Hello, welcome to my first blog for QVC!
So, you may be asking yourself who is the new-ish girl on the block? I joined the QVC team in 2015 and more recently you will have seen me presenting on QVC’s wonderful little sister channel QVC Style, which launched live on air for one hour a day on Freeview channel 36 in October 2016. I am delighted to host the show every week on various days.
I absolutely love the Style channel as it is all about fashion, new trends and finding that perfect piece of clothing or that accessory to suit you. We spend hours with our stylists and models putting together great looks and then showing them to you – and hoping that you will love them too!
I’ve been doing this all my life; as a young girl I helped my mum in her clothing shop – she was a knitwear designer – and I loved putting together outfits, looking at designs and fabrics and creating new looks. Fashion for me is about being playful and trying new ideas, whether that’s new hairstyles, make up or clothes. You may already have noticed that about me from the many different hairstyles and looks I have on the show.
As you can tell from my accent, I grew up in Scotland right beside the famous Loch Ness. When I wasn’t in the shop I was absolutely passionate and utterly besotted with horses and anything horsey from Thelwell to our lovely little old pony called Sheik. In fact my love of horses led me to become a professional horse trainer for many years.
Nowadays however, I have replaced four legs for a new kind of trusty steed, my bike!
Now spring has sprung you’ll find me riding my bike, jogging or hanging upside down in the air doing acrobatics, which is something I only started doing this year. It’s great fun and certainly keeps you fit!
Fitness is a big inspiration for one of my favourite looks – Athleisure and Sports Chic: the look is about fashion and function and blending basic activewear with everyday fashion. For example take these new gold (metallic colours are huge this spring/summer 2017) trainers from Vionic in the picture on the left below. I put them with a pair of simple wide-fit trousers from Kim & Co, then add a favourite block colour T-shirt in white, red or black and hey presto!
You only need to add one sporty item to create the look. You could also try leggings with Clarks wedges and a little sports jacket then finish the look with one of your favourite bags or a little neck scarf. Avoid wearing baggy old tracksuit bottoms, cheap leggings and big branded logos – remember the chic element to this look ladies.
In the picture on the right, above, I’m going for a different kind of look. The duster coat I’m wearing is a real statement piece; unfortunately this exact one has sold out but this lovely item from Chelsea Muse by Christopher Fink is a gorgeous substitution, it would also go perfectly with these Biba jeans and Clarks wedges.
Well, all that talk of sports has made me quite peckish. I am off to put the kettle on for a cuppa to have with a piece of homemade banana bread – got to treat yourself from time to time, haven’t you?
I’d love it if you joined me on my next QVC Style live show, 17th April.
Until then, enjoy playing with new styles, be daring and try something you wouldn’t normally wear – you might even discover a new you!
