Let’s remember that it’s not a given, we do have to make new beginnings happen and unlike QVC’s 30 day money back guarantee there’s no guarantee to waft and wave as we start 2017.
How are we all now we are “out the other side” of Christmas? It went quickly don’t you think, was it because it fell on the weekend that it seemed even swifter?
I was on air with you on the Friday and arrived home to Momie and Uncle Arnold and the feeling that now Christmas could begin!
We ate, we drank and we made merry. I had a small (well I thought small!) strop, we played games and ate and drank some more… yes a lovely Christmas was had, albeit a shorter one as I was back on Boxing Day with you.
However each time I came home from work I arrived home to more visitors… so the party feeling continued, it was super sociable and each “window” was seized and made the most of that’s for sure.
The craziness of Pie Face which is a simple game where the unfortunate loser gets splatted in the face with squirty cream! was excellent fun. Tom received it from his godfather who quite correctly thought it would be right up his street and we did have such a laugh playing with it over Christmas.
Mr and Mrs, the card game, was excellent, although Dan and I refrained from playing as during Charades the night before I had become a tad cross let’s just say, so I think we both realised we should step away from the games if we wanted to stay as Mr and Mrs!
Dancing around the room to the wonderful tunes from George Michael with the loved and important people in our life was special so Boxing Day night was a relaxed yet crazy fun evening. Tom loves his god parents so much he apparently whispered in Amanda’s ear ” I could come and live with you, think about it”!!!!
Talking of Tom I must share with you my Christmas presents from him. I was presented with a wrapped and very heavy large box, I opened it and inside was nestling… ME! Tom told me the mask was me… and the black paint he had liberally used was a beard.
What could I say in response..?! Except “wow, thank you darling it is amazing! I love it!”
And yes I do, it’s spectacular and special, a one off! And just goes to show it’s not always about the monetary value… I am however rather anxiously checking my chin in the mirror, what does he know that I don’t?!
Joe chose two books for me, having asked my friend which titles she thought I would like, he ordered them for me as he knows I adore reading and wish I made more time for it. I was thrilled with his sensitivity and thought.
Maddie was determined to buy a new phone case for my new phone she knew I had bought (though stupidly I didn’t check the gigabytes so am struggling without photos and emails on it at the moment). Daddy was sooooo busy leading up to Christmas it fell to me to order my own! She chose it though, I just… paid for it. She’s a clever minx isn’t she! (She assures me that she will pay me back !)
Maddie has had a wonderful run in Dick Whittington, with all our families coming to see her and lots of friends too even my lovely brother who flew in from Singapore to surprise his children for New Year. He certainly surprised Maddie as he came to see her in panto! We have loved her little smiley face in the show and I became quite adept at getting her and her team in and out of their rat costumes as I have chaperoned at the theatre. It was a hilariously funny show with an amazingly talented cast. It’s been full on and she will be so disappointed to head back to “normalness” and school I think.
My beautiful niece Phillipa also surprised her with the sweetest way of asking her to be her bridesmaid… a balloon holding a box with a lovely bracelet and a poem inside. So, we have a wonderful wedding to look forward to and with the most beautiful of brides I have no doubt.
All in all it has been a wonderful time to cherish and spoil one another and step out of the norm and into the magical world of Christmas albeit for just a short time.
And now the expectations of shiny new beginnings and fresh starts is all around us… what will we do? And how will we change? I guess all will reveal itself naturally although to plan a few things ahead and make a few little changes to how one acts, believes and maybe perceives ourselves and each other is worth a little thought.
I spotted the above on the fridge and was impressed by Maddie’s thoughts she had penned… I certainly hope that it is a year full of happy laugh out loud moments, fabulous friends and my special and loved people being happy and healthy and optimistic about it all with me.
I want to thank you all for your continued support here, on social media and on air at QVC. Your kindness to me, to Dan and the children is massively appreciated. May I take this moment to wish you all the specialness of life, and the health to enjoy, appreciate and create wonderful times ahead in 2017.
Let me know what fresh starts you would like to embark upon and maybe we can all inspire each other to make some differences.
Much love as ever,
