Ready for a few days off

6

It’s been a very busy week for me, which started with a rare night out in Clapham last Friday. I met up with some QVC colleagues, both past and present, for my friend Natalie’s leaving do. She actually left QVC several months ago but it has been quite a challenge finding a date when we were all available, and then she organised it for the night of the England v Scotland World Cup qualifier! And she’s a football fan.

Fortunately we were in a private area of the venue that had a huge flat screen TV, and they allowed us to have the match on on mute. It was a good win for England and I hope it will cement Gareth’s position as England manager. I only had one eye on the football though, as it was good to catch up with former colleagues, some of whom I haven’t seen for years. Do you recognise our lovely model Sally in the picture?

Of course it was very busy at QVC over the weekend, particularly with the Elemis Today’s Special Value. I hope you have all received yours by now and are enjoying using it. This weekend it is the turn of Keeley’s friend Fiona, with the Decleor Today’s Special Value. I’m sad to be missing her but I really do need the weekend off after working the last three. If you want to order ahead of time you can click on this link.

So, having gone out socialising on Friday, I was out again on Wednesday after my shift at QVC.

This time, I headed up to London with Debbie Flint for the Romantic Novelist’s Association winter party. Sophie also came along to the party and we had a lovely dinner in Chiswick afterwards before heading home.

I am still quite new to the RNA, so don’t know too many people, and I found myself peering at people to see if I recognised them from their photos on Twitter.

Speaking of Twitter, I have made a slight adjustment to my Twitter username… it’s now @JuliaRobertsTV, very similar to my Facebook page.

Two nights out in one week – I’ll need a lie down at some point this weekend, but not until after the Palace match tomorrow.

It will be my first game of the season and we’ve been on a bit of a slide recently, but I’m still hopeful of three points against Man City – keep everything crossed for me.

Well, there was no Fashion on Friday today because of the Christmas Food Event. If you love our QVC fashion, our QVC Style channel now has a Look of the Week:

look-of-the-week

It will feature live on the channel at 4pm every weekday, and it changes on a weekly basis.

Fashion on Friday is back next week and I’ll be able to tell you about some special shows in that time slot for December.

I’m hoping to get some words done over the next few days – check out the blog on my website for the latest information and to receive my newsletter.

Have a great weekend,
Julia xx

Hi Julia, I did sign up a good few weeks ago for your blog in the hope of also winning a signed copy of your book but I have not yet received a newsletter so obviously there was no hope of me being lucky enough to win a copy of your book! Not sure went wrong. Enjoyed your current blog though as always.

      Hi Teresa
The free newsletter is on my website http://www.juliarobertsauthor.com not on my QVC blog – if you sign up for it now (doesn’t cost anything) there is a free short story e-book to download

    Hi Julia,
I’ve just been catching up on your blog’s as it’s been quite a few weeks since I’ve used my tablet. I just read about your trip to Ireland. It’s good to know that we can now get in places for less as of course I turned 60 last month. I don’t however, like being classed as a “senior citizen”! I was just telling hubby as we’ve never thought about being able to pay less for certain things! I did find out that over 60’s can go swimming for free as long as you show I.D. and I also received my bus pass a few weeks ago. We can get all this, and get classed as senior citizens yet can’t get the state pension for another 6 years as the age has been raised!!
Anyway, hope you’re keeping well. I picked out your Christmas card from my fave. Welsh shop in Porthcawl. We went there last Thursday when we had those terrible high winds. The weather forecasters said it would be windy but missed out the 100 mile an hour hurricanes along the coast. We could hardly walk the short distance from the car to where we have lunch. Talk about bracing sea air.
We’ve been enjoying our rugby test matches for the past few weeks. Our last of the games is this weekend against South Africa. We’ve won 2 out 3 games so far , by the skin of our teeth so we’ll have to see how Wales fair with the next.
Have you been to Swansea of late? I’d give I a miss in this weather! We’re hoping to go out tomorrow if the rain and wind eases up a bit.
Well take care and all the best.

      Hi Tina
I’m going to check with my local leisure centre to see if I can go swimming fir free – what a bonus to being sixty that would be!! I think maybe it depends on the different local authorities but fingers crossed. I haven’t applied for my bus pass yet – maybe I should.
My son left Swansea in the summer so I won’t be visiting much although I have made a couple of friends down there & I love the Gower. That is the trouble with football, it’s a very transient business if you want to progress up the career ladder.
Hope the weather was kinder for your trip to PorthcWl this week
      Love

      Hi Elizabeth
So pleased you enjoyed The Shadow of Her Smile. I will try and write a short story every couple of months – really loving writing the new book – new characters to bring to life.
      Love
