My most embarrassing gardening moments

Hello! I hope you're having a chance to enjoy your summer gardens? If you want something to chuckle at while you're sat outside, my most embarrassing gardening moments should do the trick!

So many of my embarrassing moments have been caught on camera, from putting up hanging baskets that come crashing down, to demonstrating a plant's root system, only to discover it had no roots at all! At times like that you just have to say 'hey, that's life!' and get on with it.

One of my most embarrassing moments happened when I was presenting on Grassroots. The show had a gardeners' question time where up to 2000 people would turn up with questions about their plants.

Once a guy brought along a plant called Aquilegia or 'Granny's Bonnet', with three different coloured flowers on it. I started talking about how exciting and unusual this was, and how it was possible for plants to produce different coloured flowers on the same stem. I even recommended that he consider breeding the plant to propagate and sell.

Right at the end he laughed and asked if I had looked at the stalks at the end of each flower. What he'd done was superglue these flowers on! We’d filmed the whole lot and it was broadcast! So that was quite a clever joke and probably one of my most embarrassing gardening moments!

I am having terrible trouble with duckweed. it is spreading like fire in my back garden but not at the front strangely enough! The stuff is everywhere in the flower beds and now taking over the grass. I've tried everything I can think of and cannot get rid of it! Could you possibly advise on how to get rid of it?
