Schools out for summer!

10

Hi there,

At last it's the summer and the kids have broken up from school, hooray!!! No more school runs hooray!!! I know lots of parents dread the long six weeks of summer but I have to say I may be mad and feel like I'm loosing the plot sometimes but I absolutely love it. We sang "schools out for summer" at the top of our voices all the way home and stopped off at a local coffee shop, on the way, for chocolate fudge cake, yummy, to celebrate the start of the hols. Its also nice now  that my two are a little bit older they will let me have a little sleep in the morning if I've worked late the night before at QVC, which is great especially if I've been presenting the Zone as sometimes I'm crawling into bed at half four in the morning!

As usual let me know of anywhere you recommend to take the kids this summer, we can all pool our ideas to keep them entertained, no matter where you are around the country it would be great to get some information on where to go. We went to the Space Centre in Leicester a while ago and it was a really good day out, so if you go anywhere worth mentioning definitely let me know.

My sofas As promised I've included with this blog the long awaited photographs of the infamous red sofas! I hope you like them, I must say I am very pleased with them and after all that hesitation sometimes I guess it pays to be a bit bold and thank goodness I'm still in my red phase, long may it continue.

I must say before I go that I keep meaning to mention Susan and her quest for me to chop my hair! It's a bit weird but I'm quite attached to having long hair really and I think I'd find it really difficult to go for the chop. I know it's going against all the rules of fashionability and trends to have long hair as you get older, but I just can't help myself even though I can see little grey ones creeping in there, I just can't do it. The sound of scissors snipping sends me into a frenzy! So sticking with it long for the time being is honestly as about rebellious as I get!

Here's to a great summer, lots of love

    Hi Jilly
Teresa here the “one” that advised you against the red sofas – I have to admit I was wrong and they look lovely.
I agree that long hair can look terrible on an “older” lady but your hair is so beautiful and in such good condition if you “chopped” it off it would awful and besides apart from us knowing you don’t have your ears pieced I think your hair is your “trademark”!
Enjoy the Summer holidays with your children.
    Regards
    Teresa

    Hi Jilly,
You keep your hair long. I do seem to remember you may have had it cut a few years ago and then changed your mind and it was long again! It suits you and it always looks shiny and in good condition.Be an individual do your own thing!!
    best wishes

    Hi Jilly!
Lol I can’t believe I’m on your blog lol! I think your hair is lovely the way it is. Don’t go chopping it if you don’t want to! Just think it would show off your face even more! I know what you mean though about scary hairdressers and scissor happy!!!
Absolutely love the red sofas!! Good choice! Lovely home. Enjoy your 6wks with the kiddies!!
    Take care,

I can totally understand your attachment to your flowing locks; I’m exactly the same. I have always had long hair – longer than yours, if you can believe that – and, despite how many times people tell me to have it cut, I just cannot bear to lose any of it. Even just getting it trimmed is torture for me, just seeing all of that strawberry blonde hair lying on the salon floor!
Love the red sofas. Speaking of which, you sound a bit like me, you have to be really sure about something before making a final decision, you don’t do thinks on impulse. Is that correct?
Well, stay well Jilly. Have a good few weeks with the family. But we still have to work, don’t we?
    Louise.

OH Jilly !!! PLEASE dont ever cut your lovely hair !!!! Ive had long hair for as long as I can remember, been various lengths, from almost waist to shoulders and back again over the years…Dont give in to pressure from ANYONE to chop it as you get older .. its a complete myth that it takes years off !! Quite the opposite in my opinion !! My hair is currently at bra strap length and am aiming to get a few more inches added before my 50th ( YES 50th .. Shock Horror!!) birthday next year. P.S, Dont think of your little greys as greys,… they are natural highlights !.. tinsel in your hair..

Lol Jilly & Kathy I love that ‘tinsel in your hair’ comment! I’ll have to use that one! I agree totally with the other comments…we need to be individuals! Definately don’t cut your hair if you don’t want to Jilly! Wrong choice there!

Hello Jilly, your sofa and chair look fantastic. Brilliant.
I think your hair always looks amazing whether it is up in a pony tail or left free. I had longish hair for years and then had it cut while in college. Then I got fed up of the long bits and had it cut even shorter. I still love short hair simply because I am lazy and it is easy to deal with and dries quickly. Stick to what you are happy with.
Have a great holiday and I hope Taylor’s arm is still well and truly better.
    Hugs
    Tina

    Hi Jilly
You really would look much more attractive with a modern haircut. I did it and I have not regretted it for one moment.
