Revealed..the aftermath of festive feasting. Diet Chef, here I come!

Ok, hands up who enjoyed a bit of over indulgence over the past month or so! Me me me! I definately did and the scales have revealed the extent of it;

Diet Chef 001 Eleven stone! Now I know that's not a lot but considering I was two stone less than that when I joined QVC six years ago I think I can do something about reducing it a little.

I did lose a stone with Diet Chef last year and now I'm back on the DC wagon!

I've made friends with people on our Diet Chef forum who are also doing it.

Please join us if you're also looking to lose weight. It's a fun and supportive environment and very welcoming, too.

Now, I've taken some before piccies in the hope that the 'afters' will be well worth exposing myself for!

Waistline; Diet Chef 005 33 inches…

Diet Chef 006 Hips (bum) 41 inches…

Now for the dreaded front, back & side!

Diet Chef 002 Diet Chef 004 Diet Chef 003

For me it isn't totally a 'weight' thing. It's also about getting into the swing of healthier eating habits, portion control, 5 a day fruit & veg and drinking plenty of water. I can't wait to fast forward a month or two.

I really would love to hear your experiences and have you diet alongside myself and other DC'ers on the forum so please feel free to join in!

Much love,

Catherine x

Oh Catherine, how brave are you posting pics(not that you look horrendous or anything like that). You have my admiration though. I can’t stick to a diet if my life depended on it.
    Good luck

    Hi again Catherine
I stood on the scales at the weekend and jumped straight back off them in disgust. I don’t know where all the weight has come from, but I am verging on 13 stone. As I am only 5ft 6 it isn’t great at all. I haven’t got the tape measure out yet, but I only need to look down to see my waistline is far too big. Sadly though, I don’t think it’s just over eating and lack of exercise as the weight has gone on quite quickly and I haven’t changed my diet or been doing less exercise, so I am getting my thyroid checked out by the Doctor. I am going to be getting myself back on the Diet Chef programme regardless though, it’s a healthy lifestyle and I definitely feel much better on it. I also want to be a lot slimmer for my holiday later this year, so I am aiming to join the 3 stone club on the forum.
Also, I just noticed your questions on one of your other blog posts – I am indeed a Christina too.
Good luck & see you on the forum (ChrissiX – same as on Twitter)
    Chrissi xx

    Hello lovely Dee!
Thanks so much for your kind words. Great thing is this doesn’t really feel so much like a diet as you can eat. I ate my own weight in junk food over the weekend!
Looking forward to catching up on twitter. Hope all’s fab with you.
    Love Catherine x

    Hi Chrissi!
I’m glad you are getting the weight gain queried with the doctor. So many people leave things too long before going to check it out. Good luck.
Seeing as you’re going along anyway and you say you’d still like to do Diet Chef why not ask the doc about DC? I’d hate for you to go ahead without mentioning it to the doctor. Always best to ask.
I’m looking forward to fresh steamed veg with dinner tonight..genuinely loking forward to it!
You take care and keep us informed here, on the forum or twitter with how you get on at the doc.
    Love Catherine x

Feel free to join our forum as well and chat to other people, it’s a really nice little online community now. Lots of support.
We can support each other on here, too. Just help me stay away from the take aways!
Wishing you lots of love and motivation for the loss you want to achieve. We can do it!!

    Hi Catherine
Good for you, showing your weight, stats and before pictures.
Been really good lately and weighed myself on Sat and had lost 1lb (10st 5lbs) Got up this morning and OMG!! It said I had put 4lbs on in the space of 2 days – that can’t be right.
Kept to the diet i.e. Saturday: porridge, banana, milkshake, apple and soup with a couple of coffees and loads of water…what’s gone wrong?
Going to buy some new batteries for my scales and wish I had now ‘jumped!’ on them – literally!! Even o/h had put lbs on this morning, so we’re hoping batteries are the answer.
Take care and good luck x

    Hi Dorothy,
Not laughing at you at all, I promise. It’s actually a little tricky to find…if you go back to our homepage ( – the first page that comes up), look down the left hand side of the screen and you’ll see ‘Top Clicks’, under that is a list and diet chef is on it, click on that and the diet chef page comes up with different sections. Click on the one in the middle at the bottom with a big question mark saying something like ‘any questions?’. Bingo! You’re there and can become a member immediately.
I have asked the powers that be if we can make it more accessible but it’s more complicated than I understand or can explain! I’m not too techy, myself, so you’re not alone.
Looking forward to seeing you on there soon, Dorothy.
    Much love,
    Catherine x

    Hi Annette,
It is definately the scales’ batteries!!! Well, I think it has to be..let me know what happens when you change them. It certainly sounds wrong as you’re doing everything right.
Looking forward to a month from now…after piccies! Keep your goal in mind and go by inch loss as well as the scales because the tape measure never lies!
Good luck & love to you both.

    Hi Catherine
Quick update on the battery saga. Duly replaced batteries and weighed myself this morning…no change!
We are now thinking it may be the scales at fault because it seems pretty strange that we have both added 4lbs to our weight at the same time.
Will leave it for a couple of days and see what happens…
    Take care x

    Hi Catherine
keep going, I enjoy your comments on the forum and the support you have passed on to me.
The DC is going well and the weight is coming off nice and steadily now.
I love the forum – it’s so upbeat, I’d recommend it to everyone wanting to lose weight.

    Hello dear Barbara,
Thanks for posting on my blog about the forum. I hope it gives encouragement to others who haven’t yet joined to sign up.
You are an inspiration, you really are. Well done for the weight loss but also for everything else you are achieving right now (like just getting up every day and facing the world!). So great that you have made so many friends on the forum at a time like this too.
I’m looking forward to chatting more to you on there. Stay as positive as you can and one day at a time.
Yesterday I had the sweet potato and coconut, it was soooo yummy! I also had the sausage casserole. I loved it from when I tried it on air and I just wish I had about ten of them, I’m not even a sausagey person but that meal is so gorgeous!
We’ll keep in touch, keep that chin up, Barbara, you’re doing amazing.
    Love & hugs,
    Catherine x

    Hi Annette,
Those pesky scales! I say go back to the trusty tape measure…very strange isn’t it?
Maybe go by how a particular pice of clothing fits..if you have some trousers which are a snig fit maybe try them once a week and see if you begin to notice them loosening?
    Keep me informed!
Much love to you & your hubby!

Oh you brave girl!! Baring all like that, good for you!
And you look fab! But i know what it’s like, it’s how you feel about yourself not what other people say. We can all tell you that you look amazing but it’s your opinion that counts really. If you’re not happy then that’s what matters.
And it’s all positive, lots of fruit and plenty water will only do you good. Everyone’s rooting for you and it’s great to see someone doing it the right way and keeping it healthy!
Keep up the good work chick!
    Lindsay 🙂 x

    Hi Lindsay,
Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. You’re so right about the water & fruit and veg. I have so much more (almost 100% more) of those when I am doing diet chef.
It’s also making me see how easy it will be to stick to healthy eating after I’ve finished. I’m more calorie aware, portion aware, GI aware and so on. I feel educated!
I was naughty after I came off it last year but Christmas kind of threw a spanner in the works! I really want to keep it healthy as you say.
Thanks again & keep in touch.
    Love Catherine x

    Hi Catherine!
I’d just like to say that you look great in the photos you’ve already posted!
I weighted myself at the start of January (on my birthday which made it doubly depressing!) and I was the heaviest I’ve ever been. Thankfully I’ve dropped half a stone since then by just being back into the routine of going to work and eating sensibly and I’m well on my way on getting back down to my fighting weight.
When are we going to see more photos of your progress? =] Can’t wait for the hotter weather when we get to see you on QVC in your flattering summer outfits!
    Regards, Alan.

    Hi Alan,
Thanks for being so kind. It was a brave thing to do and scary but worth it. In two weeks I’ve already lost half a stone!
Well done on your loss and keep it going! You can always join the diet chef forum and chat to other dieters even if you’re not on the system, it’s a very warm community.
I will probably post pics after it’s been 4 weeks. Hoping to see a big difference.
    Chat soon!

    Hi Catherine..
I just wanted to say that I think your wonderful, you are so refreshingly honest and down to earth on tv. I make point of watching qvc when you are presenting a show.Dieting? You must be mad you look fab…but I was watching the show when you were presenting the slim and lift underwear…I bought all items..on the notion that it really works…you see you sold to a cynic.

  20. Catherine Huntley February 7, 2010 at 12:10 pm -  Reply

    Hello Bushra,
Wow, what a kind and fabulous post! Especialy as it’s ‘that time’ of the month when I get all blue for a couple of days. You’ve made me feel all supported and glowy inside!
I hope you like the slim and lift as much as I do. The very firm support ones do take some getting into as I said on air but, to me, totally worth a wriggle or two for the results! Another plus is that I am surely burning off a few more calories whilst working up a sweat getting them on, hee hee!
I must ask you…are you ‘the’ Bushra Nasir? As in the famous teacher? Whether you are or you aren’t it is lovely to be chatting with you here..I’m just nosey as I am a fan.
    Much love,
    Catherine x
