charms – very pretty. I think Ali Young might have been wearing the matching necklace on air last night if you spotted it and liked it. Hopefully I'll see a few of you later on.

Tomorrow's Fashion on Friday is EMU…so difficult to choose Julia's Pick as I own four of the seven styles in the show, but in the end I chose the Echidna.  A lot of the lines are on Easy Pay and with cold weather around the corner it's the perfect time to buy.

Wilfy had his second jab today and doesn't seem to have any after effects – he is sleeping on my knee at the moment! I am still waiting for my test results so will put it on next week's blog

Have a great weekend.

Love,

Julia xx

    Hi Julia,
Glad your football team won again.
I did not see what you gave Simon as his present, I must have been out when the show was on. I am sure he loved it.
Wow you have been busy with the Christmas Cakes, that is my favourite cake, apart from Chocolate Cake, in fact I rarely eat cake, dont like anything too sweet.
So glad Wilfy is okay, bless him, he is gorgeous.
Looking forward to the L’Occitane show. I do like there handwash, well in fact most of there products.
Heidi had to cancel operation as the hospital needed to know the lay out of the house in order to help her get around afterwards, and she was due for a preop appointment to be assessed, so they said it would have to be when she was in her new house, nothing as yet, found some suitable but Landlord’s did not want a dog, mind you he is so well behaved and never left on his own. But what can you do if they do not want them. She has started packing up a lot of her things, suitcases, boxexs, plants, lawnmower down to Mum’s for storage. I dont mind, I just want to see them settled.
    Enjoy your show’s.
Take care and hope your results come back okay.
    Love Jean XX

    Hi Julia
Really enjoyed the last B&W shows of this year, shame we have to wait until Feb for Simon to be back on out screens.
Can’t believe it’s almost Christmas, I baked my Xmas cake two weeks ago curtesy of the recipe you posted a long time ago :-) hope you have received my Xmas card I posted :-)
Looking forward to the L’Occitane TSV, going to try the almond oil for the first time tonight, will let you know what I think.
    Have a nice weekend.

    Hi Julia
This is really a response to last week’s blog. So pleased that you have found your new home. It is a wrench when the children finally leave home, it is good to be needed but you know that your children have the security of a loving up bringing which will stand them in good stead. It is quite strange making a home without their presence but oddly exciting to build a different type of nest for the two of you. I wonder where you will be settling, maybe in the beautiful Chilterns where we have excellent road and rail connections to all parts, particularly London. We have lots of media, musical and stage folk living quietly and anonymously in our midst.
I hope and trust that your health continues to improve.
    Best Wishes
    Carol

Loved your presents for simon julia. A great idea and one that can be used for a few people I know!!!
Your Xmas cakes sound like a great tradition and one that is lovely for the family to bring you all together. Don’t know how you manage to do everything at this time of year, and have another house move on the crass for January. Glad Wilfy has had all his injections. Still need to get Elsa done as she can’t go out really till they are done. Though I did a dumb thing and opened the bathroom window and she got out! Can’t believe what a small space they can get through. Luckily she came back in quickly.
She is asleep on my new fleece jacket, hampering my typing so there might be a few spelling mistakes!!!!
Hope you get all sorted for Xmas soon.
    Much love julia Diane xxx

    Hi Julia,
Glad to hear you got the Christmas cakes done – where do you find your energy?! Good for you though.xxx
I didn’t see you on the B&W show with Simon, I would have loved to but the day ran away with me and I didn’t get a chance to watch any t.v. until much later. I bet you both had fun!
Everything crossed you get your results soon – you are looking fantastic so am hoping all is well.
I’ve popped a Christmas card in the post to you.
Finally, don’t feel bad on chasing up your house move, in previous moves it was only when I or my partner picked up the phone that things seemed to get done!
    TAKE CARE,
    Beth XX.

    Hi Julia,
Just a quick message to say I often hear you mentioning that you get puffy eyes, so do I, like you my favourite eye treatment is Decleor Hydrotenseur it is the only thing which works on my puffy eyes. We are supposed to give it a break which I can’t manage for more than a day until I discovered Bare Minerals firming eye cream, creams never suit me but this one is just the job to use while taking a break from Decleor it really does work, you may have tried it but if not give it a go.
    Love
    Maggie

    Hello Jean
Sorry to hear that they have cancelled Heidi’s op but it s probably for the best in the circumstances. I hope they find somewhere nice to live soon. We have started with a little bit of sorting the garage out but no real packing yet …. weird to think we’ll be out of here in a month!
My results were good …. I got them last Friday and it is another 65% improvement …. the levels are minimal now but I still have th get to virtually zero before I’m classified as in remission, but very pleased as still heading in the right direction.
The L’Occitane TSV sold out before my show but we did have a fab OTO!

    Hi Alana
So pleased to hear you are using my Christmas cake recipe – I really look forward to cutting into it on Christmas Day tea time … yummy!
I haven’t started opening cards yet but intend to make a start over the next couple of days – thanks so much for sending me one. I bought some cards today ad the lay behind me in the queue said ‘You’re going to have wrist ache writing that lot!’ ….. nothing compared to signing my books!
I made a mistake with the L’Occitane TSV, it wasn’t the Almond Oil it was the Almond shower gel …. didn’t read the label properly and didn’t open it as I am still using the September TSV one! Hope you realised before you bought it?

    Hello Carol
I know it is time for Daniel to be out there on his own but I will miss having him around. We had thought of the Chilterns but it is too far for the children to come and see us regularly so we have just nudged over the border from Surrey to Berkshire …. assuming it all goes ahead of course!,
My results were good – not quite in remission but hopeful that I can still get there

    Hi Carole
Glad you got your L’Occitane TSV – as I mentioned to Alana, I made a mistake in that it was the Almond shower gel not the Almond shower oil …. I hope you realised before ordering?
I really wish I ad bought those foil bags – unfortunately it will be paper and Sellotape for me …. must get more organised next year!

    Hi Diane
I know what you mean about hampering the typing – once again Wilfy is asleep on my knee and I find myself reaching round him to touch the screen. We are not letting Wilfy out at this house but the other day we forgot to close the bedroom window …. I had to move pretty sharpish I can tell you.
I haven’t really done much for Christmas yet but we are intending to get the tree on Saturday so I guess it will all start then!
House move still progressing just hoping it can all get done in time.
    Speak soon

    Hi Beth
Thanks for sending a card – I will start opening and replying later this week.
I don’t think my solicitor will be a problem, se as been really good in the past but hoping the valuation can get done in time ….. it’s all a bit tight!
My results were good – another big improvement percentage-wise but not quite in remission yet

I would love to make your Xmas cake but cannot find the recipe.
Do you remember when you put it on your blog or could you perhaps email it to me.
Merry Xmas and best wishes for the New Year.

    Hi Julia,
Yes I realised it wasn’t the almond oil before buying the TSV, I decided to go for the floral option. Last night I tried the smaller sample size of the almond oil I had from a previous TSV…… Lovely!!
Just read your new blog, good news about the results! Enjoy your 5 days off.

    Hi Dawn
Only just checking blog replies – you are right it is a crazy-busy time of year for all of us ….. I have posted four boxes of pressies to Scotland (my sister’s family) and one to Nottingham for my mum over the last couple of days … all done now. You probably saw on my latest blog that my results were good – obviously the bear hug did the trick! Thanks so much for your support it means a lot to me.
Hope you and yours have a lovely Christmas too …. is Simbi getting a new mug for Christmas?

    Hi Pauline
It would be too late to make my Christmas cake for this year as it needs three or four weeks for the brandy to ‘do it’s thing’ but I will try and remember to post it November next year so you can give it a try

    Hi Alana
Pleased you realised my error before ordering the TSV but more pleased that you loved the Almond Shower Oil when you tried the sample size you had – gorgeous isn’t it.
Busy few days off but managed time to relax too
    Love
