Dog2230x180 Last week I had a terrible brush with reality TV – I had been asked to go along to a doggie dinner party with my Labrador (Tynor) to be filmed by Sky One for what I had been told was a DOGumentary – which I suppose by all accounts it was, HOWEVER, I was NOT expecting cameras to be rolling as I walked in the door!!!

Yes indeed, I quickly figured out that this was a type of reality TV concept (I should have known!)… and the doggie dinner party went from bad to worse! Firstly the "hostess" apparently didn't like Labradors, so we were banished to the corner!

Secondly, the food that had been baked for the dogs (chicken liver cake and peanut "pup" cakes) was served AT NOSE LEVEL, but they weren't allowed to touch as not everyone had arrived yet… although we humans were told we were welcome to dig in (bleurgh, chicken liver cake?…not likely!!)

THIRDLY we then had to sing Cum-Bah-Ya (or however you spell it) along to a guitar!!… mortified was an understatement!!!

I think my face will tell you everything when you watch it … I was clearly bemused by mini dogs in dresses and rather neurotic owners! The camera crew told me they caught my face as I tried one of the "pup cakes" ….they said it was hilarious – we shall see!!!

After the ordeal was over, just to top it all off, I was taken into the hallway for a private interview on camera!! Goodness knows what will come out in the edited version – all I can say is, you will be able to tell that I was clearly in a state of shock!

Dog1230x180 I was obviously mixing with the wrong crowd, dresses and party collars? No, not I! Just the one black collar – no sparkles no bows no frills!

So enjoy, all I can tell you is that the series starts on Sky One at the end of October and the episode I am in that we filmed today is on during December! There is absolutely no doubt, that this won't be great viewing ….both for dog lovers and not!… but perhaps I'll keep this episodes date top secret!?!

Oh Susan you’re right I do – I like to think it’s because I’m taking life by the horns ….although I sometimes wonder if it’s vice versa!! Gosh yes Halloween is just around the corner isn’t it? I’ve got both their birthday parties to consider first so I fear it will sneak up on us unannounced!!

    Hi Pipa,
Just been reading this blog and a few of your others and I have to say, these wierd and wonderful things always seem to happen to you!!! He he. Maybe you are just unlucky to get yourself in these situations.
All I can say is that I know how you feel as I am exactly the same, so i’m glad there is someone else out there the same!
After reading your spa anticdote it reminded me of an experience I had once.
I went to a lovely spa for a full body massage with a few other treatments. On being shown around the spa I was introduced to a Male therapist who was apparently doing my treatment! ‘You don’t mind having a male do you’? asked the lady showing me round.
‘No thats fine’ I said – panicking as I was going to be half naked infront of him on a treatment bed. It’s ok I thought to myself, he’s gay, so therefore it’s not deemed as an issue by the spa.
Anyway my treatment commenced and I was really enjoying my treatment with the male therapist (And yes I was topless – although hidden by a towel).
Half way through we were having a chat I asked him where he lived, to which he told me he used to live with his partner but his partner had just moved back to Latvia (Or somewhere similar)however he sounded a bit sheepish when he said this so I just assumed he was a bit worried about divulging that he may be gay.
Then to my horror he started talking a bit more about his partner and telling me about ‘her’ and why ‘she’ had moved back home!!!
I was horrified, as he’d had his hands all over me!!
I remained very calm and did actually enjoy my treatment but I did have to have a chuckle to myself about how I get in these situtaions!!

oh gosh Debbie that’s funny!! I had a massage done by a therapist a few years ago in Canada – he was very professional and I have to say I rather enjoyed the stronger hands!!!! ….I’m sure your chap was used to treating women like you and I …I could take it one step further and tell you that I had a MALE MIDWIFE when Myles was born!!! …I was beyond caring in labour but really didn’t expect to be faced with that at the time!!!!

I didn’t realise both your lovely kiddies were born around Halloween Pipa! Clever! I’m sure you could always do a double Halloween/birthday party…or maybe they’d feel cheated!? And that is hilarious about your male midwife…interesting!! Although I know it’s just the same as being a male nurse…it’s just our silly overactive female minds!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I was searching thru the web looking for the date of this dogumentary as I too will be appearing with my four legged girls, along with a Animal Communicator!! I think you just have to take it with a pinch of salt and as long as you can take the mickey out of yourself it should be fine, I am however dreading the editing lol!!!
as all the dogs will be given voices and a voice to speak, gawd knows what the dogs will be saying :O !!! we shall have to wait and see
p.s. I think I might be right in saying we have a mutual contact ur sister Vicky??!!
