I just wanted to let you all know that I will be celebrating my 40th birthday next Thursday, 23rd June.
With this in mind, and not wishing to sound too soppy, I thought that it might be a good opportunity to raise some money for charity and make my 40 healthy and happy years so far about being thankful for all the good things in my life.
So, if you want to get involved all you have to do is send me a birthday wish here on my blog by next Thursday (D-Day, or should that be B-Day?) and I will make a donation to charity for every good wish received. Just to be clear, you won't have to part with a penny. I will be the one making the donation on your behalf, but only if you wish me a happy birthday by commenting here.
In case you were wondering – yes this is a slightly desperate attempt on my part to make it look like I am popular/liked, but hey it’s all in a good cause!
Crafty Birthday Card Making
For all you crafters out there, I just wanted to let you know that I went to our Craft Prep Room and had a fun half hour with Caroline, who manages our craft prep, making this card (photo top left). I am determined to try to pop in and see her every week and increase my crafting skills.
For this one I used the Scissix Eclips to cut out the number 40 and the 'Happy Birthday' message. I layered up some gold card with the orange on top, used some peel-off stars, did swirly designs on the '40' with the Quickie glue pen and then add some glitter on top, and just to add a final embellishment I did some highlighting with a dark green Promarker and added a couple of little birdies as well.
It was a first attempt, as you all know I am still learning, so try not to look too closely! Any feedback or comments on my fledgling attempts would be really welcome.
Thank you in advance to anyone who decides to get involved with the Birthday Wishes!
