Bath or shower?
99% of the time it’s a shower for speed. However, if I’ve had one of my many accidents like falling off a horse at home or a space hopper at work(!!), walking into a wheelbarrow, falling off the tractor or getting knocked over in the fields by a horse or dog, then it’s definitely an SBC Arnica Bath Soak.
Nails – gels or normal?
Gel nails done by a professional was essential when I slipped over on self-tan on air and broke my wrist! The good old days of spray eco tan! However, the rest of the time I do my own manicures and pedicures but two or three times a year I have a professional treatment to do some deep cuticle work. The rest of the time it’s easy to maintain with all of our great brands.
Foundation – liquid or Powder?
This really does depend on what mood my skin is in. When it’s well hydrated and plumped-up from skincare work, it’s best with powder make-up like Laura Geller Balance n Brighten Baked Foundation (213445) (a powder that performs like a cream). If I have an allergy reaction or any breakouts, it’s best with Bareminerals Gorgeously Flawless Foundation (216716). If my skin is feeling dry or has experiences lots of central heating, air conditioning or car heaters etc. then its best with a liquid like Bareminerals Complexion Rescue (209089). I also use Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Foundation (205253) for fuller coverage and if my skin needs more smoothing out then Judith Williams Magic Makeup (206004) or the M. Asam Perfect Teint II and my make-up choices for high glamour are Jay Manual Skin Perfector Foundation (227539) and Mally. This list could go on and on but it certainly shows, even to me as a make-up artist and maybe for you guys at home, how I test out the products and how a foundation wardrobe for you, can definitely give the performance you require.
Individual beauty products or multi-tasking?
You can guess the answer is going to be all of them. In general if I’m not testing specifically, multi-tasking products are great for speed such as Ultrasun and Anti-Ageing and Anti-Pigmentation Day Cream (205014), Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat (227131) when you don’t have time to do a manicure but you need to protect the nails, also Taya Inner Core Shampoo and Conditioner (216289) acts like you’ve had lots of intensive treatments when you don’t have time. Multi-tasking make-up minimises the size of your make-up bag and is great to grab-and-run and for holidays, but individual beauty products will always win out for problem solving of a specific hair/skin/nail or make-up requirement.
Night in or night out?
Almost definitely a night in as I have to work many night shifts at work so it’s actually nice to be at home at tea time and spend the evening in with hubby, dogs and horses and go to bed at a normal time which allows me to get up feeling human instead of the jet lag feeling of a late night work shift. Night outs are few and far between as it takes a lot of organisation for the farm and animals but the promise of Will Gowing and his hubby Steve in a cocktail bar normally does the trick!
Home cooked or takeaway?
Always home cooked. The 20 – 30 mile round trip to a takeaway when you live in the country means it’s not a normal occurrence and is only once or twice a year. Plus the fact that I enjoy cooking and find it relaxing, having done lots of cookery exams and courses when I was younger. Plus we have some really great farm shops and local producers being in the country so I tend to cook whatever is in season or whatever looks good.
Morning person or night person?
I’m definitely a morning person. I’m always the one that takes hubby the cup of tea in bed whilst I’m up with a cup of coffee out at the stable and on the farm and I certainly don’t feel as if the day is right unless I get a lot of jobs done in the morning. I always feel like the day has run away with me. However, as most of my work is later in the day, I am very good at a cat nap or if it’s a Today’s Special Value launch a proper sleep for a few hours in the afternoon to bank up some energy. I have got used to this routine and enjoy it in a sadistic way.
Movies or books?
This definitely depends upon the time of year for example, I would be a book person but don’t get time to read them but on holiday I can always get through about 4 – 5 books and find that very relaxing. When I’m not on holiday, then it’s easier to sit down in front of a film to have a relax with the dogs lying all over my knees.
