QVC comes of age!

I really can't believe that QVC is eighteen this weekend – it brings back memories of the nerves we were all experiencing this time eighteen years ago!

I'm pleased to say that it's the only time I have ever appeared on News at Ten – usually it's because you have done something wrong or worse still, died!! But the launch of QVC was such a newsworthy event that we were the story just before the end and the report was about changing the way we shop. We've certainly done that and it's great that so many of you have been loyal to us since the start but also good to welcome all the newcomers each and every day.

We've got lots planned for our birthday with great TSVs from Leighton Denny and Honora, and everything is on 4 Easy Pays. We are even starting an hour early both days so that we do eighteen hours live instead of the usual seventeen.

I hope you enjoy our birthday weekend and that you'll be joining Simon Wilson and I for a couple of glitzy glam shows on Saturday and Sunday evening. Make the most of the weather too, apparently all set to change on Tuesday,

Much love Julia xx

Congrats, Julia-you have done well to stay loyal from day one and be part of a new venture that got better each year. I have been with Q.V.C. from day 2 or 3 but didn’t order anything for a year-my husband wishes I had never started as it’s been a dangerous addiction that I really cannot afford anymore-there are so many gorgeous things every day (ONLY THE CRAFT DAYS ARE SAFE FROM, AND FOR, ME!!!!)Have a wonderful anniversary and congrats again-to all at Q.V.C.-but primarily—–YOU. Happy Birthday to QVC – 18 years young – i’ve been with you since January 1995 and have never looked back(because i’m frightened my bank manager catches up with me!!) no seriously i cant believe its been 18 years since QVC came into our lives and i hope there are many many more(and loads of easi-pays toox) – As you’ve said before Julia its all down to trust and i would add variety – and – QVC has brand variety in spades, now trust,i am not embarrassed to admit that i trust QVC( the only shopping telly i would buy from) and i have my presenters i trust too – mentioning no names (Julia Roberts you say? – it would be wrong of me to sayxx.)I’ve always meant to tell you but in my 17ish years with QVC i’ve only sent a handfull of items back(less than five),now i think that says something about the quality aspect of shopping with the channel – absolutely brilliant customer service centre and operators in Knowsleyx I’ve bagged my LD TSV(and a couple of other items!!)these four pays are too temptingx Looking forward to you and Simons show tonight – if you see this before can you please let him know that Mamie from Glasgow texted into the LD TSV launch to wish QVC a Happy Birthday – she might do the same tonight but didnt want Simon to miss her contact. Many Thanks to the powers that be for the four easi-pay offers this weekend. Look after yourself Juliax Re your book i will only say one word – Clickfree!! Speak on your next blog. Love Linda Glasgowxx(i’m going to bed now with my alarm set for 7.45 so i’ve got time for a coffee before 8am – me addicted – noxx)

    Hi Julia
Look forward to seeing you later on, hope you have a great time with Simon…always a hoot when you’re together!
Really felt for Lulu last night, forgetting the steps, but she carried on like a real trooper, no doubt the nerves must have got to her, especially everyone backing her to win! Although, Anita Dobson was brilliant considering she had never danced a step before, then there was Russell Grant, the campest ever, who got a standing ovation! Can’t wait to see the rest.
    See you later!

    Hi Julia.
Everything on 4 Easy Pays, oh dear, that means an expensive weekend for me then, I can’t resist Easy Pays! I absolutely loved my time at QVC on Monday and I’ve told Keeley ‘any time’! So, let’s hope I get to do a show with you some time. This will make you laugh. Chris and I were also down in London on Thursday and Friday as part of his 40th birthday celebrations. We went to see Jersey Boys on Thursday night which was absolutely brilliant. Yesterday we went window shopping in Mayfair, turned a few corners and found ourselves in South Molton Street! As we approached Simon’s shop, Chris said, “Simon’s in”. I was dying to go in and say hello but I daren’t because I was wearing Lola Rose! I have loads of B&W but I thought, he’ll never believe me!
    Lots of love

You looked absolutely stunning tonight Julia. Not too bad for Palace at the weekend. Frustrating to be in the lead twice though and not win I bet. We beat Hibs 1-0 and Celtic lost to Hearts today so we are TEN points in front of them although they have a game in hand. Looking good a bit like yourself!

    Hi Annette
I agree with you – I felt so sorry for Lulu particularly as she is such a perfectionist. She must have been really cross with herself – hope it goes better for her this week.

Let’s hope we can do a show together if you get the opportunity to come on QVC again.
I can’t believe you didn’t go in and say hi to Simon – you could have just slipped your jewellery into your bag for a few minutes!
Hope you enjoyed The Jersey Boys, it’s supposed to be a brilliant show!

Have you explained to me before what ‘sook’ is?? I replied to you on my One Hundred Lengths of the Pool blog about the West Ham result at the weekend – I was pretty pleased and apparently we played well although I wasn’t able to be there.

    Hi Julia
I was right. i said to my husband that I thought you were writing a book. well done you. I could certainly do with a good read.
Had a FAB time in Gozo, although i did manage to have a mini stroke while we were away. was a bit scary this time, as I was aware things were going a bit wrong, but I was well taken care of and all seems to be back on track again. i have to go into hospital next week so they can sort the meds out, so will miss the BCC event. Im gutted.
Its hard to believe QVC is 18 years old! My first purchase was a pair of diamonique stud earrings, from the 2nd ever diamonique show. I had them in my ears while we were away, and i just adore them. I even wore them on my wedding day.
We were in a very nice restaurant in Valletta one evening last week. i was wearing my diamonique tanzanite ring that I got for my 50th a couple of months ago. I was in the ladies room, washing my hands ,and a VERY elegant italian lady was at the vanity unit. She kept glancing at my hand and in the end she came over and asked what kind of stone it was. I said it was tanzanite and she asked if she could have a closer look at it. I held my hand up for her to see it, (wasnt taking it off, she might have scarpered with it LOL!!) and she said it was the most beautiful stone she had seen in a long time. She said she had never heard of tanzanite, but would be looking for some when she got home. I was very naughty and didnt say it wasnt real, because to me, it is real, its there, its on my hand looking gorgeous, so its real!!!
Hope you are well Julia. my good wishes to your lovely Mum, hope shes doing well.
    lots of love
    Una xx

Ha sook basically means being overly nice Julia! It must be a Scottish phrase! Quite hard to explain/
International weekend coming up. To be honest I prefer Club games. Looks like England will qualify and Scotland won’t…. no change really!

    Hello Una
I’m so pleased to hear you had a good time in Gozo despite the mini stroke – I hope your stay in hospital this week will get your medication sorted. As you say, at least you know what signs to look for now so just keep vigilant.
Good guess about the book. I have been writing for a while now, I actually have 2 other books started, but this idea just came to me and I am determined to get it finished before the end of the year ………. hopefully within the next six weeks. I will keep you posted.
Loved the story about the tanzanite ring – I don’t ‘fess up’ either!!!
Thanks for the good wishes for my mum and look after yourself

    Hi Steven
Well you were right about England qualifying ……….. JUST!! I didn’t see the game as I was at a wedding but from what I hear it looked like Rooney deliberately made ‘that’ challenge to get himself sent off. You know my views on sendings off and letting your team, and in this case your country, down.
Whereabouts in Spain are Scotland playing and when?
Good luck – you CAN still do it

    Hi Julia
Rooney just seemed to lose it for a second as he is prone to doing. It could cost you guys because he will miss at least one game at the Championships.
We play Spain in Alicante on Tuesday night. We need to match or better the Czech score – they play Lithuania in Lithuania.
Thanks for your best wishes – fingers crossed. I might make a small trip to the pub for small libation or two during the game – it has to be done!!
    Take care and speak soon

  23. Steven October 12, 2011 at 6:33 pm -  Reply

We got beat 3-1 Julia. We had to better the Czechs score. Went to the pub to watch it. Czechs scored after 3 minutes and Spain scored not long after! Basically it was all over after 5 minutes! We lost the 2nd right on half time and then it really was curtains. We put up a brave fight and other games that we dropped points in have come back to haunt us. Just need to cheer on England next year eh!!!
Back to doestic football this weekend. I’m at Ibrox on Saturday, we play St Mirren. Who do Palace play? Did Palace have players away on International duty?

    Hi Steven
Sorry you guys didn’t make it ….. genuinely! The more home nations in these international tournaments the better I think! Did you hear Rooney got a three match ban!?!?!? No comment!
We have Watford away this weekend – we are only a couple of points off the playoffs and yet are about tenth or eleventh – tight league this year.
    Good luck tomorrow
