And J K Rowling book of the week – and it’s brilliant!
Well the nights are dark early now, and I go off in search of autumn sunshine whenever I can! Like with this cool pic in the woods where I walk the dogs – really beautiful. And the leaves – wow what colours!
Champneys with Goody
I took advantage of a voucher that was about to expire and stole away for some of that sunshine – well, at least a rest! Had a lovely little mini break at one of my favourite haunts and had a Decleor mini-facial which was very timely given this Saturday’s new Today’s Special Value with lovely Fiona who also did a Q&A this week on Facebook. (more below.)
Goody and I really enjoyed the setting too – and we even got some sunshine on the last day. Had a great view from my top floor window across the lake – here’s a little video to pretend I’m still there, looking out the window, listening to the huge numbers of geese on the lake…
Hope to go back again in the next few months. Haven’t had a holiday this year – a proper one (well, one that wasn’t for work in China or for a writing break) – so maybe I’ll make 2016 the year of travel for me. Where have you been that you think I should definitely go? Leave me a comment at the bottom of this blog.
Gracie Doggy update – good and bad news
Ok so the vet’s latest check-up found that Gracie’s stem cells op to help her arthritis is beginning to have interesting effects – although my six year old choccie Labrador still has hip dysplasia, her elbow arthritis might be easing slightly. She actually jumped up on her back legs briefly the other day and that’s not happened for ages! I will keep you informed, the vet says it could be up to three months to see the full potential. (I’ll be posting an exclusive video of how she’s walking post op on the newsletter coming out over the weekend – do sign up here if you’d like to get one.) BUT her sister, escape dog Daisy, now has a poorly elbow it seems… Gosh it never rains but it pours…!
Back to You Update
As you may know, my well-being show ‘Back to You’ returns in January! Find out more about it on my website here, where you’ll also hear more about the amazing skin supplements, Imedeen. Get yours from QVC now. They are highly reviewed with people saying they’ve noticed differences within the try out period, and if they are a Christmas pressie, you will have until 120 days after 25th January to use the ‘extended, extended’ Money Back Guarantee! I find them invaluable – discover why by reading my explanation here. Plus – Q&A with Fiona from Decleor, Bruce from Bodyblade and sausages, Sunshine and ‘sisters’! Next week’s Q&A is with Keeley from Elemis talking about her upcoming Christmas Today’s Special Value deal.
And if you missed it, my latest newsletter is here – sign up for the email on my website to keep up to date.
Elemis Sneaky Peeky
As many of you may know, the massive Elemis Today’s Special Value for 15th November has been shared all over social media. It’s six products, three face, three body, with a choice two fab bodycare fragrances – Frangipani or the new Sweet Orchid. In next week’s blog, I will include a full run-down of the bundle, plus my trip to the Elemis spa to have the full body wrap in the brand new fragrance!
Simon Wilson Snap
Whilst up in London this week I couldn’t help but pop in to see Simon from Butler and Wilson in his famous shop in South Molton St. Me and my mate Sharon ogled the gorgeous jewellery and Simon, who once again had a scary moment as he encountered me with no make-up on! He’s so funny. If you’d like to steal a march on others, here’s one of the best bargains on the web at the moment, the vintage bracelet – unbelievable discount! And watch out for his upcoming shows including 28th November with me.
Putting the world to rights with friends
I also had a super time this week having a good old catch up with two more of my fab pals – Litty, my writing buddy, whom I’ve known since the Posara Watermill romance writing course in 2009 – she’s writing a timetravel novel atm and I can’t wait to read it! I told her about my latest research for ‘French or Dutch’ – update – I’m going to my old university London School of Economics Library next week, to see Marie Stopes’ actual letters and 1920s birth control news pamphlets for my next novel set in that era but based on a true story. (Pure coincidence that the documents are held there in the old library – which is also mentioned in the latest JK Rowling book – see below!) Can’t wait!
And then I spent a day with my new neighbour and mate Fiona from Leg Master – I’ve known her hubby, inventor Neil Summers, for a couple of decades nearly, and since I moved house they are literally 8 minutes away from me! She has horses and offered me a lesson. OMG it was funny – and not entirely successful! But hopefully I will get better. I’m going again soon.
Leg Master = Lifted Bottoms!
And for those who need a ‘lift’ – apart from clinging by the knees to a horse, here’s a reminder of their invention. I swear by a handful of exercise devices, and Fiona and Neil’s Leg Master is one of them. I keep mine in my new big bathroom and do it nearly every day – for the prescribed one minute – whilst brushing my teeth. For me it’s amazing how ‘worked out’ my muscles feel after that short a time – true H.I.I.T. exercise. Like Bodyblade which I say should be kept by the kettle for those one minute interludes, it’s what you do little and often but regularly, that counts. If you get yours now, you’ll have until 25th January with the Money Back Guarantee if it’s a Christmas pressie. Give it a go, it’s really effective at reaching outside saddlebags and lifting the bottom and helping the pelvic floor – and with Bodyblade it’s a winning combination!
Ralph’s Perfect Christmas Day
Had a super show with lovely Ralph from Honora Pearls on Thursday night, Catherine looking beautiful as ever. And as we prepared to go live I videod this little interview with him – this ‘View from the Presenter’s Chair’ has the question ‘What’s Your Ideal Christmas Day?’
More vids like this in my new upcoming Friday 6pm webchat on the QVC UK facebook page in the run up to Christmas – starting next week!
Facebook Funny – Algebra – very clever! Lol.

Book of the week – Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith (J K Rowling)
Talking of books, OMG what a brilliant writer J K Rowling is, especially in her cosy crime incarnation. I just love the anti-hero, one legged, overweight, chain smoking, cornish-accented detective Cormoran Strike. It’s definitely another winner for me – and once again on audible audiobook. Wonder if mine will be one day? See it on my Read it Write it Sell it blog!
RiWiSi News – Version 3.0 of ‘Til The Fat Lady Slims’ – Tips and Tales to Inspire will be out in January! NaNoWriMo is going ahead well so far – getting more news chapters down of my ‘French or Dutch’ book! Been trying the amazon fire tablet with its ‘word runner’ speed reading function – very handy! Just need to get one that talks now and I’ll be well away! Lol.
TACOM Countdown continues – just ten days or so now until you might find my first novel with UK independent publisher Choc Lit, ‘Take a Chance on Me’, in bookshops as the paperback is launched.
QVC Behind the Scenes Funny – Tracy’s trio of troublemakers made me laugh in the QVC corridors last week! Well, she was selling the towels so went on air like that! I love those shoes!
Blooper – Jilly not quite managing to get Rosa’s name right… And Chloe having fun with Dennis Basso!
