Say hello to the big day and goodbye to Andi’s Kitchen!

Less than four weeks to the big day! No, not Christmas – my birthday!! Please don’t ask because I’ve stopped counting, and joined the ‘age is just a number’ brigade. Yes, as some of you may know, it’s my birthday on Christmas Day.

I’m often asked if I miss out or get double presents. I only have very happy memories of Christmas and it has always been a time of year I look forward to. But I never felt that I lost out as Mum and Dad went to great lengths to make sure that I didn’t.

Basically, we celebrated Christmas throughout the day and then, at around tea time, I got my birthday presents. Yes, it was a long time to wait between birthdays, but equally you could double up and hope for a big pressie! I’m sure lots of you winter babies know what I mean.

Talking of winter babies, my twins Ali and Jack celebrate their 17th Birthday this week and I must say it gets harder each year for Tracey and I to surprise them – I don’t think just a pair of L plates will cut it!

I hope you enjoyed the last in the series of Andi’s Kitchen with myself and the one and only Andi Peters. After saying his goodbyes, he literally ran out of the studio and drove home to pack, as he is appearing on the ‘I’m a Celeb’ follow-up show on ITV2. The show is filmed in Australia and his plane was leaving early the next morning.

I had a whale of a time presenting the shows with Andi and we agreed to catch up upon his return. The last show featured the lovely Lisa Faulkner with her beautiful recipe book, ‘The Way I Cook‘, which is available with a personally signed bookplate.

We were also joined by Pat (Pat Butcher) and chef Michael from Green Seasons, Christina from Simple Simon’s perfect pies, Nina from New York Delhi and Jilly with Calico Cottage fudge!

A lovely way to end the series – great guests and delicious produce. Unfortunately, Lisa had to leave before the end but we were able to raise a glass in her absence at the end of the show to celebrate a great series – shown in the picture at the top.

15 yearsBefore the Andi’s Kitchen show, I was taken down to see the headmaster – our CEO, Dermot – luckily he didn’t give me a detention, but he did present me with a certificate of thanks and a very welcome token of QVC’s appreciation for completing 15 years service!

In actual fact, in January I’ll be starting my 17th Year! Dermot is one of many who will be starting their 21st in January – living proof that Q Towers can’t be such a bad place to work!

Toby was clearly so impressed by both my certificate and ‘Hawaiian Tan’ that he came and sat beside me as the picture was taken – I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that he was in our lounge in a filthy state – (I haven’t been to Hawaii, I think the colour balance went wobbly on my phone?)

Coming up this week

This Friday I’m launching another Today’s Special Value (TSV) featuring the amazing GTech AirRAM Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. We have featured the lightweight AirRAM before as a TSV and many missed out last time – so it’s really back by popular request.

The demonstrations have to be seen to be believed as the AirRAM creates these neat bales of debris for easy disposal, as you can see above! You can also be sure of a great price! So join myself and Justine Balmer on Friday Night to find out more.

DaleNWillOn Saturday night Will I.T and I will be presenting another great edition of ‘Saturday Night Gifts’, featuring live music from multi-talented singer songwriter KT Tunstall. Plus, my pal Lisa Snowdon will be joining us with a beautiful piece from her stunning jewellery range.

There’ll also be a great competition prize and more great gifting ideas. Please do join in the fun at 8pm!

Just for fun

Just4funThis week’s ‘just for fun’ comp is a photo taken just before the last Andi’s Kitchen show with the lovely and talented June who was asked the impossible:To try and make Andi and I look presentable for the series!

Hope all of your Christmas gift plans are coming together nicely, if they’re not perhaps QVC can help?

Until next time…
Dale x

    Hi Dale,
Happy xmas and a very happy birthday for xmas day! snap! my birthday is xmas day also! so we are both xmas day babies! I was born at 8pm xmas day 1960, so im 53 this year! getting old, I always felt I missed out as a child to be honest, but I normally get lots of presents xmas day or one big thing from my partner stewart, this year xmas will be sad, as we lost our dog charlie on september 27th, when we were on holiday in the usa staying with friends, my charlie dog was taken ill the day after he was put in kennels, the day we flew out to st louis, charlie got taken ill with breathing problems, he was taken to the vets, we recieved a call from my partners father the following day to contact the vets as charlie was taken there by the kennels, we could not get through on the phone, but luckily the vets phoned us, as my parters father had our number, they said that charlie had a tumour on hes liver and bad breathing, they had done all they could for him, oxygen, painkillers, he was not eating or drinking, he was not living, they phoned back in 2 hrs , and said that charlie had got much worse and was not even drinking, so my partner asked the vets to put charlie to sleep, he was 14yrs, 7 months and one one week old when he was put to sleep, i just cried the whole of the holiday, but i had to get through the holiday, the worse was coming home and seeing charlies basket etc there, we had charlie cremated, im going to do a memorial garden for my charlie, ive got 3 david austin roses, a bible memorial book and a cross memorial and an angel solar light, we will scatter hes ashes after xmas now, charlie loved xmas, he could even open up hes own presents!, we will start to look for a rescue dog in the new year, but xmas this year will be so sad without my beloved charlie, i had him since he was 8 wks old, anyway i wish you a very happy xmas, birthday and all the very best for 2014, im looking farward to ordering lots of things in 2014 from qvc, such good value and wonderfull service you provide there at q towers! all the vey best chrisitne brailsford
