Those of you who've been reading Debbie's blog recently will know that QVC has been running an inter-departmental rounders tournament, helping to raise money for charity and having some fun into the bargain.
I don't know what possessed me to "volunteer" for 'The Talent' team, but it could've had something to do with the lovely Barbara (you know who you are!) twisting my arm!
I haven't played rounders for about 40 years and in truth I was never very good at it – dancing was far more my thing than sport. And I'm not the only member of the family on the team, Babs also press-ganged my son Daniel onto the team – eligible apparently because he's a fitness model on air!
The presenters were well represented by Alison Keenan, Anthony, Craig and Catherine, all lining up alongside guest presenters LJ, Sara Hollamby and Ann Dorrington, plus Ali's son Jack. Things didn't get off to a great start for 'The Talent' with several of us getting out on the first or second ball, but Anthony, Craig, Ann and Sara racked up quite a decent tally before we were all out.
The opposition went in to bat and we brought out our Big Boss Brian, which turned out to be an inspired move. He linked up brilliantly with my boy and between them they took half a dozen scalps. The opposition had a game plan though – they were plying the referee with alcohol which was clouding her judgement on the no balls.
Then it transpired that they'd used 10 batsmen instead of nine – they won by one rounder but I think we should demand an inquiry!!!
Actually it was great fun, but I'm pretty sure I'm on air for the next matches – not that I'll be missed, particularly for my bowling 'skills'!
I notice that lots of you guessed it was me in the 'Guess the Presenter' feature last week – did the hair give it away? Thanks to all of you who took part, and don't forget to have a go at this week's.
Enjoy the rest of the week – I'm off to be a proud mum at Sophie's graduation. Maybe I'll post a picture of her in her gown and mortar board – if she'll let me! Congratulations to all of this summer's graduates!
