Like many of you we had our QVC Xmas party last weekend. This was a first for me as I only started presenting with the channel this year. And what a year it has been! Now, there is a clear rule with office parties, namely, what happens on a night out stays on a night out. With that in mind there won't be any juicy revelations or salacious gossip, mostly because there wasn't any. What there was, however, was such a great spirit of fun and goodwill and we all had a real laugh, just as it should be at a staff party I think!
The party had a theme – 1920s – and while some people were very dedicated in their mission to properly represent the look, feel and spirit of the theme, many of us (me included) just wanted to dress up and let our hair down, and that we did!
What was great for me was the chance to hang out with all the people who make every minute of working the Q such a joy. It is important to say, I think, that while it is myself and the other presenters that you get to see on air each day we are only the front end of a huge group of really hard working people who are involved in Buying, Planning, Producing, Directing, Camera, Sound, Backstage, Promotions, Marketing, Events, Copywriters (special mention to Bryony and Lucy who have both been so brilliant!) And it is these people who make QVC happen everyday. We, as Presenters, are just part of that team. So to all of them I say a huge thank you.
What was especially great for me was getting to dance (trust me there was a lot of dancing – most of it not very goood – just throwing myself around a dancefloor mainly) with Ali Keenan. Ali and I hadn't really spent much time together this year for obvious reasons so it was a lovely opportuntiy for me to get to know her and we had a brilliant time tearing up that dancefloor – happy memories for me, and for her too I hope. (Though with the way I was throwing myself around I'm surprised I didn't do her an injury!)
Such a great way to end an amazing year for me. I hope that all of you have had a great 2011 and I hope regardless of whether you did or not that 2012 really is an amazing year for each and every one of you.
Wishing you all a peaceful Xmas and a Joyful New Year.
