Quick party fixes for Christmas and beyond!

Glam to go, quick make-over tips or handbag essentials are crucial at this time of year, to take advantage of any last minute invites – and they really come into their own when you’re running out of time and need to look gorgeous quickly.
The two quickest and most impactful glamour techniques this season are to change the look of your hair, combined with a bright lipstick. This is definitely the speediest and would involve something like Percy & Reed Dry Shampoo to not just clean but add texture and give a ‘piecey’ look to a naturally textured hair.

The Percy and Reed Shine Spray is great for creating a naturally smoother hair, and the Ego Mini Hair Straighteners are fantastic if you have had your hair up all day to create both speedy smoothness and/or waves. The brighter and bolder the lipstick and the fuller the look that you create to the mouth, the less touch-up the rest of the face needs and you may only need to do a flick of powder to give a matt finish to the skin and take off any shine. This look is sexy and quick.

Lipsticks
If you have a little bit longer, then your quickest colour make-over is eyeliners to give a stronger, sultry eye by using darker shades of liner in either black, bronze, grey or pewter. We have some great ones from Mally and Laura Geller and blending them with your fingers or often with their end applicators, creates a sultry shadow look that’s best with either a clear or a nude lip. Take this quick, shadow liner all around the eye for greater impact.

For a more chic and sophisticated look, combine an up-do on longer hair with or without quick extensions like our HAIRUWEAR selection (pictured above). For shorter hair, smooth or lift up and away from the face and flick out for the immediate hair face lift and combine with more structured liner in a classic black, brown or navy balanced with strong brows and a more delicate and pretty shade on the lip such as a soft coral or muted pink. The lip colour can also be quickly blended onto the cheek and the eye socket to give an overall glow.

For those with longer hair, braids are still big, so if you or a friend is good at these, they can be quickly done in a coffee or lunch break. Combine with a natural, understated make-up to give a fresh, younger look.
The party goddess is best created with metallic tones. Make sure that your hair is shiny by applying more serum or colour enhancement streaks with Color Wow and work the make-up with strong brows and mascara.

Shimmer make-up
Concentrate your colour work on bronzing and highlighting. Party favourites would definitely be Mally’s Gold Highlighter, Laura Geller’s Vanilla Highlighter, BECCA’s famous liquid highlighters in all metallic shades or Benefit’s High Beam.
For dull and tired skin, you can mix these liquid ones with your foundation. Or for normal/oily skin, just dab them on the top of the cheeks, underneath the eyebrows, down the nose, above the lips and any bare skin on the neck and body. This will definitely show off a big jewellery look too.

Today the 8th in the advent calendar should have been about your surround NOT beauty again.

Hi Alison, are you able to share your preferred skin care range that you use on a daily basis. You always look amazing and I am always interested in your advice regarding the beauty products aired, but just wondered what you like to use. I use a mixture of Elemis, Liz Earle and Lulu’s Time Bomb.

    Hi Alison,
I’m mixed race, with a honey tone complexion, and are thinking about using a highlighter when on holiday. I have combination skin tone, and find a lot of highlighters make my skin look really oily, look almost white on my skin, or just plain silly.
Often on nights out I use my Bobbi Brown Simmer brick in nectar, to give me that subtle glow, but was wondering what you think about using a highlighter in just one colour.
    What highlighter would you recommend?
Or do you think I should stick with my Shimmer Brick?
