Lulu Guinness returns to QVC... and Catherine Huntley can't wait!

Catherine Huntley at the Lulu Guiness boutique in New YorkHello everyone, Catherine here!

Lulu Guinness is back... and boy, has she been in demand. She's been so busy recently with London Fashion week, but she's taking time out of her hectic schedule to come back to QVC this Friday.

I had the great pleasure of launching Lulu Guinness bags on QVC earlier this year. The premiere show sold out so quickly, we didn’t get much of a chance to chat to Lulu herself. I was so disappointed.

I fell in love with Lulu Guinness bags instantly, and I even visited her New York boutique when I was on holiday. Check out the piccy! Keeping two teenagers amused on holiday was hard work, so a trip to Lulu's boutique was my little treat - Mum's half hour of 'me time'. It was absolutely divine!

Lulu's show is going to be a busy one, so join me for a girly night this Friday at 8pm. Straight after the Lulu Guinness show, I'm also presenting the stunning Jacqueline Kennedy collection. It's a great collection of jewellery, and much talked about too!

Bags and jewellery - a fab way to start the weekend, wouldn't you say?

Love Catherine x

Robert Lee Morris chats about his designer jewellery range

Robert Lee Morris in his workshopWe caught up with renowned jewellery designer Robert Lee Morris in his workshop in the USA to find out just what makes him tick...

How did you get into jewellery making?
I got involved with jewellery making just after I left college in 1970. I started a hippy commune on an abandoned farm in Wisconsin and we soon became our own little family of creativity. My sculpture professor inspired me to find my true self through jewellery-making, which allowed me to express the different facets of my life and love of anthropology and culture.RLM Studio spiral necklace

What happened next?
I was discovered at a craft fair in 1973 by a very famous gallery owner, who launched my career in New York. She had many links with the fashion and art communities, and soon the fashion press had picked up on my work. By the late 1970s I was working alongside some of the most famous names in fashion, including Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld and Donna Karan, who I still work with today.

Suzi B Dear friends,

It's been a great year for jewellery and accessories, and that trend continues for the upcoming season. This month I'll be celebrating my 14th anniversary on QVC UK, so it's fitting that the 'statement necklace' is taking centre stage in the fashion world as it's one of my favourite pieces in my new collection, and is perfect for any celebratory occasion!

Julia Roberts: My gold jewellery picks from Vicenza

Julia Roberts

Hi everyone,

I'm a big fan of all things gold and earlier this summer my friend Alison Keenan and I were lucky enough to travel to Italy to visit the Vicenza Gold Fair. We saw all kinds of fabulous gold jewellery pieces, some of which I hand-picked to go in a special Vicenza presenter selection which you can see.

My jewellery style

I've got a very eclectic style - I like both dangle and stud earrings, delicate pieces and bold contemporary jewellery, all sorts really. I don't make an effort to match jewellery with my outfit, if I really like a piece of jewellery I'll wear it with everything!

For me, jewellery must be well made, comfortable and easy to wear. I found lots of fab-looking jewellery in Vicenza, but it didn't always have that durability and comfort which is so important when you're constantly on the go.

Presenting Claudia Sylvester's diamond ring - in new shades of gold

Claudia's diamond ringTo our regular viewers, Claudia Sylvester is well-known as a presenter, and before that, one of our fashion models. But our jewellery-lovers also know that she's designed her very own 9 carat gold diamond accent ring.

Since its successful launch on January's Gold Day, the ring has been a sell-out hit twice over. Claudia's reworked the design for its third outing, but it still retains its beautiful contemporary styling sprinkled with diamonds.

Gold expert Jan Springer shares the latest jewellery looks

Jan SpringerMay is Gold Month, and we're really excited about the new jewellery we'll be bringing you! Jan Springer's here to talk about the latest looks in gold.

Jan's been involved in the jewellery and precious metals industry since 1970. As well as QVC, her clients include The Goldsmiths Company and the World Gold Council.

What styles are coming up for summer and beyond?

The layered look is really taking off. It's all about mix and match - lots of different lengths, weights and styles of chain worn together, and bangles layered with slim link bracelets. There's a real east-meets-west look to this style. The rule is that there really are no rules! It's a great way to use your existing jewellery and mix it up with a few new pieces to freshen up the look.

If you're only looking for one key piece to add to your collection, what would you go for?

I would say look for anything in rose gold. It was everywhere at the latest jewellery fairs, and has made the cross-over from the designer watch market into all aspects of jewellery. It's such a soft, feminine finish, and is especially perfect for the summer months as it looks great with a tan. Of course, rose gold represents love, so a piece of rose gold jewellery makes the ultimate romantic gift.

Glen Campbell works his magic at the BAFTAs

Glen CampbellHello everyone! I hope you enjoyed watching the BAFTAs on TV. You may have spotted some of the celebs wearing QVC jewellery, I helped them choose their accessories.

QVC's style suite

I had a style suite on Friday where celebs attending the BAFTAs could pop in for some style advice and choose jewellery from QVC to complement their outfit. Some of them brought their outfit, a few brought photos and some came without anything and we just had to work from memory!

The celebs

We had a constant flow of people throughout the day. Melinda Messenger picked a beautiful Butler & Wilson bracelet.Melinda Messenger Lucy Speed dropped by, she actually got her dress from the high street, so she picked some chic jewellery to complement it. She doesn’t like anything too over the top, so I helped her pick a Butler & Wilson pearl bracelet and a gold pearl ring.

Camilla Dallerup from Strictly Come Dancing wore a dress designed by the winner of Project Catwalk.  She was a little worried about choosing the jewellery to go with such a contemporary dress, but we found her some great pieces by Butler & Wilson and Joan Rivers.

Some of the celebs couldn’t make it to the style suite, so we sent jewellery out to them. I sent a fabulous Butler & Wilson necklace and earrings to Joanna Lumley. Michelle Collins wore a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood dress, and she chose Butler & Wilson accessories - a chunky red bracelet, small red hoop earrings and a chunky black ring.Camilla Dallerup

Best dressed

In my eyes, one of the best dressed people was Ellen Page from the film Juno. She wore a long, backless black dress with a deep V neckline and pretty beading detail.

The BAFTAs used to be seen as the Oscars not-so-glamorous British equivalent, but now people are definitely making more of an effort to look fabulous.

Meet jewellery designer Mischa Sundstad

Mischas Mischa Sundstad has been involved in the fashion industry for 20 years, but we know her best as silver jewellery designer on her range Mischa by Design. She was at QVC getting ready for Silver Day on Sunday 23rd March and she spoke to us about Angelina Jolie, design inspiration and funny moments on air...

What sparked your interest in jewellery design?
As a model I travelled the world and was inspired by the things I saw. My first inspiration is fashion, but I became interested in shapes in the natural world, such as unfurling baby ferns and the beauty of raw gemstones. I've used these themes in my jewellery by creating clean, bold designs without heavy embellishments.
