Pipa: Nativity plays and my Christmas CD

Pipa's 'Twelve Days' albumI went to see the children’s Christmas Nativity plays this week and they reminded me of all those wonderful carols and Christmas songs we sing each year!

'Little Donkey' is one I haven’t heard for a long long time!! I remember doing that one and standing behind a star in a big white sheet when I was about six-years-old – funny the memories we hang on to! I think my favourite school play was 'The Owl and the Pussycat'... although I think I was behind yet another star!!

Talking of Christmas music, I've been chuffed to bits to hear from loads of you who've been enjoying the CD I released last Christmas!! We played it last week on air whilst talking about the Sandisk MP3 player (which I've bought for my husband for Christmas as we love the voice recorder feature which many MP3s don’t have) and since then I've been inundated with queries.

Charlie presents the last BOSE show of 2008

Charlie Brook Hi, Charlie here,

I rarely have the opportunity to present an hour of BOSE on QVC. Like many, music is a real passion of mine.

Prior to QVC and venturing into television I was a sound designer. If someone asks, 'What's a sound designer?' I say, think of a graphic designer or Dawn Bibby's card making but with sound!

I've been fortunate enough to create audio packages for the likes of Radio 1 such as jingles, idents, trailers and mixes. I also designed for BBC Top of the Pops and produced mixed albums too. I love sound; I love music and just love being creative with audio.

For me, BOSE has a wonderful talent for bringing audio to life. Many of the systems from BOSE feature waveguide technology which, in my opinion, takes the listening pleasure to the next level.

At 10pm this Sunday evening (14th December) we have a simple yet brilliant demonstration highlighting the impact of waveguide technology.

I hope to see you then.

Take care and see you soon,

Charlie

Pipa: My upcoming performance and a look back on the year

Pipa VanderburgHave you noticed we're hurtling towards the final month of 2008? Scary but true. I can’t believe we’re nearly at the end of another year!!!

2008 has absolutely flown by - what with moving house, Myles starting school, recording the YBF theme tune “Sunshine Girl” and releasing an EP this summer.

I haven’t done as many live gigs as I would have liked and every year I vow to do more of them. But I've written some songs that I really love and I just might get around to releasing them next year... so watch this space!

Mind you, if you're at a loose end this Saturday 22nd November, I'll be performing in Chiswick, west London at a very unique Christmas Event. We will be raising money for the National Childbirth Trust. So, if you would like more info on that, please visit my website and I'll give you all the necessary facts!! It runs for about 6 hours through the day, so I'll be on and off stage each hour. It will also be a great chance to say hello!

Yo ho ho!!! Oh come on, it’s nearly CHRISTMAS!!

Charlie: Something you might not know about me…

Charlie Brook  Charlie's 'in the mix 90s hits'
I worked for a production company where I was lucky enough to mix together the tracks for 'in the mix'.

I worked to a tight deadline and did it over a weekend, mixing all through the night. I had very little sleep - just an hour here and there... I think I actually fell asleep standing up while laying down one mix!

Charlie's 'in the mix 97'These albums were a huge success, in particular 'in the mix 96', and 'in the mix 90s hits' which were no. 1 in the compilation charts. It was a fantastic feeling to pop into Woolworths and see the album on sale.

Does anyone have these CDs in their collection?

Claudia at the Divas II bash

Claudia_that_she_requestedMy husband Steven and I were guests at ITV1's show Divas II at the weekend. We had a great time.

The glitzy music bash marked the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and had an amazing musical line-up. We were lucky enough to see more big names than you can shake a stick at - Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Pink, Gabriella Cilmi, Anastacia and legend Dionne Warwick.  The highlights of the BCC Fashion Show were also shown.

Pipa releases her third CD!

Pipa Vanderburg Hello everyone!

I'm releasing my third CD and I thought I'd tell you about it.

My latest CD is called Sunshine Girl and it's definitely one for the ladies! It's a three track disc and the lyrics are going to appeal to the women out there -it's a real girl's soundtrack!

I think the music sounds like a mix between Sheryl Crow, The Cardigans and me of course!Sunshine Girl

On the cover I'm wearing lots of QVC! I'm wearing a Butler & Wilson sundress and jewellery, QVC silver jewellery and my make-up is a mix of Sue Devitt, Bobbi Brown and Y.B.F Beauty.

I've been so busy recently, as well as finishing my CD I've also been doing a psychology degree. I find it so interesting!

The CD is out on 28th August and you can buy it from my website. You can also pre-order it if you want to make sure you get a copy!

Be sure to let me know if you like it!

Love Pipa x

Message from Pipa: my new Christmas album

TwelvedaysLove this new blog! Some of you may know that when I'm not on QVC I'm often making music, and this year I've been busy recording Twelve Days, my new Christmassy album.

I love traditional Christmas music, but as you know I'm not a particularly traditional person. So with this album I took some of the fabulous carols and Christmas songs like 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', 'Silent Night' and 'Let it Snow', and rearranged them.

It's a jazz album with hip, cool, sultry arrangements - the kind of stuff that you'd be happy to have on at a dinner party. I admit, it was weird recording Christmas songs in July. I brought a tree into the studio but we didn't really need it - summer was so cold it actually felt like Christmas!

Lots of love,

Pipa
