Reminiscing, Gardening Success and The Reveal!

In the MixHello!

Hope you've had a lovely week so far. We seem to be 'forever' clearing and sorting in the Brook household. On another big tidy through I found my mix tapes again which I was very fortunate to produce 17 years ago! Where have those years gone!

I took the opportunity to show the tapes to my children who referred (yet again) to me and the olden days!

The 'In The Mix' album series was such exciting part of my career. It was the most incredible feeling to head into Woolworths with my Mum and see the CDs and cassettes on the shelves high in the charts. It was around the same time I produced a 30 minute mix every evening on Radio 1 for Mark Goodier's show. Then, late on a Friday afternoon, after working on Pete Tong's show, I'd hop on the train back to the Isle of Wight to present a couple shows over the weekend!

After putting the tapes away we proceeded to discuss other changes in technology – including rolls of film for cameras and how we actually did manage to get by without a mobile phone… Ahhhh, they were the olden days….. Apparently!

LiliesOnto more recent times, I'm over the moon with the success of my lilies in the presenter challenge set by Thompson and Morgan! I'm not sure how long it is til they'll flower but so far all is going well…… I just need to ensure the puppies steer clear of them!

Talking of being over the moon, I'm really excited about something really special coming up. It all began on February 2nd this year when I sketched a design of jewellery. It's an idea which had been in the back of my mind for quite a while. I presented the sketch to Doug, our gem buyer – he loved the concept and the ball started to roll.

Well, here we are, 6 months, several prototypes and lots of head scratching later and the design is now complete! I'm thrilled with how the piece has turned out. The quality is outstanding – Doug and I are very technically minded and are really particular about quality and ensuring its the best it can be. I'm a modest person but I must say the sketch has been translated into a beautiful piece of jewellery.

We launch the design in my next 'Destination Gems' show this Tuesday evening (9th July) at 8pm. It will be the 'Gem Reveal' of the hour and I can genuinely say I've never seen anything quite like this before on QVC….. I really hope you like the design!

Would love to have you following me on Twitter, it's lots of fun with plenty of behind the scenes photos and activity! @mecharliebrook

Take care and see you soon.

    Morning Charlie.
Bella enjoyed Charlie Bears last Tuesday [ although Will upset her] by saying Dilly was just filled with stuffing and fluff—-she walked out [ but did come back to see the rest of the show. I’ve taken a few photo’s from the show [ although you MIGHT NOT thank me for one of them.]I’ll put them in the post this week. Then last night Alison Young got a really big growl when she nearly pushed you off the chair although she was happy when I said you were alright. ” What a mad dog I have”!!!!
Will be flitting in and out watching all the T.S.V’s today.
Looking forward to your long awaited design on Tuesday.I’m sure every one enjoy your design and be a big sell out.
All the best to the family.
    Take care.
Debby and a BIG whoof from bella

Hello Debby and whoofs to Bella.
I’ll tell Will off when I next see him and I may have exaggerated the fall when Ali gave me a shove! Thank you for tuning into Destination Gems. I’m so thrilled the design went down so well. I was a little nervous!
Take care and my Cairns send whoofs to Bella!
