I had my hair done today and the first question was “So, are you all set for Christmas?”… and for once, I think I nearly am!!
Previously I’ve always enjoyed a bit of last minute madness but this year, not only do we have a house full which has meant I’ve really needed to get organised, but we had originally asked my sister to come and stay for the weekend of 13th – 14th December so we could go away for a Christmas shopping/birthday celebration weekend. However, having had a three-day honeymoon at the end of July which flew by in the blink of an eye, I thought we might enjoy ourselves more without the pressing need for hunting down gifts!
So, having made sure that most of the shopping was done ahead of time, after school finished on Friday we head off to Cardiff (our old stomping ground) where we had booked ourselves into a fabulous boutique hotel (Cathedral 73, fab place!!) After arriving around 8pm, we checked-in, grabbed a glass of fizz then walked into town to find some food. Of course taking the obligatory selfie en route by the Millennium Stadium.
On Saturday we rolled out of the hotel at an immensely reasonable 1pm!!! The manager grinned at me as we were heading out and told me his Mum was a huge QVC fan “she only has the one channel” he said. I laughed and told him I had spotted the Luminara flameless candles in the fireplace of the rather chic piano bar so had wondered who the QVC fan was… he said they had all had them as Christmas gifts last year and were still going strong (always good to hear)!!
Cardiff as you can imagine was rammed full of Christmas shoppers, but with no need to buy any gifts, we sauntered through the wonderful arcades, slowly drank our coffee and watched the world go by. We also mooched around the German market and generally had a wonderful time. If you follow me on Twitter @Pipalive, you’ll have seen the pics of the boots I saw and shared (I was very restrained and DIDN’T buy them which of course I now bitterly regret) and I also tweeted a pic of an amazing dress made of Christmas tree branches of all things!
Of course, as time does, it totally flew! Not that it mattered because we were rather excited to come home to see the children AND my sister’s gorgeous new puppy Poppy (no, not Poopy)!!
So I hope you are feeling ready for whatever you will be doing over the next few weeks, here’s a happy snap from my family wishing you all a very merry Christmas and to those of you in Wales, a Nadolig Llawen!!
P.S. if you see the Christmas footage where I say I don’t want anything for Christmas, just for everyone to be together, it’s true… But I’ve since seen some amazing fluffy wellies so please Santa, I’d like those… and the Stetson that was there too. I promise I’ll be a good girl!
